Rooms are a bit noisy

Property was very clean and cute!
Was not aware this property is in a sketchy area. Our Uber diver told us to be careful walking around at night.

Staff were all very lovely, friendly, and very attentive, which is a shame given how terrible everything else is. I did, however, only encounter one staff member who spoken English so be prepared to use your hands or have a translation app at hand if you don't know any Spanish. Again, the staff are all very nice, so if you're like me and speak very bad broken Spanish they'll still do their best to understand what you're trying to say and help you out.
Without doubt, the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in. The walls, door, and roof of the room you stay in are basically just for privacy and do absolutely nothing to dampen the noise from inside or outside the hotel. The door to my room directly faced that of another guest and I could hear him and his partner's lovemaking as though they were doing it right beside me - absolutely disgusting! Other people in the hotel were just as bad, constantly slamming doors, having conversations in the hallway, and shouting at one another across the hotel. I was on the top floor, so I've no idea what could possibly have been happening above me, but it sounded like a landslide had washed over the hotel in the morning with the constant banging, stomping, and crashing sounds coming from the roof. Inexplicably, there was also a rooster crowing at almost hours of the day and several dogs barking loudly in the street. You expect this kind of noisiness from hostels but not from a supposed three-star "hotel".
The location is fine during the day as you are relatively close to most of Quito's main attractions in the old town and the streets are busy and full of people. During the night, however, it's a totally different experience. There's almost nobody on the street except for delinquents past 6 or 7 at night, and virtually every shop is closed. There are no food places in the immediate vicinity except for a rather nice pizza shop in the same street, but unless you feel like having Italian for dinner every night you'll have to walk a good 10 minutes both ways along some rather sketchy streets to find something else.
As other reviews have pointed out, the stairs are also a complete nuisance. If you are an older person, suffering from altitude sickness, or even just unfit, it's going to be a rough journey to and from the hotel every day.

The hotel has an excellent location.
Restaurants, supermarket, park and the old town can all be reached on foot in a short time.
The room is a dream - very spacious.
The bathroom including the shower is also very large.
Super comfy bed, nice couch and even a small fireplace.
From the balcony you have a beautiful view.
All in all, nothing was missing.
The staff is very friendly and tries to help with words and deeds despite language barriers.
We could even leave some of our luggage there for a week for a small fee.
If we travel to Quito again, we will gladly stay at Hotel David again.
Thanks for the nice days!

The location near the center of the city was great. Just across from a park, right off a main thoroughfare. The staff were all excellent. I tried Spanish, but quickly learned that most of the front desk staff speak enough english to get by. The room, although small, was perfect for me. The parking garage that is available
is right across the alley and is only $5 a night. The shower water was nice and hot.
Coming from sea level, it would have been nice to have a room on the first floor.

The hotel was not in a very nice area. We were told that someone would be waiting for us at the airport and no one was there. Leaving us to take a taxi. Upon arrival we were told a cash price for the room. When we asked to use a credit card the price increased over $40.00. The room we were given was on the ground floor. There was a woman, I believe she was a employee, talking very loudly on the phone until very late in the night.

to noisy also problem with water
to many stairs
breakfast was horrible
internet works ok
staff only a lady that was on front desk was very helpful n friendly and give all the info about the city were you can go and tours
no a/c

the owner or manager of property was very rude at the beginning no a person to work in customer service at all very un polite n rude not friendly at all
they say on booking.com a price n they changed there because the price with offer that said is cash only if you pay with credit they charge like 20 dollars more insane all this also they charge some extra fees first time I heard about it also when I get there they try to give me a simple room not the one I reserved and they even say anything they gave me at first an small room n charged as suite the experience was horrible

The staff were very friendly
we booked this hotel from the overall rating and were quite surprised at such a high rating. The staff were very friendly but that’s where it stopped. Our room toilet plumbing did not work for an hour, the facilities were falling apart one ex: toilet seat broken, etc. There was a smoke alarm in the room that kept going off several times an hour and the noice … if you do decide to book bring strong sleeping pills because that’s the only thing that saved us. Can’t comment on breakfast as they open at 8am and we checked out before then. Such a shame because the staff are lovely ..

Great location, very cute building and the fountain is a nice touch. The breakfast is standard for Ecuador (eggs, bread, fruit, juice, and coffee/tea), but tasty.
There is no fresh water for guests to refill water bottles - only hot water. This was a letdown as most cheaper hostels we stayed at had this available.

Location and suite room
Breakfast a bit poor

Location was OK. On a main road and opposite a park
Four flights of steps up from the road to the hotel. Then my room was on the 3rd floor. I was struggling with the altitude and none of the staff offered to carry one of my 2 bags up the stairs to my room for me.
The room I had was very small, and the bathroom was SO SMALL a person could barely fit inside it!
The whole hotel amplifies any noise....staff and other guests on the ground floor didn't have much respect and were quite often talking loudly and it was disturbing in the morning and at night.
Breakfast was up another 4 flights of stairs on the very top terrace of the hotel, so 7 flights of stairs from the ground floor! Ridiculous to get up there if you're suffering from altitude problems and are out of breath!

David is so good in briefing me the day trip. I would gladly go for it as I already had plan. Clean room.
Comfortable.
Got to climb the staircase. But is OK. Good job David.

The staff, without a doubt the friendliest and most welcoming I’ve experienced. and enjoyed a delicious breakfast on rooftop with amazing views.
Nothing I didn’t like. It lived up to what it says on booking.com

the stuff was really nice and supportive.the place it self and the room I got were beautiful and clean.

The hotel itself was quite empty and calm. Good decent breakfast.
Nothing similar like showed in the photos. Our room was with no windows! It was on the 3rd floor with no lift. In reality looked worse than on the booking.com. I would say it could be renamed to hostel. Only that it had a beautiful interior and it was a big building.

the balcony, the fountain, and the old wood. nice restoration
At night, seemed like a funky neighborhood
4.1
friendly staff, good location, comfortable bed and nice shower . provided free hot water for a cuppa
double room a bit small, missed breakfast a few times as wasn’t served until 8 and most tours leave before 8. (even the tours booked from the hotel )

very nice staff, welcoming and eager to help.
we had a couple of cold rainy nights with no available heat, was a little uncomfortable.
4.1
Clean room, cozy bed, nice hot shower, decent breakfast, big TV, close to historic center.
The room is a little small. Rooms are so close to each other that you can hear others talking and the sound of closing doors.
4.1
The location was great for visiting the old city or the new city. Easy to get around. Lots of restaurants nearby, includung a grocery store and the staff was great. Always helpfull.
Bathroom was a bit small but I adapted and worked with it.
4.1
location was good for walking around Quito. there is a good pizza place just outside the front steps
this is one of at least 6 other hostel/hotels piled on top of each other -really in the same building. the one above had blaring music and parties every night we were there. lots of barking dogs around.
4.1
Nice & Clean. I like it in General. They have parking spots for cars for $5. There is an Excellent and cheap Restuarant close to it. It's Called CHIFA.
The Room was too small.
