Location to meet the rest of my family living in and around the area Nice to hear all the accents in the bar downstairs and attentive staff

Safe defective, reported on first evening, still defective second evening, only missing a battery and cover? Door to adjoining rooms also, picking up light and noise but tired enough to sleep

The first night of our stay was an 18 th birthday party and was very noisy and teenages running around the corridors doors been slammed till approx 12/1 am We did complain and we were moved on the second night and that was ok .

Hotel perfect for the racing, nice rooms, plenty parking and great breakfast!

Very close to the racecourse with plenty of parking. Room was perfect size for one night, decorated well with nice bathroom and comfy bed. Staff were very friendly and pleasant. Felt welcomed and at ease.

Well situated.

Location very good,access to city centre,and public transport.

Paid for Sunday lunch,got seated,and felt rushed,was approached twice about was we finished,was really annoying,there was no seating for residents, 80% off seating was reserved. And no knowledge of the pre-booked tables,being residents,didn't think it applied.

Hotel lovely, some nice members of staff but most just wanted to catch up with their mates than deal

Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice

Very nice , quite and relaxing experience.

Very nice hotel, the room was wonderful , beds were comfortable , in a quite location. The staff was very kind and we had everything we needed. There is a bar downstairs where you can relax and have a beer , however in the room above there was no noise at all. The bus to the center is right outside, and it is some stops away . Overall a great stay! Definately i recommend.

Be aware that 9 o clock the kitchen in the pub downstairs closes, and there no options for food nearby on foot . You need to take the bus and head to the center to find some food after 9 o clock.

A night in Newcastle

We had a quick overnight stay at the hotel, travelling in to attend an evening event. Easy to find, nice spacious car park and wonderful staff made a great first impression. Our rooms were clean, quiet and room to do more than swing a cat. Great showers, and space to hang more than one jacket up. Opting to have breakfast included in our booking, the buffet the next morning had all the classics and friendly staff who were attentive without being in your face. Great place to stay!

Lovely hotel - which I would use again.

Room was a good size, excellent shower. Staff were really helpful. The bar had a lovely lively atmosphere. Would stay again and would definitely recommend .

I had forgotten my hairbrush and unfortunately the reception did not have one. We like to drink tea in the mornings and it would have been nice to have a bit more milk in the room.

pleasant stay for a one night business trip

very clean, very quiet also considering it was on a main road. breakfast was OK with a good range of choices including cooked breakfast and continental options

not much to not like. all good for my stay apart from the main lighting in the room was a little dark for my tastes. car park entry is easily missed if you aren't aware of the location. sign posting could be better.

Good hotel -shame about the other guests

Really like the hotel. Location, facilities, cleanliness and staff were great.

Other guests in the hotel were noisy until the small hours. We think this was because of a function held in the hotel. We could hear doors slamming, chat and banging until around 3 am.

the look at the stay

Proximity to our required location.

Not easy to adjust the temperature in the room. While the ambient light was nice and restful there was no opportunity to have full light in the room for when needed. Noisy guests in the early hours (understandably difficult to control but nonetheless annoying and difficult for other guests).

Clean, comfy and still new

As a relatively new hotel, everything is still looking good and new. The rooms are clean, well equipped, and the beds are very comfy.

Unfortunately there isn't a plug by the tea tray for the kettle, meaning you have to move the entire tray as the kettle base is built into the tray. Maybe a lack of foresight when planning the sockets in the rooms.

Good location. Great atmosphere nice rooms.

It was clean and tidy. Beautifully decorated. The room was comfortable and had plenty of room and nice products. The staff were very friendly and helpful

The allergy information was not great. What was online was not what was told to us in the restaurant. This was a down side for us.

Smart decor, well maintained, plenty of parking. Comfy beds, lovely toiletries and a fab breakfast with friendly staff.

No plug within reach of a mirror for hair drying purposes.

Modern, spotlessly-clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast, plus two eateries annexes to the hotel. 24-hour service and literally nothing was too much trouble (a special mention here for Richard - outstanding!). In a nutshell, quality stay at a reasonable price.

Television in reception was blasting out an action film on arrival, which was off-putting. The shower dispensers didn't work very well.

Wonderful place to stay, great staff and great value for money

Clean, great rooms with comfy beds, lovely bathroom. Everything still looks brand new and spotless. Breakfast was excellent. Great value for money.

Arriving in the dark the entrance to the car park is a bit hard to navigate.

Great staff good bar good value for money!

A great place to stay at a much more reasonable rate than in the City Centre

Very friendly staff. Excellent location, with bus to the Cente right outside the hotel. Plenty of free parking at the hotel, which you don't usually find in the City Centre

Convivial

Easy parking. Decent food options so did not need to leave hotel. Lively bar / restaurant which attracts many locals a real bonus.

Staff very polite and friendly, room facilities good and clean.

Very modern, finished well and clean. Well located and easily in reach of transport links, motorway and shops.

Space not utilised in the rooms, a small breakfast table would be well used in such a large space. Requested cleaners to not clean my room as I was staying 2 nights. Came back to them having been in the room, I know people may not see the problem with this but I had requested no one went in. For breakfast I ordered a melon bowl selection and got a doorstep wedge which was definitely not what I was expecting. Not overly keen on the kitchen staff attitudes in the bar when requesting certain food not put on the plate which I know the bar staff added it was ignored, also food was massively over seasoned.

Overnighter in Newcastle

Great Hotel, superb location, with the City Centre a 15 minute bus ride away, stops right outside the Hotel. Very nice clean and comfortable rooms. Plenty of parking. Great helpful and friendly staff. Superb value for money. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Weekend

The hotel is clean and comfortable, the value for money was excellent, and it felt like a 5-star hotel. The breakfast was exceptional, lots to choose from, and well worth the money.

The bar/restaurant adjoined to the hotel stopped doing food on a Sunday evening before 7pm.would have liked to try the meals but was too late.

Another great stay

Another great stay at Great North Hotel.

A couple of very minor issues - the shower leaked a bit which meant the bath mat was consistently wet. We also couldn't work out where to plug in the kettle as it seemed to be attached to the tea and coffee tray. Compared to other stays this room felt a lot smaller, but it was still comfortable.

Convenient location. Good value with booking discount. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable bed and room with everything we needed. Overall clean and well presented.

Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. Could hear water draining from neighbouring rooms when they ran a shower.

Good stopover for travelling between Scotland and Warwickshire

Second visit to the Great North Hotel - we love it for its location and easy parking. The hotel staff are always welcoming and friendly - from receptionists to bar staff and housekeepers. The rooms are large and well appointed. Although the hotel is always busy we never hear noise outside our room. Three Mile is a good restaurant attached to the hotel - it serves excellent food at reasonable prices. Good range of beers, wine and spirits.

It was all great.
