You have to pay at the property and they don’t tell you that when booking. Not listed up front, only on the confirmation email AFTER.
I wouldn’t recommend for a solo traveler, I left.
You have to pay at the property and they don’t tell you that when booking. I asked the front desk to just refund me and cancel and they wouldn’t do so. They said they would put it in as a “no show” while I was literally standing at their FRONT DESK. Bad location, especially at night, not good for a solo traveler. I left immediately after calling the booking.com customer service line.

A great view on the mountains with the volcano. Tasty breakfast with fruit, orange juice, rice, eggs, toasts, coffee. An interesting layout of the room - a spacious part with a shower as a part of the room. A parking lot in front of our room. And there was a fridge!!! :-))
Although the room was spacious, it looked a bit shabby, the loo was really a tiny place, but this accommodation was good enough for one night and the staff was very friendly.

Really nice hotel to sleep on our way to Tortuguero from San Jose as it was very late at night. Very friendly staff and really nice food at the little restaurant. The room was big enough, cleaned and perfect for us.
Nothing at all

We especially loved the covered, but outdoor kitchen, dining table and hammock.
Alonzo, our host, was awesome. Bed and bedding was SUPER comfortable.
The fan was pretty loud.

very convenient for a sleepover on our way to Tortugero. clean and comfortable.
a bit noisy due to a close proximity to the main road but with earplugs I slept like a baby.

Excellent location for a stopover to break a longer journey to/from San Jose or for visiting the nearby Braulio Carillo National Park. Set well back from the very busy Route 32 so as to be out of earshot. Staff very friendly and the room and restaurant (serving limited Costa Rican food) exceptional value for money.
Nothing we didn't like: the hotel was ideal for purpose i.e. both as a stopover for visting Braulio Carillo and later for our return from the south to San Jose. The latter was complicated by the closure that morning of Route 32 so we needed to make a detour (via the horrendous Route 126) to get back the airport. Route 32 appears to be shut regularly so do make allowances for that eventuality.

the hotel is located on a side road but close to the main 32 and also has a fair amount of traffic down so it is noisy

Good location for staying on the way. Friendly staff. Best power-shower I had in Costa Rica. Great value for money.
I don't like the motel-model, where you have car almost in your bedroom, with windows open next to it. Breakfast wasn't tasty.

We stayed one night as a stopover on the way to Tortuguero from La Fortuna. Basic motel but clean and fine for one night.

The property was clean but lacked any amenities.
The beds were like sleeping on rocks. We dubbed the place Bedrock as most of the place was made of concrete. A jealousy window was missing one glass panel.

Good location great breakfast perfect for a stopover on the way to Tortuguero.
It’s basic but the cost reflects that. Good for one night nice and safe.

Breakfast, staff, room size and location
Noisy neighbours ( We could be using not adjoining rooms since there was plenty of available rooms), stained bed linen, uncomfortable mattress, didn't get WiFi password, expensive price

Guapiles is not a tourist town, but it is a good place to stop for a rest while passing through. The del Tropico is much the same. It is a perfectly adequate place for a rest but not more.
The facility is a bit worn (missing ac cover, peeled paint, etc.). Cleaning is just fair.

We needed a place for a quick stop on our way from the Caribbean to San Jose for a flight. This hotel was conveniently located halfway through our drive and was just what we needed for a quick stay. We enjoyed a jacuzzi tub in our room, and dinner and breakfast at the onsite restaurant was tasty and very affordable.
The mattress was very firm, and plastic, hint hint...
