Like old small houses, recreate old way of living but with modern facilities.
The restaurante is amazing and we had the best diner in the island.
A bit like sleeping in a museum…
8.0 / 10.0
A very nice place, but it has to state somewhere that this is almost like a museum from the Azores about 100 years ago.
The rooms was very nice and clean.
The owner is a bit excentric, but very nice and will try to help you with whatever you need :)
Far from anything.
No space to sit outside, so not very social.
Pool wasn’t clean

This is a truly charming and unusual place to stay, comprising very traditional renovated cottages and larger units, all authentically decorated in the style of rural Azorena home from the 19th or early 20th century. All accomplished with a great deal of care and affection.
We also enjoyed a traditionall rural meal in the restaurant, featuring all local produce.
The swimming pool, although only modestly promoted, was actually excellent.
With the exception of the comments made below, all the staff were fantastic and the traditional breakfast was excellent.
Unfortunately we had a dreadful experience upon arrival. Our flight was delayed by more than eight hours so we arrived very late at night, at a little after 2330. Although we maintained constant contact with the property updating them of our constantly worsening arrival time, when we finally did get there, the owner had inexplicably given our room to another couple. We had booked a stand-alone cottage with double bed and he tried to persuade us to take a twin room, eventually offering us a double in a large shared unit. He was obliged to "evict" the occupants of our scheduled room the following morning and give us the room we had booked months previously, but we would have hoped he might have been more gracious when trying to justify his actions (he had no valid reasonf for doing this) and then in making (financial) amends to us. We were and remain at a complete loss as to why this happened, though the guests who enjoyed the room we had booked for one night of their stay (at no extra cost to them) told us they were very happy indeed with their "bonus night". For us it was the very last thing we needed or expected after the travel day from hell!

Staying at this quinta is an experience in itself! everything is restored to feel like it was back in the day, but with modern touches like a pool and airconditioning. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and the food was delicious and great service.
Nothing!

Loved the history of the place. Room was clean and beds comfortable. Breakfast was over the top with cheeses breads and meat. Definitely do a traditional dinner in the restaurant. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Location was perfect for visiting all parts of the island. A car is recommended

Spacious cottage in lava stone , representative of the home of the first settlers ; nice restaurant in the sign of good slow food .
Accomodation quite humid , as can be expected . ( don’t know about other rooms )

Accommodation like no other - you do not just stay at Terceira, but at Quinta do Martelo you also live through a bit of its history. We particularly liked the simple yet delicious breakfast, as well as fish at the restaurant. Recommended!

Quinta do Martelo is a magical, astonishing place and Gilberto's attention to detail is sublime. The staff are warm, extremely friendly and helpful, particularly Paul and Gilberto himself. The pool is lovely, the setting is exceptionally peaceful with some lovely walks nearby, and the food was delicious. Angra do Heroismo is stunning.

The location!
10.0 / 10.0
Gilberto and his staff are great. The location is astonishing, an ancient facenda not so far from Angra do Heroismo in a lovely and absolutely quiet countryside. The rooms (houses) are really superb with nice surprise. Great experience. And a fantastic Alcatra!
