The location is perfect - steps from the sea and a short walk to restaurants and sights. The outdoor terrace is indeed lovely and the unit is quite spacious.
This apartment has great potential but is need of a reno -- particularly with respect to the plumbing. Water for showers was either cold or lukewarm throughout our stay. The plumbing is also very noisy, as are the doors etc., meaning that small movements would wake up others (and despite the large size of the apartment, the bedrooms are all adjacent).

Great location, beautiful and spacious rooms, and very clean. The rooftop terrace was particularly special. Easy to deal with the host. Would highly recommend!

We have been in Ortigia before, it was and still is one of the best planes i have visited.
I love the island, because of the history, the food, the climate.
We have statyed twice both times in the begining of october, still warm at 20 - 23° which is warm enough for me.
The flat is on the top floor of a three floored house.
The rooms are very large, the living room, reception, dining and two double bedrooms all on the same floor as is the kitchen which is probably good for cooking, we only had breakfast at the flat choosing to eat out for lunch and diner.
On the next floor is a smaler bedromm with two single beds and a bath room and the roof terras, which is great to see the bats flying around as the light begins to fade, or sun bathing you are not overlooked.
Last time we wire here there was hardly any traffic.
I understand that deliveries have to be made to shops and restaurants, and that local people that live have to drive around the the island, however there is far too many tourists who are too lazy too walk drivning around to look at the view.
This need to be looken into as it was so nice before, the roads were safe and in better repair than now, and i think speed bumps need to be installd in some places if the traffic is to continue.
There are some electric rickshaws that take the tourists around, this is a good way forward as they don´t make noise and don´t pollute the air.

Thank you to the host for recommending some great options during our stay, the fish market was excellent to buy fish for cooking at the apartment and also a great place to eat in the local cafe's. The beach at Fontana Bianco was also great but you need to take the train. A trip to Etna and Taromina is also a great option by train but too be honest Taromina is quite a tourist trap these days and I wouldn't personally reccommend it.
There are some great restaurants close by, out of the apartment, turn left then first right a variety of places exist, good food. You generally need to avoid the restaurants around the Dummo and back towards the bridge and down towards the port as we had several meals that were considered substandard. No great Pizza restaurants
The Terrace was a great outdoor area but is poorly designed. The air con units from the apartment are situated right next to the rattan seating area and constantly blow hot air onto the guests meaning it is impossible to sit there for any length of time, Just far too hot. The dinning table could be bigger, only six seats and it needs a light.
The main bathroom ensuite quite frequently had a bad smell of fish, not sure why this is but otherwise the showers are good.
The bedroom layout is not great, really this is a two bedroom apartment with a small room at the top of the stairs leading to the terrace that has two child beds suitable for anybody that is around 5ft. This could do with some re-design.
The 2nd main bedroom has an adjoining room which is a decent size and has two single beds, OK if you have kids who want to share.
The building itself is well located and beautiful, but I feel the images on Booking.com don't details the sleeping arrangements correctly.

This is a beautiful and spacious villa in the heart of Ortigia with an interesting history as the home of a prominent Ortigian, the late Enzo Maiorca. It has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, an enormous terrace, sea views and very helpful hosts. The kitchen has everything you could need and we were greeted with welcome wine and snacks as well as a cupboard stocked with tea, coffee and cooking basics. Gemma guided us in on her scooter and Patrizia arranged parking for us. I cannot recommend this property highly enough.
It sleeps six although the third bedroom is small and would suit children or a single adult better than a couple.
There are 55 steps up to the front door and more steps to bedroom 3 and the terrace. We found these steps a small price to pay for an unforgettable six nights on Ortigia. Thank you Patrizia and Gemma.
Nothing, we loved everything about it.
