In sad circumstances the hotel was just what we needed. They handled the wake exceptionally well.

The disabled room was opposite the kitchen which was very noisy.

Well worth the drive

Breakfast was very good if you are early. Staff generally very good, I found the staff at the Sunday carvery abrupt. Beautiful grounds and location.

Brilliant

Pool was amazing. Enjoyed the ice bath. It's close to town. Hotel is beautiful.

Relaxed, slept well, had a nice dinner and a good breakfast

Bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean with plenty of towels, toiletries etc.

I am in my 70 now and during my lifetime, we had stressed furniture everywhere - home, school everywhere so older stressed furniture is not my thing nor heavy drapes. My meal good but I love pasta and that was not on the menu due to kitchen renovations which I completely understood.

Disappointing and Sad

I think that this would have once been a really great hotel

Arrived at the room to find it hadn't been cleaned from the previous guests and although the reception staff, organised another room straight away and a free drink with our meal, it wasn't a great experience, we had to negotiate our way past the waiting staff on our way to the room which was very dusty and the wash basin surround was cracked. The evening meal wasn't great, roast potatoes overcooked and dry, vegetables undercooked and hard. The hotel is certainly suffering from a lack of investment which is a shame as this would have been a fantastic place in it's day. Just seemed to be a lack of attention to detail and it does boast 4 stars, so I really expected better

A beautiful hotel in a great location to explore the west of Ireland.

The hotel was lovely, with great facilities and all the staff were polite and very helpful.

The only minor gripe was a lack of brown sauce to go with the breakfast fry.

Just loved every moment of my stay!!

I enjoyed my stay loved the hotel the staff were wonderful and chatty which is a luxury these days. Our room was quiet comfortable and the food OMG I had the 10oz sirloin steak and it was delicious compliments to your chef! This was my first visit but it won't be my last!! :)

Great location and comfortable facilities. Leisure centre attached to the hotel.

I was travelling by train and the hotel is just a short walk from the station. Aptly named, as there are ruins of an abbey adjacent to the hotel.

Wi fi connection was weak.

Relaxing and comfortable

The location, main building, bar food very nice.

We didn’t like the lady at reception. I had called the day before to reserve dinner for 7. She was not very accommodating, saying nó reservation for us and dinner in the Restaurant was only served at 18h00 ón Sundays. We had dinner in the bar and it was perfect nicer more relaxed ambiance than the restaurant. She could have been more positive. My parents room was cold but hotel staff reacted quickly.

I enjoyed my stay but thats it done for this year.

I only eat cereal, so it was grand. We e joyed our night but overall with hotels they are gone way too expensive so we won't be heading to a hotel probably til October. We may get away then.
