Peaceful and comfortable

My husband, father and I loved everything. Richard and Denise were the best hosts. Denise provided a wonderful welcome spread upon our arrival. The care and attention to detail within the property, the bedrooms and the breakfast was exceptional. We were always comfortable and well fed! This was my father's first trip to England and he was so taken by the location and the B&B. We agree with his assessment that it was better than a five star hotel especially if you value a personal touch. We will definitely return.

Another fantastic stay

This was our second stay and as always Denise and Richard gave us a very warm welcome The location is so quiet and relaxing and we had amazing weather so we made good use of the balcony The breakfast each morning was delicious and set us up all day. Every comfort is thought of and we couldn’t recommend Riverside Stay enough. Hope to return next year.

Absolutely delightful and perfect in every way

I really don't quite know where to start in describing our stay....it was perfect in every way and Denise and Richard were the perfect hosts. On arrival, Denise prepared a tea for us and I am not talking tea and biscuits! She showed us into our private snug and had laid out a magnificent table with fruit, little lemon gateaux, chocolates, cookies...oh, yes, also and pots of tea and coffee! The snug was so cosy and looked out onto the river and beautiful gardens and terraces. Denise left out jars of sweets and biscuits in case we felt hungry at any time. The bedroom was large with a big bathroom and the bed was blissfully comfortable. Breakfast the next day was a feast, created by Denise. We asked her to surprise us with her choice and she did this on each day with imaginative variations in addition to juices, fruit and numerous options of bread to toast. Mid morning Denise brought through some scrumptious banana bread which we shouldn't have eaten but could not resist. This set the tone for our three day stay and Denise even gave us some homemade muffins for our journey home. Denise and Richard have created a foodie's delight in their home in a beautiful location. We will be returning, just a little matter of burning off a few thousand calories so that we can start all over again. Denise and Richard, thank you so much for all your kindness and generosity at sharing your little piece of heaven with us.

best place to stay - magnificient place quiet and tranquil by the rivers edge

This was a perfect stay in a wonderful house with exceptional hosts – Richard & Denise. The quiet setting, the river at the boundary, the quality of all furnishings, the 5 star breakfast this was the best place we stayed on our trip around England. Densie is a wonderful cook and catered for my wife’s gluten intolerant requirements exceptionally well. Made us gluten free cup cakes and helped us with ideas about trips in the area. A great place to unwind for a few days – so tranquil. The short drive to the house is a bit rocky so take it easy in the car for the last 100 metres. We would certainly highly recommend staying with Richard and Denise and we hope to be back one day!

A hidden gem at the end of a bumpy road

Real hospitality, amazing and non traditional, healthy breakfast. Lots of attention for details and extra’s, separate chillroom aka “the hug”, fresh flowers in the rooms… Denise and Richard are really friendly and helpful. In short: a hidden gem at the end of a bumpy road.

absolutely everything..owners are the kindest people..accommodation outstanding..food..outstanding..every need catered for..even kind enough to give me a lift to where i needed to go.. location..beautiful.. felt rested and peaceful..cannot recommend strongly enough..overall stay..a dream..

Perfect romantic get away!

Richard and Denise were exceptional hosts and we particularly liked our surprise breakfast in the morning. Denise was also really kind enough to make a gluten free birthday cake for my husband's birthday. We loved the large room and double 'American style' shower and the fact that we had both a private balcony and a snug that we could use. There is also a gate at the bottom of their garden which allows you access to the Tamar trail right by the river. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a romantic get away. We loved it.

The road to get to the house is a bit stony but with some negotiation is manageable, however as this a a shared road it is beyond their control.

Wonderful hosts, a beautiful setting and a lovely room!

Denise and Richard were the most wonderful hosts! Their home is beautiful and they can't do enough to ensure your comfort and happiness. Denise is a fantastic cook. Her breakfast was just stunning with so much attention to detail. When we first arrived we were warmly greeted and shown around. The Snug is a lovely room to use to relax, watch TV and have breakfast in. Denise made such an effort with beautiful little jars of colourful fresh flowers both in our bedrooom and in The Snug. Our bedroom was beautiful, tastefullly decorated and immaculate. We had a mini fridge with a little bottle of fresh milk and water. Overall, a lovely stay. Thank you!

Richard and Denise were the perfect hosts. The attention we received was first class as was the home cooked breakfasts. The location over the river was beautiful and made for an exceptionally relaxing stay.

Just be prepared for a challenging drive to the house. The road serving the lane is ....interesting.

Everything about the property was outstanding and Richard & Denise provided an exceptional level of service. My partner and I are no strangers to staying in B&Bs when travelling around the UK, but we agreed it was probably the best B&B we've ever stayed at. Our room was wonderful, with a lovely bathroom and large terrace with views of the nearby river. The entire house is beautifully decorated and there are touches everywhere to make you feel at home. I've never seen a B&B or a hotel provide so many comforts (e.g make up removal wipes, hair straighteners, etc.. I could go on! Breakfast was also a treat, as was the fact that you get the whole place to yourself as the hosts only ever take on one booking at a time. Would definitely stay again and will send my parents for a visit too.

