Athelstane is very central, very clean and tasteful, and I had a lovely verandah. Nice place.

Very comfortable with everything we needed. Beautiful shared spaces.
Bath/shower a little tricky to navigate but not too bad.

Good budget accommodation where we wanted to stay. We have been there before although many years ago
A coffee plunger in room

Prompt positive comms via text. Clear simple instructions. Beautiful room and balcony.

Beautiful, luxurious, old-world atmosphere. The bath was wonderful, the room extremely comfortable and the library well-stocked. Would definitely return again. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Sitting on the balcony was lovely and the bed was very comfortable.I appreciated the fan.I think it made the room less stuffy.
It was quiet while we were there.
The breakfast was well done too.
The dining area had a nice atmosphere.
The instructions for getting in were very clear too.
More costly than I would have expected.

Loved the place great location and a great cooked breakfast.

Lovely shared facilities, great outdoor spaces in the best part of town.
Needs fly screens on windows and the bed wasn't amazing for a $300 night stay.

I loved the location and the french doors onto the balcony
The lack of face to face bothered though I accept this is the way many bookings are going. However the app did work well for communication

Perfect location. Idyllic, peaceful balcony to relax with a book, a coffee or a wine. Terrific value for money breakfast served by friendly, well trained staff.
Stepping into the shower may be a bit daunting as age takes its toll on hips and balance.

Communication with Laurel when I made booking was excellent. Questions answered promptly, information given about accessing rooms etc fantastic
Rooms very clean, everything we needed was at hand.
Laurels hospitality was 10 +
Building beautiful
Lots of lovely spots to gather and have time with friends out of rooms
Great location for train & town

Everything! Messaged property with questions etc, she came straight back to me 🤗
Nothing, just wanted to stay longer- but a little anxious about stepping over bath to shower 🫣 we’re getting older and I was worried I or my husband might slip..

I had an attractive room large enough to have suited me for longer than my one night. The staff were friendly. Having a code to open the front door meant it was easy to come and go.
I upgraded my Bookings stay to B&B in order to include breakfast but it seemed expensive for what was provided.. Next time I will go out to one of the many cafes for breakfast
I had thought when making the initial booking that breakfast was included in the price quoted. Booking.com needs to make this clearer in their booking options page.

great location.
Clean and well appointed
a bigger fridge as we were travelling and had goods to keep cold

The location was great!! Laurel was a lovely manager with great people skills.
We were very disappointed that breakfast was not provided ( due to staff shortage) even though it was included in the price. We should have asked for a discount.

Great central location
Beds a little too soft.

Very clean & lovely room
Unfortunately the kitchen was closed (low season)- room price adjusted accordingly

We absolutely loved our stay at the charming Athelstane House. Even though the staff were on winter break we have never felt so warmly welcome and looked after. Our room was divine and we had a wonderful stay! 10 stars!

Very comfortable room in a lovely house with a great vibe and so close to the centre of Queenscliff! Balcony is quiet, trees are lovely and the garden is great. Welcomed with a bar of chocolate and a super friendly staff! Great communication on how to check in too.
Nothing!

the location the ambiance the staff , everything was fantastic

The spa in the bathroom was a nice surprise. Everything was neat and tidy and the hotel was only a short walk to the main street so we didn't need the car.
Althought I knew the bed was small, we stayed 1 of the 2 nights we booked as the bed was on the small side for us as we have a King at home. We drove home in the afternoon and used our 2 days in beautiful Queenscliff anyway. Loved everything else

Was upgraded and fantastic checkout time of midday.
Nothing perfect in everyway.

We have been coming to Queenscliff for many years and this was our first time at Athelstane House, it will now be our No#1 pick for future stays.
Athelstane House was a quiet oasis right in the middle of Queenscliff, delightfully furnished rooms that were spotlessly clean with a very very comfortable bed and lovely linen. Our room had access to the front balcony and it was a delight to look out onto the beautiful autumn trees.
The breakfast included as part of our rate was exceptional, as was the coffee, and to top it off a 12pm checkout!! What more could you ask for?........maybe just another night or two!!
The shower over the bath could be challenging for some people.
