It is a unique building filled with amazing furniture pieces. Worth staying at just for that reason.
A sort of luxury country hotel with horses roaming in the fields and goats in the gardens😊
Lack of maintenance in some areas such as the pool surroundings.
Lack of staff in some service areas.
3.0
My family used to go the hotel for many years when I was a child. The building remains beautiful and the rooms are comfortable. It has the beauty that it once had, but could be a little more taken care of.
Very charming.
The swimming pool was green. Even if the pH is good you could see the algea. Didn’t bathe since one of the guest complained they ruined their bathing shorts on the pool. Also someone was complaining they had cut their foot in the pool. The tiles are loose and you can see little tiles everywhere.
The area surrounding the swimming was really bad, in desperate need of big renovation work.
Also, the gardens are dry and need maintenance. Really sad to see such potential treated só carelessly.
Small details that didn’t match with the beauty of the hotel. The bar on the entrance should match the rest of the hotel. Standing in the bar I could see a green grade of beer.
Fake grass inside the hotel looks cheap.
The elevator wasn’t working as it once was. This would improve the experience a lot.
4.5
The historic significance and hospitality. The surroundings are just amazing.
Small maintenance issues.

Elegant period hotel with a lot of atmosphere. Courteous staff, helpful. Splendid public rooms.
Needs shelf space in bathrooms: nowhere to put washbag.
Wi-fi via tv is a bit cumbersome.
A wider choice of wines at the bar would be welcome. Bussaco wine is lovely but expensive as the only option for a glass.

beautiful design and heritage. nice restaurant, great staff

Great breakfast. Surrounded by a sense of history. Pleasant staff. Good bath and skin products provided.
A bar fridge would have been good in an hotel of this standard. Room decor perhaps a little tired looking e.g. curtain coming off the rail on one side.

Great value and completely restored!

the historical building and how it was taking us back in time! super interesting! the swimming pool is also great..large and looks like it did back in the time! incredible!
the plastic sheets to protect mattresses and the fact tv has to be on for Wi-Fi in the rooms

That the hotel didn´t change since it was built. It still retains all the charm and the tranquility of good old times.
Very good, using local products and unpretentious cuisine!

Looks like we get back to beginning of XX century with art nouveau design. Hotel looks like museum. Very nice atmosphere. Big and clean rooms. Good breakfast.
3.5
Stunning property and building.
Delightful/pleasant front desk staff
Rich history and slightly jaded, which I found appealing
The owner has no clue on how to run what could be a gem of a hotel, but feels like a ghost town
would be better off if a competent hotelier took over, it is a disaster as is

The hotel is beautiful and preserves its charm. The rooms are spacious. The place has lovely silence and peace.
The swimming pool facilities could be better cared for. There seemed to be some staff around but the swimming pool was full of small leaves and insects that could be picked up with a network. The area around the swimming pool deserved some renovation.
Due to covid-19, we asked not to have maintenance of the bedroom during our stay but our request was not attended and staff came to our bedroom while we were not there.
We requested gluten-free options for breakfast but they were very minimal. Because it is not mandatory the staff was not wearing a mask but they came very close to the clients while they were eating breakfast.

Rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was good. Staff at breakfast were excellent.
pools not yet open and reception could be more proactive to organise thermal visit next door.

The atmosphere was perfect, we liked it very much. The interior of the hotel is very authentic,.4
The restrained, timeless music provided the perfect backdground for the breakfast.
The colored stained glasses are very beautiful.
We're sorry we were only able to spend just a day here.
Value for money is perfect.
We hope that the hotel will be able to operate with a full house in the future!
Thre was no Wifi in our room. Considering the food quality and the variaty, the breakfast could be better in the case of such a nice hotel. Unfortunately the spa and the outer pool were out of order, although the hotel has an enormous potential here for a perfect service. The reason for these critical remarks may be the relatively small number of guests. That is why I encourage everyone to visit this hotel with a wonderful atmosphere.

Everything except the pool and spa being closed and the gardens outside needs some maintenance aswell
A great location and a great hotel , its a pity that in the last two years( due to the pandemic) the spa , pool and so on were closed... Nowhere in the site gives you that information so when we arrived it was kind of a let down. Anyway its a beautiful place that needs some maintenance to make it perfect! Inside the Hotel everything was amazing , the furniture, ambiance and so on but outside there is room for improvement...
3.5
Very interesting history surrounding the palace and glad they tried to restore it to its former glory. Hotel staff were professional and friendly.
The rooms are starting to show some wear even though it was renovated not too long ago. The spa and pool facilities were unavailable “under maintenance”
3.5
it’s a beautiful property!
The spa and pool were closed.
