The staff were pleasant and helpful.
The hotel was to hot. Didn't like the noise of the fans below our room.

This hotel looked a bit dated on the outside but really lovely inside. Meals were great and staff were really lovely, courteous and friendly. Cleared tables promptly. Bed was very comfortable. Room and hotel spotless. We had a large room, though it was at the back and had no view. It would be worth paying extra for a seaview room but we didn't have the option as there was only a few rooms left. There were a couple of tour groups staying but this in no way affected the service. We had carvery in the evenings which was lovely and great value. Would have no problem returning.
Our room was over the kitchen and the fan was noisy when it started around 6 or 6.30am. The lift is a tight squeeze for 2 people + luggage. We only used it for moving luggage.

Location was good, breakfast was excellent however did not like a carvery evening meal so ate out every night. It would have been nice to stay occasionally in the hotel for a meal. Rooms spotless.
Our room was next to the stairs and elevator so you heard every creak of the stairs and every time the lift doors opened. The soundproofing was very poor between corridors and room and every time someone opened the fire stairwell door it banged shut. Between 1am and 5.30am the noise leave was okay.

The location was great, especially for electric railway.Amazing views.Staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was between 7 and 9 but when we went down at 8 everything was overcooked from being sat under the warmer.I even lost a piece of blackpudding that was so hard it shot off my plate when I tried to cut it.The second morning we went elsewhere. It was raining heavily while we were staying and the front floor tiles(outside)were very slippery with only a thin non slip area on steps which seemed dangerous, especially with there being lots of older guests there.

The sea view room, hot water morning noon and night. Quiet location, staff friendly.
Steps at front of hotel, extremely slippy and dangerous especially when wet.

Friendly and helpful staff; everyone appeared well-trained.
Good views of the sea from the dining room.
Good breakfast buffet, lots to choose from. Efficiently managed, dirty plates cleared quickly. Good to hear the buzz of conversation in the dining room.
Douglas itself is short of decent places to eat, especially on a Monday and Tuesday night!

Varied choice of fruit, cereals and cooked food, including kippers.
Prefer the use of fairtrade products.

Breakfast, location & staff wonderful. Public bus to airport across the street.
No A/C but was given a fan. Could of used blinds, because windows open curtains blocked air, but the sun poured in windows early mornings

Receptionist was excellent, male chap from South Africa .He let us have our room as it was ready @10am when we arrived and we got a sea view room. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. Location is perfect for promenade and beach I will definitely be returning to the Rutland hotel.
Quite large and steep steps to enter the hotel could be an issue for anybody who has a mobility issue . Lift very small and compact i am not sure if you would get a person in a large wheelchair in the lift ? . No other negative issues found .

The staff were amazing and so accommodating - from an unannounced and easily facilitate early check in through to the loan of an umbrella for grey manx weather. They could not be more helpful.
Would be great if they could extend the breakfast hours offering - 7-9 is a little early for a weekend at least. 10am finish for breakfast even if just at weekends would be a real bonus.

The location, price and the bedroom was so much nicer than we expected and having a sea view was the icing on the cake
small lift, but it was adequate, very difficult modernising old properties

Leaving the hotel
Room out dated needs refurbishment, curtains stained, nets holes in and dirty, could not open windows, toilet handle faulty, shower difficult to use as had step into bath no had rails, I asked if ok for disabled it is not front steps are way to steep as the stairs in hotel. After 13 journey the first thing the reception said you have to pay now, not welcome, had to phone whilst in reception as the guy kept going away leaving us standing for 15 mins so I called the hotel to get them back so we could go to the not so good room.

Seafront setting. Delicious breakfast.
Tiny corner shower, ridiculous room door locks, apparently the lift fits 3 people (under 5s maybe) dated rooms and hotel, in need of bringing up to date it reminded me of late 80's- 90s or a nursing home. Most guests were mostly over 70 so i guess they would love it, but I wouldn't be rushing to stay again for my business trips.

The room was as expected. Still in the 70’s. Needs a bit of modernisation tbh. Furniture wise. The bed was so comfortable, Did not appreciate being rang. 5 mins after the leave room time, 1105 the receptionist seemed quite blunt, do you know you should have left the room at 11 o’clock, did reply yes we are just leaving now, ruined my stay to be honest, what difference does 5 Mins make, That was the only complaint to bed fair, hotel needs updating a little But ok.

just aVerage
general design….too narrow corridors, up and down levels, lift far too small….come breakfast time ,two people at once ,took 20 mins to get down…quicker down the stairs…..would cause problems for anyone with a disability.

Typical prom front Hotel really clean and comfortable and all staff from front desk to dining room very attentive polite and helpful a really nice stay
Some may think the distance from town centre but its a lovely walk along the prom and has a great bus service just a few stops into town so nothing bad really

The staff are great and really helpful, they work hard and want to help. The rooms are comfortable enough to sleep in and the bathroom was clean and tidy.
An amazing breakfast selection.
The toilets in the bar area are in need of cleaning and refreshing. Very poor hygiene in that area, they smell really bad every day.
Breakfast was great but on a couple of mornings the cooked option was a bit cold.
My bed was thrown together rather than made on one of the days.

great location by the sea and very friendly staff!
all in all it was a great experience! there wasn’t something in particular that we didn’t like or enjoy!

Super friendly staff, clean room! Great breakfast and spot on restaurant food at night!
Lack of water for showering if i got up after 7:15 am. Low water pressure in shower and virtually all the hot water was gone! Maybe it was because i was there for the TT and everyone got up early!? It was fine again by mid morning or afternoon, but obviously the water system can't cope with too many people using it at the same time!
