wonderful self service breakfast with great choice of good cereals, fruit, tea and coffee. Yoghurts, ordinary and oat milks, bottles of chilled water fruit juices etc. Very friendly atmosphere, lovely owner, Karen. Peaceful location about 20 mins from family we came to see in SE Bristol. Free parking, wi-fi. Good showers and new bathrooms.
mattresses were quite good but in the room with the king sized bed, it was quite comfy but not super comfy. We had two rooms (he snores)! My room had twin beds which once again were quite comfy, not super comfy. The sinks in the bathrooms were very small but that was not a problem.

A very comfortable stay, good range of continental breakfast options and the option to use the kitchen facilities in the evenings.
Nothing

Location, very friendly welcome from owners, clean and comfortable accommodation, brilliant selection of continental breakfast
All very good on the whole. Just tiny little points in the shower room: toilet roll on holder with hardly any paper on, and a shower gel virtually empty. These are so minor points, but having worked in hotel management for 15 years, those two little things stood out. But, we had a lovely stay, thankyou very much.

Beautiful location......Nice walks around the area. And not far from the city.
Very remote. ...but they starting a bus service from 1st of April. Call west link. Just download the app. Its a ondemand bus service...also a nice pub just down the road.

Breakfast could have had a fry up.

Reasonably good value, available and friendly hostess. Quiet and clean room and bathroom.
Public transport was a good walk away, and the breakfast room was freezing.

Very nice and cleaned room. Very warm hospitality.
Nothing.

In addition to top marks for hospitality and cleanliness, the Old Bell was easy to find and close to the M4 / M32 interchange on the outskirts of Bristol.
following a tiring motorway journey on the M4, this ideal location is a welcome relief as navigating the local commuter traffic and the busy roads into the city, or onward motorway journey, can be left to the next day.
Also, not more than 5 minutes from the guest house, we came across the Frome Valley footpath that stretches along the river and a pleasant unexpected walk that can take you far into the countryside.

Nice quiet location. Left to my own devices, coming and going, which was great.

Breakfast arrangements were very good and the facilities great. Room was very comfortable.
Nothing to criticise.

The place is lovely with very willing and kind personnel. The room was very cozy and the house itself has nice home-feeling atmosphere. Moreover, the bus stop is only a few steps from the house. The wi-fi there also works pretty well. I also really liked the possibility to eat my breakfast anytime, with no strict timetable in the morning.
Although the breakfast offers variety of food to chose from (multiple kind of fruit, white and wholegrain bread, eidam and chedar cheese, ham, cereals, yogurts, etc.), I missed some local touch to it (maybe some homemade brownies or muffins, or possibly the english breakfast) which would nicely complement the home-feeling atmosphere of The Old Star.

Breakfast.

The use of a kitchen next to dinning room - I used it to reheat take away but you could have cooked in the spall oven with a 2 ring job, even had a dishwasher.

Lovely B&B. The owner is super sweet and genuinely wants the quests to enjoy their stay. We felt very welcome. You don’t get this in a chain hotel.
Help-yourself-breakfast was perfect for our needs and had a good variety of choices.
Nice pub in just few minutes walk.
The room is rather small and easily feels hot and damp, unless you open a window a few times. I have slept in slightly more comfortable beds.

Lovely welcome, relaxed atmosphere, added bonus of a lounge area snd kitchen facilities. Great selection for a help yourself breakfast.
Automatic light in the en suite for the twin room flickered on and off unnecessarily.

The location was perfect for our visit to a local venue where we were attending a party. The room was spacious and clean.
It was not made clear that it was continental breakfast and self service. Also it was not clear that we would be sharing entrance and kitchen/breakfast facilities with others. Fortunately the others in this case were our friends. But in other circumstances it would be helpful to know as you could be sharing facilities/narrow stairway to rooms through a joint front door with strangers. Perhaps more photographs would help.
