It’s just few steps away from the main central train station, which is a huge advantage and also 5 min until the main shopping street and other attractions, like the beautiful WasserTurm and its garden.
the very old system of leaving the keys in the reception, instead of having a chip card to enter the hotel and rooms.

Good location

This was my third stay here. Travelling by train and needing a room for a short stopover means that the combination of location and price of this hotel is just good for that.
The window of the room did not close properly and would have let the traffic noise in all night, so I asked for another room, that was provided. The new room was ok, the hotel is not luxurious but good for one night stay. The breakfast was good, especially for the price, but service was a bit absent-minded. To get coffee, I had to walk in the kitchen to interrupt the employee while she was concentrating on filling the dishwasher.

The location and the staff
The bed was tiny and way too hard. I woke up at 5 am with a horrible shoulder pain and couldn’t get back to sleep. The walls are thin so, even in the peaceful room, noise starts at 7am. At the toilet you had to press the button for a minute for it to swallow toilet paper. If it had been 40€ or less I would understand the quality, but it was more around 60€.

Roller shutters on balcony door because of streets noise

Location, cleanness, staff, ease of checkin, checkout. Perfect value for money. Very high 3*
Perhaps the room was a little cooler for this time of the year, but the bed was comfy and warm!

location: 3 mins. walk from Mannheim Hbf., 13 mins. walk, 10 mins. by tram to city center.
staff: helpful, friendly.
early check-in possble.
luggage storage available.
one elevator to rooms on 1st-4th floor.
smooth free wifi.
key for both sides of the room door, have to leave the key at the counter when out of the hotel. (the staff will remember your room number, good)
room:
big enough for open two luggage still enough space walk around.
single bed with very comfortable mattress.
good lighting with big window and blackout curtains.
functional heating.
good sound proof.
big closet with lots hangers inside.
eco-TV will turn off automatically after no action for a while.
seperate shower with good enough hot water and water pressure.
no kettle in the room.
refrigerator a little bit small.
not a problem for me personally just for reference, the elevator was out of service when i checked-out, had to bring my two luggage down from 4th floor.

Very comfortable location, nice quit street close to main train station.
The furniture inside is outdated the bathroom needs to be refreshed.

I loved the honest 1960s decoration. So many hotels replaced their wood panelled rooms with ghastly 'design'. Hotel Wegener looks authentic. The breakfast room is straight from a 1960s movie! Also, the 'breakfast lady' was totally in control in a pleasant, calm way. Thank you!
On Monday the 'breakfast lady' wasn't there and we noticed the difference: dead flowers on the table, rubbish containers missing, spoons missing, no fruits.

All good.
A very noisy place....hard to sleep when windows open.

Location was great, did not try the breakfast
The fact that the bed was made of two separate mattresses was pretty uncomfortable. The first floor was noisy because it is a high traffic area

Very nice friendly staff and the breakfast was awesome. Close to the train station and also a Corona Rapid Test station was nearby.
Coffee/Tea would have been nice outside of breakfast hours, where you could help yourself.

The staff was very friendly, breakfast was nice, tasty. The room was big, bed comfy.
The noise from the street was too loud, that I couldn't sleep.. windows are old and leaking...you can hear everything from outside and it's also cold in the room because of that. From that reason I only can recommend this hotel if you are willing to sleep with earplugs.

We prefer two pillows each. The hotel staff was kind and gave us additional pillows. The breakfast often ran out of scrambled eggs.
Our room, #66 was large and very nice. The breakfast is generally excellent. The hotel was in a quiet area and it is located near the main train station and trams. We are touring in Europe for several months and so far this is our favorite hotel. There is a supermarket a block away.
