Autumn and Winter at Lummi Stugan
As the seasons change, Lummi Stugan offers a cozy retreat where you can embrace the slower pace of island life. Built in the 1970s by Scandinavian immigrants, the cabin’s updated interior still retains its charming heritage, blending light beachy elements with whimsical Scandinavian artifacts. This single-level home is perfect for couples, small families, or anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Lummi Island during the cooler months.
Warm and Inviting Living Spaces
Step inside and feel instantly welcomed by the cozy ambiance of the living room. The gas fireplace offers warmth and comfort at the click of a button, making it an ideal spot to curl up with a blanket and enjoy a good book or your favorite show. Large windows in the living area let in plenty of natural light, even on cloudy days, and provide stunning views of the water and surrounding islands.
The two comfortable bedrooms are designed for restful nights, and the bathroom, with its combination bathtub/shower, offers a soothing space to refresh after a day of exploring. The cabin’s vaulted ceiling and exposed beams create an open, airy feel, while the thoughtful Scandinavian touches add charm and character throughout.
Outdoor Spaces to Enjoy All Year Round
Even in the cooler months, the large front deck at Lummi Stugan remains a favorite place to relax. Enjoy your morning coffee while watching the mist roll over the water, or wrap up in a cozy scarf and enjoy a sunset drink as the sky fills with soft hues of pink and orange. The lawn offers plenty of space to enjoy the fresh air and the quiet comings and goings of island life.
A very short walk brings you to the nearby beach, where driftwood logs invite you to sit and take in the peaceful shoreline. The shallow waters make it easy to explore the beach’s natural beauty, perfect for quiet reflection and beachcombing.
Island Highlights in Autumn & Winter
While Lummi Island’s summer bustle fades, the island retains its charm during the fall and winter seasons. We loved this cozy house in a sweet neighborhood, with a breath-taking view of the ocean and mountains. The owner was highly responsive and kind. The balcony out front was just wonderful. View of the sunset was extraordinary. Sunset Beach was right across the street. The home was perfect for us and we hope to return in the future.

We had so much fun here. We all slept good in the beds. The kitchen was well stocked so we could make breakfast and the trailhead to beach was right across the street, so we went in for a polar plunge and came right back to warm up. It’s a quiet and friendly neighborhood. Oh… and the view is just as special as the rest of it.

A Friendly Island and Relaxing Stay
I was impressed with how relaxing my family's stay at Lummi Stugan, a delightful west-facing house on Lummi Island, was. The property was, clean, charming and inviting and only about 50 yards from the beach, which, as rock hounds, we loved! The Islanders were friendly and it seemed as though everyone waved to say hello. Truly a relaxing stay. I ask my family after every vacation stay to rate their top 3 favorite places - we've rented several properties for our vacations over the last decade - and they all agreed that Lummi Stugan was in the top three!

Great Puget Sound view vacation spot
Extremely nice, well equipped property with close access to a small beach across a quiet road and expansive views of the San Juan Islands and to the west toward the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Canadian Gulf Islands

Don't fear the Deer (Milwaukee Bucks allusion)
This is a great beach front house on the hidden gem of the Puget Sound: Lummi Island. The view from the deck was amazing (unobscured view of the eastern side of Orcas Island and the surrounding sound). The house was great, the bed was comfy, the kitchen seemed brand new. It had everything you could ask for in a beach vacation house. Plus a few deers visited the house everyday we were there...which was fun to see since we live in a city entirely devoid of wildlife!

Lummi island
We had a great time. The view was amazing, with a great sunset! Beach was right across the street and almost no traffic. They left us snacks, which our 16 year old devoured.

Spectacular spot!
Photos don't do justice to the view from this sweet little place. Incredible views of the sound and a quick walk to the beach. Lots of thoughtful touches here including welcome snacks and drinks. Very comfortable and clean space with a lot of character. Love the documentation of the family history around this place. Very complete startup guide and concierge service.

Sunsets and sea views
Our family of three recently stayed at Lummi Stugan and can't say enough positive things about our visit. Upon arrival the house was clean and lovely little welcome baskets were set up, making it feel like a high end resort or hotel. The sea views from every room are incredible. And the beach is just steps away. We enjoyed beach combing, local hikes and walks, frisbee on the lawn, and on the amazing deck took in lots of game time, meals, toasts, and sunsets. And the property manager Jackie was super available to help us with any and all of our needs. Vrbo description is spot on. It's a gem.
