The room/apartment was in a family's historic (1744) compound, surrounded by a 10' high rock wall. The compound was large with orange and lemon trees and several small houses, along with the owner's 2-story house. The family had a vineyard with sheep and chickens in it and made wine commercially as well. The room we rented had a small living room, bathroom and bedroom and was very clean and modern inside, while outside had rock walls. The host provided a hearty breakfast with fresh bakery breads, eggs, fruit, juice, yogurt, granola, fresh coffee and tea available and milk. We asked her questions about the history of the place and area. She was fluent in English and very willing to share her knowledge. She recommended several wineries to visit and the basilica in the nearby city. She also let us know about shopping for food in the area as the day we were leaving was Good Friday and some stores might be closing early.
The bed was very firm. Otherwise we had no issues with the lodging. Every place we stayed had too firm beds.

On my second visit to Casa da Reina with a friend, we're staying for two rainy days. The farm stay is marvelous in late autumn. Rooms are cozy with comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. The hosts are as welcoming, lively and funny as I remember from a Camino trip in May, 2017. Wonderful breakfast and a great separate kitchen to cook our own meals. Grocery store about a 15 minute walk. Bonus is the wine produced by the owners' own cellars.
Casa da Reina is literally on the Camino Portuguese, so if you're a peregrino, you'll find it easily. If you're coming from Ponte do Lima, for example, taxi drivers may not be familiar with the location, so you may wish to have a map and encouraging word for your driver. Not to say that this is a "not like" but if you don't have your own vehicle, it may take a bit more time to get yourself here. And it is so worth it.

Hostess Cecilia was very friendly and accommodating. Property was beautiful and clean. On Camino.
Hostess prepared fabulous dinner for a small fee since we were walking the Camino and had no car. We requested dinner a couple weeks in advance.
Excellent breakfast with eggs, bacon, fresh pastries, fruit.
Pool was refreshing after a long day of walking.
Washing machine available for a fee. No dryer so wash clothes when you arrive so they have time to dry.

Lovely spot. Super host.
The bed was too small. There needs to be a railing on the level the bed is on. It is too easy for one to step off when going to the bathroom at night (a almost 2 foot drop)

This is one of the nicest places we have stayed in. The room and the grounds are beautiful. We received a very warm welcome. An afternoon with a good book by the pool was just what we needed. We wanted to leave early to begin walking, so we were going to miss breakfast. The owner organized it so we could serve ourselves to coffee and food. This was greatly appreciated.
Absolutely nothing.
