Nice cottage, few improvements but overall good

Nice spacious cottage in the middle of whalley Close to shops, restaurants and takeaways. Reasonably clean and good value for money. High pressure showers. Lots of TVs. Easily found free road parking for 3 cars so lots of places. Perfect for what we needed 2 nights for 7 of us to go to a family wedding up the road.

Payment was a faff and ended up having to ring the owner for help and to confirm that we had paid as booking.com were notifying me that we hadn't. The key box wasn't too straightforward and we needed YouTube to help us reset it at the end of our stay. Kitchen could do with some more (clean) dish clothes and tea towels. Pull out bed downstairs past it's best.

Poorly managed, would avoid.

Good location. Easy access and parking.

No clear payment schedule and poor communication. Was told £80 cleaning fee payable at property but that was added to invoice along with a damage deposit of £100 (told collected a day before arrival). Then, they tried to take all this from my credit card a month before. I had no idea why a payment £180 more than I agreed was being taken. I had to phone my bank as fortunately the payment didn’t go through as card had expired. On complaining to booking.com I immediately had a sweet message saying they’d invoice me a week before like nothing had happened. I’m 6 days post stay now, it’s me who’s had to chase the refund of deposit, now they’ve asked for bank details - really this procedure should be clarified beforehand. Most would charge a card and automatically refund or just have the facility to take a payment if necessary. I really would advise people not to rent this property for the above reasons.

Comfortable, spacious and a good location. Really comfortable mattress!

Location very good, with shops just round the corner. Plenty of space in the house, well-supplied kitchen, spare bedding available.

Not a complaint - just to say that there were no kitchen scissors which, while we didn't really need them, we wanted to point out in case they had been there but had disappeared before we arrived. Just one comment, probably more for the booking agency - we were a bit shocked by the addition of an £80 cleaning fee for a 2-night stay, which hadn't been made obvious to us when we booked the property. I would suggest that this should be made explicit when booking, and also the rather steep fee we felt was rather an unpleasant shock. Parking a bit of a problem but to be expected in a central town location.

Passable, with issues

It was bigger than I had expected based on the pictures, and is in a great location for experiencing Whalley.

No cot on arrival (which had been previously agreed), but this was sorted quickly after contacting the host. The boiler was not working, which meant a few cold showers, until we looked at the boiler and topped it up ourselves.

Fire did not work, insufficient cutlery, glasses and crockery, (had to take turns to eat), corkscrew broken, could not have a glass of wine!!. 3 out of 4 Tv's not working, front room blind would not open, insufficient water pressure to enable water from taps in one bathroom when shower in use in second bathroom. No chair or mirror in bedrooms. Given wrong key code and was standing on doorstep for half an hour. Have heard nothing back from management company despite having messaged and emailed. Disgusting. Do not go there.

Clean and comfortable

Very polite and friendly owner. The place was very clean and comfortable. We'll located for exploring the local area. Whalley has great bars and eateries which are within a short distance.

Very good

The previous guests hadnt packed the bins properly so the bin men refused to take the rubbish. (Not sure why that was the case when you pay on top for a cleaner) So we had to sort with the neighbours to use theirs.

Location is great

but for the price it needs a really good clean and updating, the shower upstairs is awful, and the yard is really unsightly , kitchen wasn’t the cleanest , fridge an freezer wasn’t clean

Lovely house

The house is just lovely, very handy for shops bars etc, we were up for a wedding and it was a short taxi ride away. We used 2 of the 3 bedrooms. There are 2 bathrooms one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. Everything you could need was there

Steep stairs so not good for someone who struggles with stairs

location fantastic lovely little village, unfortunatley we had storm ciara on the sunday mornig as we were leaving, so that was a bit of an ordeal, hope the people of whalley are safe.
