Nice place to stay for a quick stop. Very central and nearby the rum house and the seaside.
Has a restaurant if you don't want to go around looking for food but we didn't try it.

Great view, hotel right on the coast
Lots of mosquitoes. Window nets would help

The location was super although there was a building site just in front. It was a bit noisy in the morning but we got up by 8am anyway.
We liked everything especially the breakfast view of the beach and the rocks, so peaceful and beautiful.

Great views, really lovely staff and breakfast was great. Complimentary drink on arrival. Room cleaned daily (changed bins/fresh towels etc).
Hotel restaurant on the sea (ate breakfast/dinner basically on the beach)
Room could have used air conditioning as we stayed during a June heatwave.

Amazing!!! I’d love to go back one day.. The staff was just super kind and generous. First night we had a problem with our room and even tho it was around midnight we solved everything on the phone and they provided a new room for us in the next few minutes. The breakfast are really good - just everyday the same. And oh my godness the view? just beautiful. In the evening you can sit there with some drinks and order delicious food - try the cheeseburger. Another positive thing about the location is, that right next to the hotel there is a pool, where you pay around 1€ to go in for all day. We paid 4€ for 2 people, sunbeds and an umbrella. There is also free parking near the hotel, small supermarket, pharmacy, ATM and few restaurants/snack bars. Loved this place, recommend 10/10.

The breakfast was fantastic and the staff preparing and serving it were wonderful. There were homemade breads every morning and a lovely array of options. The location was beautiful, right on the beach and aside from an aggressive cat stealing our food when we sat outside, we have no complaints.
It was difficult to reach the hotel when we arrived at the airport and our pre-arranged transportation wasn't there. We waiting 45 minutes and then ended up taking a taxi to the hotel. We finally were able to reach the hotel by the time we arrived in Porto da Cruz, which was a good thing because we weren't sure how to find it without their information.
I also strongly recommend renting a car if staying in this area of the island. We planned to rely on buses to get back and forth to Funchal but that was very time consuming (an hour each way) and cut into our time for sightseeing. So we relied on taxi's but those were about 50 euros and greatly ate into our daily budget.

The location was absolutely perfect, in the middle of some absolutely stunning views and walks. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room had everything you need. The breakfast was great. Absolute value for money.
The only thing I could say to improve my stay was that the bed could have been a bit more comfortable.

Everything was perfect

It was located in a really good position, easily accessible with car, always provided a parking spot in the vicinity. The rooms were relatively clean. The personal were really kind and warm-hearted.
The rooms were simply SUPER small, extremely humid and cold. The humidity was more than disturbing, caused us throat-ache after a while. The cleaning women, before we arrived, used a large amount of chlorine-containing cleaning agent, which could not be aired out of the rooms, since the whole circulation of the hotel is an absolute mess. We had to leave the windows always open to keep humidity from precipitating all over cold surfaces. The walls of the rooms can be heard through, you can easily hear when somebody stepped once in the neighboring room, which speaks of bad insulation, badly made rooms. The whole building is old and badly built-up. The whole building needs immediate renovation!
In addition, what needs to be mentioned is that we had sand on the bed sheets, meaning that somehow all the clothes and bed sheets, towels or whatever are washed together, in the same washing machine and therefore, the sand remains in the sheets. You could see and feel sand everywhere on the bed.
And why was the Nature Madeira Guest House unlocked? The Villa Bella was always locked and the "cheaper" hotel not? Security of the other guests are less important? That displays simply a lack of respect towards others. We could have afforded the Villa Bella as well... that's not about money.

Near to the market and to the restaurant, nice view from nearby, good location.
A tiny bathroom. A little tight for four people, but OK since we only use it for sleeping. We were out most of the day

Everyone was lovely! Andrea in reception was very friendly and helpful. Vinnie in the restaurant downstairs left a lasting impression, always joyful and greeting us whenever he saw us. The room had plenty of space for two adults. We booked a budget room and it still had an ocean view from the window. I fell asleep to the sound of the ocean each night.
Nothing

Exceptionally nice staff, very clean, just really recommend it!
Had a room with beach view.
Really all good. However, keep in mind you need a car in this area and Madeira in general.

Clean and comfortable room with all the basics, located on quiet street close to beach and facilities. Decent breakfast served in adjacent hotel.
Nothing for the price.

I like the friendly staff, beautiful view from the window, waking up to sound of the waves of the beach. I love the quietness and the homely environment.
I dont like that it is too far from Funchal, I had to walk up the mountain for 29mins before I can get a bus.

Porta da Cruz is a smal and quiet town, really nice to relax. There are couple of restaurants and Funchal is about 30mins drive away. Breakfast was good but basic, not much variation.
We stayed in the apartment which has a big terrace with a nice sea view.
Breakfast was good but basic, not much variation.

I did not stay in the guest house because there was a confusion with the booking, but in the main hotel Vila Bela!
The room was nice with a little balcony and went right out onto the sea. I could hear the sea all night which I loved! The staff is friendly and the food was good. Breakfast was nice.
Nothing, I enjoyed my stay - but again: I did not stay at the guest house itself.

Cozy look.
Clean.
Close to beach.
Water was a bit cold. Didn't really get hot, just warm.

We loved the fact that we saw a wild side of the ocean every morning.
little shop around the corner was great for getting something for the road every day!
Normally we get a lot more info about sightseeing but we almost never saw anyone, accept at breakfast (and then they were busy).
Fun to discover the distillery around the corner, sadly we wouldn't have known if we didn't had to park the car there.

We highly appreciated the clean rooms, the nicely smelling towels and bedclothes and the sound of the sea at night while sleeping. Since it was October, one could easily sleep with open windows, since the streets were kinda "dead" from 22:00 on. Also, it's nice to have a fridge in the room :) Tea accessories and careproducts for the shower were offered. Breakfast was appropriate for a two-star-hotel, though we've had better ones for the same or even lower price as well.
All in all, we have to say: on the island, we've seen better accomodations in the same price range!! We actually had two rooms, that could accomodate 4 people. But since the rooms' cut or shape seemed to appear so tight and narrow, we were grateful to have two of them. Also the dressers in the rooms are not spacious enough, in our opinion. In one room, the plaster would literally fall of the wall. Other than that we were quite disappointed about our "seaview", which was really just a glimpse of it, rather than a proper view. The bathroom needs quite a few repairs: the toilet seat was more than loose (even though I passed it on to one of the cleaning ladies, they poorly fixed it), down on the shower cubicle there was a loose corner, that could also be dangerous when being barefood. Lastly the shower head was not adjustable in height due to a broken holder. We just think: what you offer, should be working!

We had such a lovely stay at Nature Madeira Guesthouse. Would love to come back there again! The room was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The staff was very friendly and surfing was amazing (thanks to Rodolfo and the team)!
P.S. You can also hear ocean waves from your room when you wake up and go to sleep :)
A bit limited breakfast.

It was a dream for us...the budget room was small and cosy and with sea view, there was a kitchen for cooking, the breakfast and especially the coffee and srcrumbled eggs were delicious and the host Paula and all the staff were very very kind and it all felt like a small new home at Madeira. The place - Porto da Cruz - is so calm and the view on the coast, the mountains and the stormy sea is dramatic and very special. We really liked the food of the restaurant Vila Bela and the Poncha of Vila Bela with a little peppermint in it is the best at the place! We stayed one week and for a short time, this hotel is perfect.
