Warm welcome and a lovely meal.
Little noisy from the road in the morning.

it's a stop over hotel to divide long routes. it fulfills all our expectations.
the owners cook nice chinese foods but, if you order a venison dish, mention them to eliminate all the nerves. otherwise it is uneatable.

Pretty and quite, with lovey scenery
Coming from the south I drove right past as the sign was obscured by tree's.
A sign on the road 100m before would have helped

Clean, tidy room.
Price different to what I was initially quoted. Restaurant/tavern closed without warning for the last two days of my stay.

I like the location, the comfy beds, and you can check in late if necessary. It's a great stop between chch and Nelson. I can stop here overnight and be in Nelson at 9am the next morning.

Perfect location on the way back to Nelson. Kim made the extra effort and made some food even though we came after last call. She also got in touch quickly about something we had forgotten in our room. Big room, comfortable heat.
Bed was a bit too soft for our liking

Located about 17km outside Murchison, definitely a bit of a gem. The pub on the premises is a real kiwi country classic and there is access to the nearby cabling sites from the property.
The room was warm, cosy and had a great view of the hills. The windows were bug screened, to keep out the mozzies.
Nice way to break the trip and good access to the local rivers, etc
No issues

Food was good.

We asked for a quiet motel and were given a unit facing the bush rather than the road. We could hear the native birds and the Buller River. We walked 500 metres to the river across farmland owned by the hotel owners, and it was well worth the walk. The hotel owner was welcoming and friendly.
Being a historic hotel, some more traditional NZ dinner options would have been good to offer.

the hosts were very obliging. the unit we stayed in was big and warm. a very short walk to the tavern for a meal and drinks. excellent venison. in the morning walked down to the river and watched a family take off kayaking downstream.
this hotel/tavern is out of town but well worth staying. covid has hit sone places harder then others.
only that more people need to come back and visit some of the smaller unique places

The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot.
The motel site overall was very untidy with unmmown grass areas and generally quite run down. The unit itself had hair (not ours) and dirt across the bathroom floor. No shower curtain and rotting door frame. The TV was sitting on top of a cabinet which made it uncomfirtable to watch.
