Extremt serviceminded.

Esperienza davvero caratteristica, camera spettacolare, personale cordiale e sorridente. Posizione centralissima nei Sassi.

The rooms and property are beautifully restored and the courtyard was a peaceful spot for an afternoon rest in the shade. Our room included a brief story about the person who lived there at the time the sassi were evacuated, which made the stay even more memorable and personal. The owner was incredibly helpful and friendly during our stay. I would recommend Le Dodici Lune to anyone who has an opportunity to stay here.

Very authentic experience, the rooms are located in the former caves the people lived in in this area. Very beautifully restored with modern materials combined with the original caving walls etc.
It is not very easy accessible with car or taxi, so prepare for some stairs climbing with luggage. Bring the minimum.

La ubicación, las habitaciones cuevas, la atención del personal, ha sido excepcional!!!
Incluso me olvidé unos anillos de oro y me los devolvieron inmediatamente. Volveríamos! Nos hubiésemos quedado más tiempo!!!

We loved that it was a beautifully restored hotel in the Sassi area of Matera.
Nothing. All I as great.

Perfect location with absolutely beautiful surroundings. Our room was simply stunning - a huge shower, bathroom and comfortable beds. The breakfast buffet was ample with a variety of delicious options. The staff were super helpful and accomodating.
Avoid this area if you don't like stairs.

Everything….
A bit difficult to find among the very narrow and complicated roads of the Sassi

In the middle of the Sassi, best location ever, exceptional price for value. The room had everything, gorgeous decoration, coffee, te, water and amenities. Also the breakfast lovely, no just coffee and croissants, they had fruit, home made yogurt, granola, cheese and eggs. The staff super friendly, they gave us a map and the top places to visit.
Everything was perfect

To stay in an ancient, refurbished cave in Matera is a must, and this was just even better than expected. We upgraded our room to include spa bath, which was 100% worth the extra money. Such large rooms, incredibly romantic with awesome history.
Also located in the Sassi so right in the heart of it all.
Tip: if coming from train station with luggage, definitely have a taxi organised. Or understand the shuttle bus situation. It is a 15min walk however a LOT of steps and e even road through the Sassi.

Junior Suite is gorgeous and very comfortable. Especially loved learning who lived in the original cave home. Great location. From here we explored the sassi and met so many locals who own unique artisan shops. Staff was very helpful and kind. Recommend Le Dodici Lune.

The room was spectacular. The showers and bathrooms were clean and amazing. The breakfast exceeded our expectations.
It was difficult getting hold of someone for the front desk in the morning, but everyone and all staff were great.

What a terrific experience! This is a real cave. It is so spacious and filled with everything you need. Breakfast was lovely and the team very nice.
I think the bathroom could have a better vanity and hooks for towels. Airflow is not great so being able to hang up towels is important. My partner also found the lack of PowerPoints hard. I think it might also be good to forewarn people about the stairs.

Gorgeous cave hotel with modern comforts, surrounded by the history of Matera. Tricky to find initially (as all things in Matera can be) but worth it. Great breakfast spread. Also we loved Charlie the hotel doggo!
Lots of steps to get there so travel light and make sure you've got your directions correct! Also be aware reception is closed 1-3pm

Charming place, very helpful staff who advised where to park and made sure we weren't too late to check in. One of the best views in Matera from the road where it's located. The patio is best enjoyed when it gets dark and the string lights come on, but unfortunately bar service stops at 8pm. Would recommend bringing a bottle of prosecco to keep in the mini fridge and enjoy when it gets late.

The room was very nice and exceptionally comfortable. The ambiance of carved stone and cave was quite remarkable.
The check-in was awkward. They don't bother having anyone available for check-in for several hours in the mid-day and just post a sign on the door to come back in a few hours. Really? Is it that hard to have one person available to check people in like a normal lodging establishment? I was able to get a lock pad combination from their phone service which allowed me to leave my luggage in the office and not have to drag it around. Also, 25 minute walk from the train station with luggage up and down some rugged streets laid out like a maze was unexpected -- just be prepared. The place is very nice but difficult to access.

Unique, beautifully appointed rooms. Wonderful breakfast.
We arrived early....after a rugged journey up and down countless medieval stairs... No one was at the property, everything locked, so couldn't even leave our bags and go out walking. It's a small thing...

The cave room was a wonderful way to experience Matera. It was very comfortable and had all of the amenities you would want. Antonella and Maria Teresa, the reception staff, were very affable, knowledgeable and accommodating. The breakfast was great with a welcome variety.

Wonderful place to stay in a magical town. Everyone at la dodici Luna was wonderful and very helpful. The breakfast had very special touches like freshly homemade yogurt and a selection of fresh Italian fruit. Super romantic place.

The hotel is perfectly situated in the centre of the Sassi (the old town). A beautiful setting with fabulous views across the gorge and very close to the starting point of the walk down to the river, across the bridge and up to the top of the hill opposite for fabulous views back on the town. The staff at the hotel were charming and very helpful.
There was nothing we didn't like. A bar so that guests could enjoy an evening drink in the courtyard would have been a pleasant addition.
