The house is located close to town for an easy drive in and it has a great view of the volcano. We thought it looked nice from the photos, but it didn't live up to our expectations. As others have said, there is an issue with the hot water. It worked fine in one bathroom, but in the larger bathroom the breaker would flip and it would stop working. There also was almost no water pressure in that bathroom shower and hardly any light. Neither bathroom really had a place to put your stuff. The larger one had a shelf, but was unstable and broken in a couple of places. I probably could have overlooked all of these things if it had not been for the flooding. We had a decently hard rain one day and all three downstairs bedrooms leaked. One through the wall/floor, getting all of my son's clothes wet since there are no drawers, shelves or closets in which to put clothes. The second leaked through the floor/wall and through the ceiling onto the bed. Luckily we had an extra bedroom so we moved my son who was staying in that room to the third room, which only leaked a little down the door frame. We alerted the property manager and they offered to come take a look, but we didn't bother figuring it was not something that could be fixed while we were there. We also asked them to pick up trash from the previous guests strewn all over the front yard from an animal getting into it, but they never did. The property manager was friendly and responsive, but it wasn't a great experience.

It’s such a joy when you show up to a rental and the pictures don’t do the property justice. Unfortunately, in this case, it was the other way around. The house didn’t do the pictures justice. Though there was ample space and the house is located very close to town, the house was run down and every detail besides the view and spaciousness was BUDGET. Microfiber sheets, flat beds, old televisions with no smart app features (not the biggest deal but no fun movie time w the kids), scant and crusty scraped up Teflon pans, zero art on the walls, and though the photos make the house look sprawling with a great pool, it was not. Only one shower had a heater (that was installed with a gaping hole in the wall) and all the finished in the house were done poorly so it left it looking meh & dirty even though it was clean. The upstairs bedroom was the best part with a large picture window and amazing view from the bedroom and huge balcony. Sadly though, there was zero foliage so you just felt exposed and not in the lush tropical vibe that is Costa Rica. Also, they bothered to put a second chill out spot in the master bedroom but no working remote for the television so you couldn’t actually take advantage of it. The young man who met us and showed us the house was lovely and communication was easy. Even my kids thought it was meh. Bummed that it didn’t live up to expectations but it was fine enough for two nights and was affordable for the space.

We had a wonderful stay. Deck was so perfect for coffee in the mornings and dinner and/or drinks at night. Common area is not conditioned but we spent no real time in that part. Pool was refreshing. Be nice to have a small grill for making food. Very close to town. Hot water was out in one bath and they fixed and replaced the heater same day.

We loved our time in LaFortuna & we all wished we had booked another day here instead of leaving to go to the ocean so soon. There is so much to do in LaFortuna! This house was a very nice base camp to come home to every day after our adventures. It isn't right in town, which we liked & we had a rental car so it worked well for us. Nice & quiet at night. We loved sitting up on the deck & ate most our meals up there. The view from the house is amazing, even though we never did see the whole volcano because it was overcast the whole time we were there. It was still beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked & even had a blender which we loved for making smoothies with all the great fresh fruit you can get in Costa Rica. Check in was easy & the area felt safe. The only thing I would say was negative is that the pool is very small, they know the right angles to take property pictures & we surprised how small it was when we arrived. We referred to it as "the bath tub". It worked out fine, we really didn't use it too much but if you had more than 2 people in it the water probably would've overflowed out of it. It wouldn't stop me from booking here again but I just wanted to help others manage their expectations. Overall we enjoyed our stay & I would stay in this home again if we are ever fortunate to go back.

This house is a great location just far enough from town that it is quiet, but it’s just a few minute drive to shops, restaurants, and local experiences (we had a rental car). Everything was very clean and comfortable, and perfect for our family. Even in the rainy season we got some amazing and clear views of Arenal from the giant windows and the second floor patio/deck. We would definitely stay here again!
