Spacious room
Valerie was a wonderful host who was able to recommend to us a beautiful and secluded off-the-radar walk into the nearby national park, and also had delicious coffee in stock of which we were able to buy two packs
Very convenient location for exploring the Toucan rescue centre & Braulio Carillo national park
Difficult to reach, driveway to the hotel blocked by heavy steel door
Curtains in the room smelled slighly off

This accommodation is located in a quiet and nice area and it is reachable from the airport within one hour. We stayed there just for one night after our arrival from Europe to break the trip to the Carribbean coast. A perfect choice. They serve a tasty dinner and delicious breakfast with extremely good coffee. Very nice and helpful owners.
We were surprised how fresh it actually was up there but it was no problem for us.

Beautiful nature all around.
Cleanliness. Everything dirty. It looks like they do not care about their facility.

Wonderful place to stay! Even though we arrived very late they still had a plate of yummy food for us :) The owners are very friendly and the garden is lovely. From the room you can even spot some hummingbirds. Breakfast was perfect. All in all we definitely recommend!

This is an idyllic home in a quiet area. The accommodation is lovely and well equipped - comfy bed, lovely bathroom and then a completely separate area where you can cook and relax. You get your own veranda and the large glass doorway out of the bedroom is really special.
It's worth noting that the staff here are the absolute nicest I've ever met! Valerie really couldn't do enough to help us during our short stay. Even when we got stuck for a lift, she organised someone to come and collect us! She really did go above and beyond! Personalised additions such as flowers in the room, and setting a table with wine glasses for us were appreciated.
The accommodation is located on a quiet piece of land - with only a couple of other houses. There's a field and views of San Jose. There are several well looked after dogs that come and say hello daily (they really stole our hearts).
There is a great walk in Braulio Carrillo national park that can be done within a kilometre of the property. It's a fairly short walk (unless you start traversing the ravines like we did, then it becomes pretty amazing! We found tapir footprints, numerous birds and stunning flora). It is also within a short distance to the Toucan Rescue Ranch which is a fabulous place to go.
The actual National Park main entrance is quite a while away down the highway, and can only really be accessed with your own car. And due to the accommodation's proximity to the highway (you can't hear it!!) it would be a good stop off along the route.
If you're not driving, bring food and drink with you. It's just easier.
You'll need warm clothes because it does get cold in the evenings! And maybe a waterproof jacket. I think if you brought some tennis balls, the dogs would love you forever 😆
Thank you for a great stay.
The shower didn't quite get to the heat I would have liked.

Wonderful family atmosphere with delicious food, friendly proprietors and beautiful dogs. The location is simply stunning, opening out onto lush green valleys and mountains. Expect a very special stay.

Truly a hidden treasure of far better value than cost. Staff incredibly friendly, accommodating, attentive... Great meals from their nearby restaurant delivered to glassed eating area if desired. Arranged inexpensive transport to hiking trails in Braulio Carrillo National Park; one set of trails only about 1mi away. I would definitely stay there again - wished we had arranged a longer stay there.
