This verbo experience was not only bad but genuinely scary!
The property is in what looks like a scrap yard. I understand that hard workers need space to work hard, but this location is not a fern forest! The house is in a scrap yard and there were people burning trash when we arrived.
The house had bugs everywhere on the ceiling and geco poo. I do not want to be rude or disrespectful but I really need to make the truth of this listing known.
The location was hard to find and no instructions were given to access the property. Only after a worker showed up were we able to get in, and the vibe was definitely not super good.

Glad we arrived in the daylight 5 mile long drive in was easier. After camping for 10 days the electric cooler and lights were a treat. There was even a TV! The frogs sweet sounds and pitter patter of rain made for a cozy stay. Great price except for VRBO fees.

Our stay was okey. We knew it would be simple and that was totally fine but it wasn’t that clean and there were rats that climbed onto the roof and into the walls. We woke up at night from the scratching and it paranoid us after some time so that we decided to end our trip earlier. The communication was good and they first also told us we would get a refund for the last 2 nights but then we were told it’s too much time effort to call Vrbo, so in the end we didn’t get anything back. So honestly I would never stay there again and also wouldn’t recommend.

Was looking for somewhere inexpensive just to sleep and didn’t expect much, but it ended up being the cutest thing ever! My boyfriend and I had the best time and definitely would consider staying here again.

Cute little place. Ladder to the bed is steep and narrow. Fridge is small, but does a great job. The lanai is amazing! You feel very secluded. I wish the breaker on the lanai was marked like the water in the bathroom. Overall, great place, especially for the money. Thank you

The ladder fir one is to steep, i belueve thats illegal not a whole lot space from tbe front door to the stairs. Lots of nails coming thru the wall, the hit water is about 5 seconds then yiu have to wait again for water to come hot again. The electric gies off from 11-8, what happens if yiu are an early riser no coffee ir yiu cant heat up nothing. Thats a little odd. Pkus there were centipedes. Very disappointed. Plus there is a little boy walking around telling you what ti do. NEVER AGAIN

As you drive in it was a shock. Directing renters towards the nice sign with Hawaiian Islands to park would help.
Also #1, because we used the code on all the doors as no one was around to communicate with except a young boy walking with a dog.
The skylight needs to be fixed and hot water lasted less than 45 seconds.
So, no showers for a couple days. If you are able to climb up and down the ladder you will be fine, but met the need of putting our head down for a few hours.
The price cannot be beaten, but my husband did not like the condition of the yard.
Its far away from everything, but just a few additions could change this "little home" if it was given a bit of love.

This is a great tiny home, close to Volcanoes National Park. The home itself was very simple and accommodating. We were going to camp originally, but decided we wanted a roof over our head and running water. This was a great affordable option for that.

If you’re looking for a stay that’s a little nicer than camping, but still gives camping vibes, then this is your spot! Very affordable and does have all of the necessities. It’s super rural and you still get the beautiful serenade of tree frogs all night.
The drive in is a little wild, a bumpy rural road with endless potholes. Took us about 25 minutes to get down the road to the house the very first night, and by the last night it took about 9 minutes because we got so used to dodging the potholes. The house is still super close the the Volcano Park, but add that bumpy road time to your budgeted time to get to the park. Apple Maps did take us directly to the house, and the house/parking is gated.
The house itself is behind the owner’s house. It’s a cluttered yard but the area for parking is clear. Some stray dogs wandered in a times, but they were super sweet.
The screened in back porch is the best part about this stay, it’s where the outdoor kitchen and table are located. Sitting out there in the morning for breakfast and at night listening to the frogs was our favorite part.
The inside of the house isn’t five-star hotel kind of luxury, but it works. There are bugs, the skylight in the upstairs loft is covered up, and there was dirt on the upstairs floor when we got there. Not a big deal for us because we camp a lot, just not a pristine kind of place.
The microwave blew the breaker both times we tried to use it, so we stopped trying. The stove top worked great though. The refrigerator definitely works, we turned it on right when we got in. It doesn’t fit a lot, it is the size of a cooler, so make sure to plan any groceries accordingly.
Overall good stay, I’ll miss the tree frogs for sure!

Truly a unique stay within the “rainforest” of Hawaii. Simple accommodations, but we knew that up front. Ladder to loft bed is a bit steep, even for us younger people, so just know that before booking if that isn’t something for you. Very close to Hawaii Volcanoes NP if that’s what you are looking for!

Super easy check in. Found it no problem. We got here in daylight but I expect it would be easy to find at night to with the instructions we received. Cabin 1 has a lanai that looks out into forest. You feel like you’re alone when inside the cabin. Would be tough for someone with a disability as the ladder up to the bed is steep with small close together steps but was no problem with us.

Coquoi in the Hawaiian jungle!
Its a bit of a jaunt to get there, GPS doesnt work so follow instructions! Dirt road trip through the jungle of east Hawaii, the cabins are gated in, on the homeowners property, theyre very friendly, but leave you alone. we came back to the property after visiting the volcano rim that night to a chorus of Coquoi frogs! The cabin is adorable, and clean, we slept great serinaded by the frogs all night.

Cute tiny cabin
Loved the kitchen area. It was perfect for our meals. Love the fact they use filtered rainwater for shower, sinks, and toilet. There are also reversed osmosis water for drinking.
The ladder to the loft is quite steep and can be a challenge if you need to use the bathroom at night and are mostly asleep. Using the toilet is interesting too if you have long legs and need to sit down.
But we loved listening to the singing frogs and the rain as we slept in the loft at night.
The host sent detailed instructions on how to get there. That was great since we couldn't find it on our Google maps for some reason. They also gave us the info on how to get in and out of the gate, the cabin's door, and the wifi.
It's about 24 minutes from the Volcano National Park. So the location was great for us.
The house itself reminded me of those DYI cabins in the woods. Very cute and just perfect for a honeymoon retreat.

Finding peace
The coziness of the house and the peace of the forest helped me sit back and enjoy life. The beauty of the flowers I saw on my walks down the road was wonderful. Being one with nature is revitalizing.

You get what you pay for - NO
I decided to stay here for one night to bridge the gap between 2 other stays. I chose this because the pictures show a cute little house and the price was very inexpensive. I thought it was odd that we couldn't drop off our bags early, which I wanted to do before we went to the Volcano park. I figured out why -

It's a clean place with a cheap price.
Besides the location is too remote, everything is good.

Clean, hospitable, as described
My husband was very stressed about going up that road in the Mustang (we had rented a Corolla but that's what they gave us). There are some limbs hanging to navigate on the road and parking on property is a challenge if you are stuck with a low car. Keep in mind there is no fridge so plan accordingly. The place is very clean and the bed comfortable. The back porch is very lovely and the host is attentive to any needs. You have to converve water as it is rain water. The water did get warm which I wasn't sure would happen. The frogs are very loud so I played a white noise app on my phone due to not being used to it. Cool place!

Nice Experience
It was nice getting away from the big city, like Volcano town, for a while and enjoying the lash forest is part of the island… The host and hostess are very nice.
