About this house rental
The Family Reunion Gem is situated on eight tranquil acres, it has a view of Mt. Baker, the Canadian Cascades, and the sparkling Salish Sea (with sneak peeks of the ferry gliding by.) The house has windows on all sides, bringing the Pacific Northwest outdoor world indoors!
This fully-loaded, deluxe home is large with ample living space inside and out. During the summer, the outdoor living is inviting with a campfire pit, an 8-person hot tub, a huge deck, a harvest table (for 10), a hammock (for 2) and plenty of comfortable outdoor seating in both sun and shade! A quaint playhouse in the backyard keeps the kids entertained, and the school playground is only 0.2 miles away.
Inside, there are TWO living rooms, providing spacious, comfortable seating for large groups. There are also lots of quiet nooks where one can escape for a little private time.
We anticipated how families on vacation like to spend their free time - we have entertainment for all ages and interests! Find loads of books for kids, juniors & adults, toys for kids of all ages, card & board games, and outdoor equipment like frisbees, badminton, [safe] yard darts, and all types of sports balls.
Do you prefer to “play” in the kitchen? The massive, gourmet kitchen is well-stocked with cooking staples and outfitted with many brand-name small appliances (try your hand at sous vide cooking or play barista with the espresso maker!)
The tasteful furnishings are clean and contemporary and carefully planned so users have maximum comfort and versatility.
Our home is best suited to sleep 12, but family is best when they can stay together! By setting up a privacy screen and a surprisingly comfortable queen-size air mattress, we can accommodate 14 people (modest charge applies for the 13th and 14th person.) If you reserve for a group of 14 people, let's chat first to make sure you will be happy with the accommodations.
Are you traveling with little people? Travel a little lighter and borrow a portable crib, a top-of-stairs safety gate, a Tripp Trapp high chair, outlet covers, and baby-safe dishes. (It's complimentary! Just please let me know in advance.)
Words/phrases guests use to describe our space: super-clean, well-decorated, comfortable, spacious, perfect-for-family, convenient…
Please make note: Many island homes use wells. We have a top-of-the-line, whole-house water treatment system, so the quality of our water is outstanding. Residents & guests must be mindful water conservation, especially if your group is large. (We'll offer some tips when you check in!)
Lummi Island offers the best of the San Juans with pristine beaches, wooded walks, quiet roads and quaint local events. It also offers a convenience not found on the other San Juan islands - the ferry crossing is only 7 minutes long, the ferry runs 1-3 times/hour and is much less expensive than the state ferries. Spend your precious vacation time relaxing, not waiting in a ferry line! Add an adventure to your stay... Vancouver B.C. and Seattle are both reasonable day-trips.
We kindly request that our guests adhere to a quiet-hour policy out of respect for our neighbors who make this their full-time home. (No parties are permitted at this property, and an outdoor quiet hour of 9:30 p.m. will be enforced.) Please make sure this meets your vacation needs when making reservation.

AARON WRITES: "Kjerstin’s place is absolutely wonderful and well worth the price, plus she’s a great host. My wife and I had a wonderful time here on the week of our marriage, with plenty of bedrooms to keep our family close. We loved the view of the mountains and lake [Salish Sea] through the massive upstairs window, and it’s far away enough from any other properties to guarantee privacy. Hike the Curry Preserve trail just a few houses away for an easy jaunt." August 2023 (five stars)
SARAH WRITES: "Excellent choice for large groups! Spacious common spaces and bedrooms. Huge yard with awesome playhouse for kids, hammock, rope swing, hot tub, and two fire pits. Lovely view of Mt. Baker. Centrally located, walking distance to Full Bloom Farm and Beach School playground. Well equipped, too!" August 2022 (five stars)
SHELLY WRITES: "Stunning escape to idyllic retreat!
Our family absolutely LOVED our time at Kjerstin’s house on Lummi Island! We loved watching the horse graze, taking photos of the family of deer eating in the backyard, and relaxing in a truly peaceful place!
The house is lovely with everything you need as a family, we had everything we needed for the kitchen as well. The kids playhouse was a hit for all the kids ( 4-10 years), the house was stocked with games, frisbees, a hammock, a swing— truly she has thought of everything!
Beds were comfortable, communication with our host was easy and she was so helpful! We all hope to come back here! The place is even better than the photos!" July 2022 (five stars)
KAREN WRITES: "This is a perfect get away home. If you want to relax and spend time with family, this is the perfect spot. It was super clean and everything was perfect. Thank you." August 2021 (five stars)

This property was wonderful! It had everything we needed to socialize for a few days surrounding our friend’s wedding on the island. The outdoor space was great for cooking and playing games and just socializing with friends! Plenty of beds too! Kitchen was very well appointed with everything you needed to cook! Highly recommend!
