Great pool area. Rooms really nice. Food good. Excellent location
8.0
The pool was a really decent size, with lots of toys for the kids to play with and plenty of sun loungers. We liked the lunch buffet and afternoon cake buffet offered (at a small cost) at the pool bar. The reception staff were particularly helpful and friendly. The beach was only a short walk away, via a nice walk over a little bridge over a swamp.
Our bed was against the wall to the corridor, so we were woken often in the night by other guests returning. The towels were hard and scratchy. The buffet dinner wasn't really up to the standard of a 4* hotel.

Everything about our stay was absolutely amazing. From the brilliant staff to the location and facilities. The food was delicious, so fresh and lots of choice. The atmosphere is very relaxing, both sitting by the pool or in the bar at night. Room was spotless and a great size. We loved it so much and have booked again for next year! The mix of guests is fab, lots of lovely Europeans, no one putting towels on beds. There’s a little town with gorgeous bars and tavernas a short walk away, or it’s a 10 minute taxi ride to town which has the best of everything you could want from a holiday in Greece - just dreamy 🇬🇷💙
No negatives from us, such amazing value for money for a top quality hotel.

The reception staff (especially Argyro - thank you. You were great!) was very helpful, hospitable and kind. The large outdoor pool with its surroundings were the highlight of this hotel. Close proximity to the beach - just short walk.
Weird payment system at dinner, that you have to bring cash each time to buy something to drink, including water. Perhaps it would have been better if the hotel had secured a cash deposit upon check in at reception and sorted it out at the end of the stay.
It is not hotel's fault - some noisy, horrible people at swimming pool made our time there less pleasant.

It was a stop over hotel on the way to the east of the Island but I wished I could have stayed longer
Parking was tight, but the staff were quick to sort that out by moving a couple of cars, no issue

Argyn at the lobby made us feel very very welcome , was very friendly and always willing to help! Valadis at the poolbar was also friendly, helpful and and made us feel relax. Beautiful garden and pool, lovely to hang around there all day in a nice environment. Beach was not far away.

This is a lovely hotel and great value for money. It is a little rusty round the edges if you look close enough (a few wires hanging out here and there, etc but they more than make up for that with the amazing service, great food and beautiful gardens. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Pros: the pool is huge and it is a beautiful setting, surrounding by lush greenery and beautiful trees, lots of lovely birds to look at and activities like pool toys and table tennis. It was also very quiet!
The food is fantastic - all the veg comes from their garden and you can taste the difference. I have seen a few reviews knocking the food, saying there wasn’t enough variety - May Beach chooses quality over quantity and I appreciate that. They don’t churn out food en-mass, they take care with their menu and they only put out the best.
The staff are wonderful! We received the warmest welcome from the front of house team and everyone from the kitchen staff to the cleaners care about giving you the best holiday.
I am vegan and a fussy eater, so when there wasn’t anything I could eat out at meal times they asked me what I wanted and prepared it for me every day. Even on our first night when we arrived at 10pm, they were happy to prepare something for me.
The rooms were absolutely spotless and cleaned beautifully every day. There are a lot of plug sockets in the rooms too.
The staff all seem very happy and warm, I never felt like I couldn’t ask for something I needed.
Rethymno town is an €8 cab ride from the hotel and it is a lovely town, lots to eat, drink, see and do.
Cons (which were mostly fixed when asked)
As I mentioned, not much variety for vegans at the buffet but not a problem when I asked for vegan food - the veg is incredible and the team were super accommodating of that.
The beds are incredibly hard and uncomfortable, but again, this was fixed when I commented to front of house, and the cleaners even came back to check I was happy with the extra padding - and I was! I was very comfortable after that. The pillows are very nice.
The towels are quite worn and scratchy - not the end of the world and an easy fix.

The staff were amazing. I was alone for 5 days out of 12 and they couldn't do enough for me. the location, pool area and rooms are all great. I loved the atmosphere of the hotel and I will be back.
Drinks were good but limited.

The garden. Near Rethymnon.
Bed too short. Noise from the road.

Excellent breakfast and dinner buffets; the staff were very helpful and pleasant; nice and quiet. Relatively easy to get into Rethymno.
A little further from the beach than we had expected.
