One of my best hotel experience in Val Thorens. (And I have been to most of them :) )
Great value for money off season.
One bizarre thing I felt: you need to through the lobby to access the spa

The staff were amazing! brilliant ski in ski out on the Plain Sud chair lift. Fantastic shuttle around VT. Highly recommend this hotel.
Lack of fruit selection for breakfast

Full amenities and service - great bar and breakfast, ski rental, shuttle bus service, spa etc.
Staff very friendly - in particular James at the ski shop was great to deal with.

Everything was amazing, the staff were very attentive and made you feel right at home. The shuttle service was very good and allowed us to go into town as and when we pleased. The spa was great, especially the salt healing room! Ski shop staff were also fab and helped us out when we had an issue with a broken pole. We had a fantastic stay at Koh-I Nor!
The spa got a little crowded in the evening

The ski in ski out and ski room with helpful staff was great and really easy. The position of the hotel was nice and the spa was lovely.
There were lights that came on all night in the room and the staff couldn't turn them off. It was hugely annoying and woke us up every night throughout the night. The rooms were also incredibly over heated and didn't have any way of controlling it so we didn't sleep well while we were there. Lastly, they were really understaffed and so the poor restaurant staff who were amazing, looked broken by the end of the week and it was the beginning of the season!

nice property, nice rooms, very good location for ski in-ski out. the food and service in the restaurant was very good. the spa was nice.
the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. a little firm but may be personal preference. neither of us slept well and both woke up aching.
the price of drinks in the hotel bar are ridiculous. we appreciate it is a 5 star hotel but charging 18€ for 2 lattes and 45€ for 2 gin and tonics is well beyond reasonable. it made us find somewhere else to drink which is a shame as it’s a nice bar.

The staff were brilliant. We had a problem with the airport transfer on the way home and the manager did a brilliant job fixing the issue. We wouldn’t have made our flight without his quick thinking - he definitely went the extra mile.
great service and super friendly. 👍👏
the bar could have been more impressive

Great hotel. Great stuff. Great food.
A little far from the center by foot, but if you ask the hotel van will take you to and from any place in ValThorens with a smile.
No thing special.

Beautiful views
The prices for food are exorbitant and food was not very nice.

Excellent facilities (particularly the SPA) and very good restaurant for the half-board option.
The snow conditions in the sky in-out area was not great but this is not under the property’s control. also our visit was towards the end of the ski season, which also explains it.

The facilities in the hotel were excellent especially the Spa area. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of choices and the food available to order in the on-site restaurants was lovely. Rooms were spacious and kept extremely clean by the housing staff. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helped resolve any issues that arose during my stay. I rented my skis through the hotel shop who stored my equipment daily and were helpful in setting up in the morning. The ski in/ski out gives excellent access to prime locations around the resort. The hotel provided a free shuttle service which was extremely convenient for getting picked up in the town after skiing. A simple phone call and I was collected anywhere within the resort. Without a doubt a 5 star hotel with 5 star facilities and service.
A word of caution is to read the cancellation policy as it is not free cancellation as listed on bookings. I only found this out when CV-19 restrictions were changed and I enquired about potentially moving dates. Thankfully the trip went ahead as planned.

everything was great, but the bar staff and the staff in the ski shop were amazing. So helpful and responsive. Staff in spa, front desk and at breakfast also very good. Rooms very comfortable, food good, and extremely well-organised.
It’s tough to find anything, really. maybe the decor wasn’t my favourite, but that’s just me.

Lovely hotel with comfortable rooms and fabulous spa. The personnel was available and very friendly. Serious drawback that puts in doubt the 5*hotel rating is the restaurant. The food variety, presentation, and overal gastronomic level, including in he Black Diamond so called haute gastronomy restaurant, leaves much to be desired.
We ate much better in many 4*hotels, sorry. For the rest, I can say, the hotel is smart and very well located, real ski in and out. Ski rental service was fabulous.

The bar, restaurant, ski shop and housekeeping staff however, were nothing short of lovely and accommodating. We can’t fault them.
Koh-I-nor review
We were disappointed with our stay at Koh-I-nor. We were really looking forward to our time here but were met with disappointment after disappointment since arrival. The service from the receptionists in particular, they seemed uninterested in talking to us, very unhelpful; for example, our room key stopped working and we had to go down to reception 3 times just to ask them to fix it which they reacted to as if it was an issue on our end and were rather dismissive about the situation. We also had to ask multiple times for Information regarding storage of our skis which they gave minimal details on, all this should have been detailed upon check in to save us walking around in ski boots and holding our heavy ski equipment, additionally, we weren’t aware you could ski from the hotel until our third day staying. We found out from another guest. Asking for any assistance at reception was a painful and off putting experience to be honest and we lost so much valuable holiday time just going back and forth with the receptionists.
The room itself was supposedly sound proof but we could hear loud talking in the corridors, noise coming from the rooms above plus the mattress was like sleeping on cardboard, it’s not very comfortable.
Overall our stay at Hotel Koh-I-Nor was less than ideal for a place that classes itself as upscale. Very disappointed and would not recommend.
