The property is off the grid, and runs on solar. This isn't in the description on booking.com, although the host did disclose this after the booking was complete. What wasn't unclear until my cold shower with no power in the morning is that if it's cloudy the day before, three might not be any juice in the morning.
The entry to the property is also very steep and slippery. I had use my hiking pole to get traction. If you check in after dark, it's an adventure.
There is no "fitness center." There is a yoga studio. No cardio machines.
I left after two days instead of four. I was very disappointed and would not recommend the property.

The house is really nice and sustainable but what makes this place great is 1) the availability and kindness of Rachelle 2) the omnipresence of animals, whether it's the friendly cats or ducks or the insanely vocal frogs and birds which sing at night... This choir is mesmerizing!
A bit remote but Rachelle's instructions to reach it make the trip easy

A completely isolated, serene, incredible array of flora and fauna. MORE than I expected.
PHYSICAL ACCESS TO COTTAGE: this cottage is on the side of a volcano. That said the entrance is approximately 10’ higher than the parking pad reached only by stepping on paved concrete and wood blocks. The first morning we left the cottage my honey slipped on the wood block falling on the lava rock outcrop abraising and straining her ankle and knee. An unfortunate incident with a primary cause of insufficient steps leading from the carport to the cottage. Do be careful.

We liked the location in the middle of the rain forest. The cabin was comfortable and surrounded by beautiful plants.
The road was rough going in and out, so it made it a little less convenient for travel.

Quiet, calm no people. They have done ports loose, like goats and ducks, and the area is just lovely. Halfway between Hilo and the volcano national park.
No real curtains, so don't plan on sleeping in!

We've traveled around the world and this was one of the spots my husband remarked "I like this place".
Loved: being surrounded by the forest, friendly animals on the property, symphony of jungle sounds at night. The place was very clean and that is most important to me. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook.
Tips: Make sure you get your groceries before heading there as it's kind of a trek getting out and all the stores around close early. Be prepared to go to the transfer station to dispose of your trash.

It had all the essentials for cooking. Bed was comfortable. Rustic. completely solar powered.
I should have read the description better. it was a bit too rustic for my boyfriend. No microwave or TV. We have opposite tastes. Lots of mosquitoes so need to bring repellent.

People who are concerned about environment will be happy to stay at this place. Beautiful trees outside and I made friends with the host’s cat.
It was so dark when I arrived that I could not find the entrance but the host helped me. It was very cold (16C) when I arrived and during the whole night (though warm blankets were provided). Heating is not available. There is no cell phone reception (I’m a T-mobil customer) and provided wi-fi is slow and limited (no streaming and the host even recommends to turn off notifications to save data plan).

The jungle setting was magical - surrounded by ferns and serenaded by wild birds in the morning, frogs at night.

Location. Full kitchen.
No one came to greet us even as we visibly struggled to figure out where to go. The place smelled mouldy. Kitchen could have been stocked up with some essentials that a traveller wouldn’t carry (sugar, creme). Steps to the house were very slippery and dangerous, I’d warn travellers with poor mobility. New towels needed. We were warned to limit our use of electricity and internet since the site is off grid and has limited wifi. This is all ok with us but I rather know this ahead of booking.
