The location is perfect, and views are amazing. The room was spacious and comfortable. I loved the rustic arrangements of our cottage. Communication with reception was fine, I really would love to stay there longer.
If someone is hypersensitive for the sounds of the countryside like cows, deers, or sheep making noise at night, then his/her sleep may be disrupted.

The view from the property was beautiful. Being in the countryside was nice. The room was a good size and the young ladies at reception were nice.
The free WIFI was awful (1GB). The room walls and ceilings were covered in dust and cobwebs and the curtains and windows were filthy. Our tvs didn’t work. There was no storage in the room and the kitchen facilities were in disrepair.
4.3
het uitzicht!
de douche was wat aan de lage kant voor ons en een beetje verouderd
4.3
The location is on top a hill with nothing around. The night sky was amazing
in-room facilities / quality of the bedding, amenities etc

Best, cleanest kitchen we had on our trip. Very nice area for eating, and relaxing.

We loved the room. It had a unique wooden look. The room had an attached toilet/bathroom, which we loved. At night, we could hear cows mowing, which added a nice vibe to the stay. View from the room early morning was exceptional
We arrived after the sunset, and hence it was dark. Felt that better signage and lighting would be helpful

location is fantastic
the mobile network doesn’t work at all.

We had a private cabin with our own bathroom. it was a great value for our money. The hostel is very cozy, good views, well equipped kitchen and lovely staff.

-Lovely peaceful countryside setting.
-Friendly helpful staff. Pleasant atmosphere. Possibility to meet and talk with other guests.
-The main building is a beautifully converted barn.
-Big modern communal kitchen and dining area a short distance from room.
-Car parking near the rooms.
-The option of a small fridge in the room would have been useful.

had a great view and good kitchen facilities set up, laundry, lounge area
the mattresses on the beds, I could feel the slats below and it creaked every time I moved
not great for anyone who doesn’t have a car as 9km out of main town
4.3
Superb view from the chalets.
It's between Te Anau and Manapouri, therefore a car would be helpful.
4.3
the views from the private rooms

Nice stay out of town. Fair prices, lots of room, amazing views, great staff.
We did get a visit from a mouse one night...our fault for keeping open food about!

We loved our stay at barnyard backpackers! Everyone was so friendly and the communal area was very social and clean. Loved the barn and cabins were great! Wish we could have stayed longer!
4.3
Barnyard Backpackers is quiet, offering great budget accommodation for families. The view from the bungalows was also pretty special! The staff were also very friendly and had endless patience for my curious daughter.
What let this place down was the details. The shower head wasn’t working properly, toilet paper was forgotten in the bathroom, the kitchen whilst new is an upscaled domestic kitchen and worked poorly as a communal working space.
4.3
Simple, but very nice place with great view from the cabins (mountains, stars, roes grazing 10m from the cabin in evenings). Comfortable communal kitchen.
Very close to departure for Doubtful Sound early in the morning.
Would stay there again.
Very weak wi-fi signal in the cabin, but that's common in the area.

Beautiful views, super facilities and lovely staff☺️

gorgeous setting, quiet location
a little too off the beaten path
4.3
Great staff, good services in general, clean kitchen
Capped Wi-Fi at 500 mb per device and day, way to little for 2023 I think, did limit us a bit since our team wanted to download some movies for a longer journey ahead and also backup photos online.
4.3
Beautiful views from the cabins. Modern, clean kitchen with everything you need. Cosy feel to the place.
Limited WiFi/phone reception.

Because it was Christmas day, the owner put on a "nibbles" spread which was amazing. So a big thank you to her because I appreciated this gesture.
Wi Fi in rooms was non operational

Beautiful location. Friendly & helpful staff. Barnyard backpackers had everything we needed.
Nothing.
4.3
spacious rooms and comfy beds
decor was slightly outdated

The view from our cabin, and in front of it, was the best view I have ever had from an accomodation. Majestical outlook over the valley to the mountains. I could have looked at it for ever.
Bathrooms were clean and basic. Stronger lights would be good. The bathrooms were totally appropriate for a 'backpackers' but it would nevertheless been nice to have a bench for putting things on and some hooks.
4.3
best stay I’ve had in NZ. will visit again
4.3
the view, cabin style, farm animals and feels, there was also a friendly dog onsite.
can't really say anything bad maybe if the rooms all
had wifi.