Everything about the property was outstanding, however, the final stretch of road leading up to the property very potted and a little difficult to drive through in low convertible. I'm sure this would be less of an issue in a normal height car.

Exceptional place to stay.

A beautiful property set in a lovely garden overlooking the River Tamar. Richard and Denise were wonderful hosts. The food was exceptional and there was a lot of thought put in to the needs of guests. One of the best places we have stayed ever.

Everything else! Richard and Denise were so welcoming. They made us feel like very special guests. The attention to detail went above and beyond and the food was superb. The views from the house were lovely. Would love to go back.

Just exceptional… cosy, clean and I felt so well looked after!

A really beautiful setting and such a comfy bed. The hosts were delightful and every single little thing was thought of… fresh flowers and candles in my room, a lovely welcome pack and a perfect breakfast including home baked muffins which were packed up for me to take on my journey! just excellent!

Better than home.

Anything under a 10 would be short selling this place. Our hosts Richard & Denise were amazing. Breakfast was organic and wonderful. We probably ate too much breakfast each day as there was such a variety. Any tastes were catered for. At last we found a bathroom in the UK that was both practical and comfortable. Big shower (that didn't leak) lots of room for toiletries, plenty of room for two people at the same time, warm and very clean and modern. The bedroom was large and comfortable and we even had a snug for TV and snacks and tee and coffee supplied at any time. WiFi was very fast and reliable. Plenty of room to do any work on a laptop. lots of power points for phones and computers. We also did a short wall along the Tamar River which you can see from the room. We even had our own balcony. The house is very quiet. We would be happy to move here permanently.

Not a big issue but if you have a low slung sports car the last 50 meters of road to the house is too rutted. SUVs, 4WD and higher sedans are OK but drive carefully. Just another warning... don't go here if you are on a diet :-) Denise is a wonderful cook and you won't be able to resist all the treats.

Amazing place tucked away along the river . We were welcomed on our arrival , house was wonderful , open and bright . Private snug with everything you could have wanted . Many special touches in bedroom and snug.

Richard & Denise were fantastic hosts. Staying there was like receiving a warm hug. The breakfasts that Denise makes were fabulous 😍 and the advice that Richard gives on destinations to visit was invaluable. Would recommend this B&B to anyone who likes to be looked after.

Understated luxury

Denise and Richard are exceptional hosts. Warm and very welcoming. The whole stay was complete luxury and far exceeded our expectations. Every little thing had been carefully thought about from the amazing breakfast to little treats and the wonderful room/house. Shame we were only there for 1 night, will be sure to go back. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you.

Outstanding in every way

Probably the best place I ever stayed at! Richard and Denise were very welcoming, with detailed instructions before we arrived and then a friendly welcome. The room was large and comfortable with a private sitting room and terrace as well. Breakfast was incredible - high-end restaurant quality! The location was excellent - close to the river with a terrace overlooking the weir. We saw herons and other birds from the breakfast table. Overall it was the perfect stay!

Absolutely brilliant - loved staying here and couldn’t fault any aspect.

Superb hosts, lovely food and made so welcome in this idyllic spot. Perfect to unwind but also convenient for many locations.

The only bugbear is the horrible state of the road to access the property - beyond the control ofthe properties owners.

Relaxing, comfortable, just amazing.

Everything was just perfect. such a warm welcome and every comfort thought of. Denise and Richard were so lovely and the breakfast each morning was amazing. The house is in a very quiet, beautiful location with a fantastic outlook. I would highly recommend a stay and hope to go back sometime.

Better is Not possible

Denise and Richard are the perfect hosts. The fresh, individually and lovingly prepared breakfast is terrific. Our room was large and excellently furnished. The atmosphere on our great terrace full of silence with a view of the greenery and the small river is unique.

This is an outstanding house which would exceed anyones expectations! The hosts went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and relaxed. We have never experienced anything like it and nothing was too much trouble. Our only wish was that we had stayed for longer…

Richard and Denise gave us a very friendly welcome and nothing we asked was too much trouble.

My breakfast was a proper Cornish with all the trimmings, very nicely cooked. My partner enjoyed choosing from several other options. The service was excellent. Richard advised us to visit a beauty spot on the north coast - two photos included

The only minus point was the bumpy track leading to the property. However our small car, a Suzuki Ignis, managed the pot-holes reasonably well.

Everything was amazing from the time we arrived and were met by Richard and Denise who quickly showed us around the property. Every detail had been thought of to make sure our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. The location is beautiful and extremely peaceful. There is a footpath out the back of the garden that takes you along the river, and the house itself is immaculate. Both of our rooms were beautifully finished, with one of them having a lovely private balcony overlooking the garden and river. There was a dedicated lounge downstairs for us to use which had a TV, coffee/tea making facilities and lots of lovely snacks. Needless to say we were made to feel very welcome from the time we arrived and ended our stay with an amazing cooked breakfast including a selection of non-dairy products for those that preferred them. All in all we had a fantastic stay and look forward to having the opportunity to visit again.
