Breakfast was fantastic
There was a lack of staff at reception and generally around the premises. Saunas were not hot enough
3.5
The location, ambiance and facilities.
No air-conditioning in the bedroom. (Probably not required for the majority of the year but would’ve been nice recently!)

calming
while eating food it was very noisy and cold with the doors keep opening
while I was eating my starter the waiter took it and gave me my main meal

lovely location.
hot in the bedrooms

pleasant staff
could’ve done with more than one coffee pod in room plus there was part of the coffee machine missing where you place your cup so had to hold it in position

Lovely views over the gardens and lake. Good spa facilities although I didn't use them this time.
It's not really a hotel in that there is no bar and the restaurant has only a fixed menu with very little choice. We were only able to have dinner at 6pm which is far too early so we decided to go to the local pub which was far better. Would not stay again.

Scenery is amazing and lots to look at and explore in the hotel as well.
It's satisfactory but not the quality I would expect from a Champneys. Not enough room in the restaurant for breakfast, noticed people having to wait for a table. No room service. Everything costs extra: check in time is later than most hotels, spa on check out day not included, no hot food at breakfast. It all seems to be to gain extra money to pay for things most hotels include.

Nice grounds
I stayed here in July 2022. The facilities were dated. Outdoor pool full of leaves and dead flies. (Two ladies next to me were joking about how they could have their 5 a day or protein fix from spending time in there) The spa area untidy, beds left unmanaged with wet towels/blankets everywhere. Most importantly the food… it was below average. I ordered a Greek salad for lunch @£10 and the it came in a warm bowl and looked/tasted pre made with cucumber which was off. Dinner was similar- pre made and reheated. I sent my main course back because the chicken was cold and they reserved the same dish (cold chicken) just a little warmer after been put under the grill.
The staff are lovely.. just not enough of them with much experience.
For the price of this place for a spa weekend. Be mindful, you may only get value from the naturally beautiful ground.. but not the food/facilities.

Not much
Poor staff. No welcome or explanation of facilities. No breakfast available as needed to leave for work at 7am
Made to feel second class, as only bed and breakfast

large bed
poor service in restaurant and could not get any drinks except wine

Totally wonderful stay. The staff are excellent especially the lovely Anna on reception. Anna was wonderful and took time and care to modify my booking and get me a ground floor room because I have had spinal surgery. The food was lovely and fresh in the dining area with lots of fresh fruit. The seving staff were so lovely and attentive. The swimming pool was amazing and got alot quieter later in the evening.
Nothing. I loved my stay.

Excellent food especially dinner. Courteous, friendly, helpful staff. Enjoyed the range of facilities in the spa area. Would like to have a longer visit next time.
Restaurant and Orangery stopped serving teas and coffees after 5pm but staff provided us with tea at our request. Maybe would be a good idea to have a self service machine for guests to use rather than having to go back to rooms to get tea!

location was the most beautiful place ever
overpriced for the service received. witnessed a pregnant lady trying to make a calm complaint on departure and she was told by the staff that's not her problem and point blank refused to get a manager. this was the same staff member that on arrival made it very confusing by telling us that it wasn't a hotel so we were left very confused and didn't know if we were in the wrong place.

Location was great, grounds looked lovely but no time to explore them unless we paid extra
Didn’t think the rooms were worth the price, no air conditioning on a hot night so couldn’t sleep, staff seemed to forget about us at dinner so dessert took ages, breakfast didn’t have basic requirements like muesli and porridge. Didn’t know until after booking about time restricted use of facilities and unable to check in until 5pm. Couldn’t book use of spa facilities until we checked in and of course by then the sessions were fully booked (although we were allowed in after seeing on the screens that it wasn’t busy), overall it wasn’t worth the very expensive cost and it was disappointing

The location is stunning, we were lucky to have great weather and it really made it lovely on the last day. In general it was all clean and our turn down service was done as soon as we left the room basically. We had treatments which were nice.
We didn't get all of the information at the start of the trip, it seemed like on multiple occasions one member of staff would tell us one thing and then another would say something different. We didn't have dinner included but we did pay to have it at the hotel on the first night and it was seriously underwhelming, steak was chewy, portions were small, (i know its a spa) but it felt like eating in a cafateria. We also had treatments on the second day which were lovely but both me and my partner felt they were pushing their products on you, they clearly have an elemis products arrangement, it takes away from the enjoyment when you get the hard sell like that after. In general i would say that for the price you pay (the weekend was a touch shy of £1000) its not really the 5 star experience inside that you expect it to be.

Spa facilities and gym classes
Food wasn’t good. Bread stale. Service poor. Not enough staff on hand to help. Room could’ve been cleaner- mud stains on carpet. Cutlery at restaurant not washed properly.
3.5
Spa facilities
They put bad food on the menus for breakfast and then if you want something decent you have to pay extra and same with dinner
The food wasn’t nice either
Hardly any selection of food
No bar
No snacks
Staff are so rude and unhelpful with the exception of the lady at the reception

The Spa facilities are good - but there are not enough comfortable beds/chairs for guests - seemed overbooked.
I was disappointed with late check in and early check out meaning you can only spa for 4 hours of your total stay maximum and it’s extortionate stay on for a few more hours . Spa was nice, but there wasn’t enough beds for all guests in spa. Other than dinner we weren’t able to get a snack or drink at all - and they only had wine champagne and soft drinks. Other than reception halls and rooms look dated, bed was rock hard and TV didn’t work. Booked B&B but only ‘continental’ included, so had to pay for anything cooked -and full English was a little odd with no pork or white bread offered. Overall, disappointing. Terrible value. Wouldn’t stay with Champneys again.

Very poor food quality and poor attention to detail.
Our room was set up for one person even though we were travelling as a couple. Very disappointing all round and will not be back.
