About this house rental
Welcome to the old Big Sky Firehouse, located in The Meadows of Big Sky Montana, across the street from the 16th hole of Big Sky Golf Course and within walking distance of Town Center. The character of this property is enhanced because a portion of it was once the Big Sky Volunteer Fire Station. Of course the fire poles and trucks are gone, but the history of this property adds to it's charm. The property was moved and remodeled and a new addition was built to transform the 3,200 square foot home into the perfect lodging destination for your Big Sky vacation. Walking once around the one foot diameter, vertical log on the main floor, singing "the hills are alive" from the Sound of Music, with both hands in the air, is supposed to bring good luck.
The first floor great room has a cathedral ceiling with a floor to ceiling stone fireplace. The room surrounds you with windows and mountain views. Don't be surprised if you wake up to a moose at your door in the morning. There have been plenty of moose sightings. The recently added custom drapes add to the ambience, and your privacy. An open kitchen with a breakfast bar, dining room, a laundry, three bedrooms with queen beds and two full baths complete the first floor. Climb the log steps to the loft where you will find one large bedroom with four single beds. A 2nd loft room has two single beds under one of the dormer windows, a queen bed under the other dormer window, a full bath and several eating areas for lounging around, playing board games or watching Direct TV. The downstairs includes two more bedrooms, both with new twin over queen log bunk beds and another full bath. The covered patio off the great room includes a fabulous hot tub for working out the muscle pain of skiing or sore shoulders from a long day of fly fishing.
The property is conveniently located within minutes of Big Sky Ski Resort which now includes Moonlight Basin. Nearby are the private Spanish Peaks Club and Yellowstone Club. Fly fishing on pristine blue ribbon rivers like the Gallatin and Madison are nearby. Farther away (2+ hours) are the Henry's Fork, Beaverhead, and Big Hole. Shopping, restaurants and bars are located in Town Center across the street and are a short walk away. There are hundreds of miles of hiking and mountain bike trails in the area. The west gate to Yellowstone National Park is less than an hour away and of course the City of Bozeman is within an hour drive as well.
Two car garage with remote openers are for guest use.
We would love to have you stay at The Firehouse. Make your reservation today!

Great property & close walk to PBR. Fun times!

Great location to town and golf course for our family vacation. Plenty of space and the hot tub was a favorite. More historic of a property with it being the old fire house and you can even get hints of the sentimental smoky smell.
We had a great time!

Wonderful location and facilities. Tons of room. Loved it all!

House is as advertized, Excellent location, plenty of beds, well-equipped kitchen for dine-in, close to town center. Only drawback is that some windows don't have screens and it was a hot week.

This was absolutely the perfect house for our family reunion. We filled every bed. We were amazed at all the utensils, cookware, drink ware, serving dishes etc. in the kitchen. They had everything we needed. They were quick with a toilet repair. We loved the hot tub. We would definitely recommend to other big families. So much fun and a great location.

We had 3 couples and lots of “singles” at the house over the course of our week at the Big Sky Firehouse. The room/bed combinations worked great for us.
Overall, the house was clean and well stocked. The house is in a great location. Easy for everyone to find, a short drive to Big Sky and a shorter drive to Roxy’s.
The contact for the house was quick to respond to any concern we had.
Would definitely consider staying at the Big Sky Firehouse again, should we decide to ski at Big Sky again. Did I mention the terrain at Big Sky is phenomenal?

Very spacious, clean and great location. Thank you!

A huge, beautifully decorated Montana designed house for 17 of us families coming from seven different states, creating wonderful memories during our daughter’s Sept. wedding celebration. Pros: Big kitchen island where we congregated most of the time; very nice high ceiling living room; lots of beautiful furniture including those in the bedrooms; 2 fridge; well equipped house from linens to kitchen gadgets; quiet neighborhood; walking distance to Big Sky TownCenter. I have nothing bad to say. We love the place!!

Great location and home for big family gathering. Very comfortable for the twelve of us. Kitchen is well stocked. Only issue was washer was broke but was notified ahead of time and upon request was given more towels.

We had a wonderful time. The house was located in a really good neighborhood. The kids loved sleeping downstairs in the “cave” and the upstairs loft area easily could accommodate 2 families because of the big living room separating them. There’s lots to do downtown and the guys learned how to fly fish. The owner was quick to respond to any questions I had…. We have a wonderful time and would love to return

The railing on the stairs next to kitchen was loose. We texted Sunday but no one came to fix. A major hazard for my grand mchildren! Hot tu mb was not clean, but did not text until Wednesday. It was cleaned Thursday. Pleased with everything else.

We were very happy with this home. To be honest, I was a little concerned given how reasonably priced it was compared to other properties of the same size, but it exceeded our expectations. The house was clean, well equipped, and had tons of space. The loft area is great for a family with kids and we appreciated the three main floor bedrooms all being of comparable size with queen beds. It made it very easy to share the house with multiple families!

Our Big Sky Vacation
We had a great stay in Big Sky. The house was perfect for our group of 16, was well supplied, and centrally located. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub, especially after hiking the many nearby trails. The community of Big Sky was great, although many places had not reopened for the summer. We did find groceries to be very expensive and followed the owner’s advice and did our big shopping in Bozeman. The surrounding scenery was really beautiful, and nearby Big Sky Resort was another fun place to visit. All and all it was a great visit. However, my only complaint was the slow response from the owner when booking, when we were ready to arrive, and then no response when I sent him my review of our stay and some things that needed repair.

For our group of 14 people (myself, my three children and their families) the arrangement on three levels worked out perfectly. The home is well furnished, as expected. We saw a fox (morning around 7) across the street from the back porch, and saw a moose about one block away while stretching our legs. Wonderful experience.

We have stayed in at least 20 VRBO, in Breckenridge twice, Telluride, Park City, Charleston, Glacier, Aspen 12 times and in Italy, so I have plenty of comparisons for this review. (I actually give this 2.5 stars, but my average review is ~4.8 stars!) This house has the potential to be a very good rental, but it needs some serious work. The garage is full of new cabinets and some used furniture, so it appears as if the owners have a plan. They need a designer and they need to spend some money on the home!
The positives: location to the Meadow Village, good cleaning crew, and lots of bedrooms.
The negatives: the furnishings - everything is old, dated and mismatched - it looks like they sent 20 people to secondhand stores with instructions to buy brown furniture.
*The carpets desperately need cleaning!
*There is WAY too much furniture upstairs (in the ~ 400 sq ft loft there are 2 sofas, 2 love seats and a large sectional, a queen bed, 2 twins, 2 coffee tables, several chests, several floor lamps, several end tables, an armoire AND the ceiling is only above 6' down the middle 4' of the room. *There is a separate bedroom upstairs that has 4 twins (2 completely different sets). This room could be cute as a kids' room but now it's just forlorn. *The mattresses in the 3 main level bedrooms all squeak with any movement - not good for sleep.
*The kitchen is poorly equipped. There are 5 glasses and 8 plastic cups. (There are a few wine glasses and mugs.) And again, all are mismatched. Is it that hard to buy a set of glasses at Walmart?? There are a total of 8 forks. With the exception of 2, all the pots & pans need to be thrown out. A big deal is made that this place can sleep 16, but the kitchen can't feed them! *The downstairs has two bedrooms, one with a huge king log bed & twin bunk above. The ceilings are ~7' downstairs so anyone over 4' tall will hit their heads on the ceiling if they sit up in bed! Anyone sleeping in the king below, will hit their head because the boxspring and mattress leave about 18" clearance. The other bedroom has an unassembled bed which appears to be another log bunk. There were some maintenance issues that I contacted the agency about after we left, the most serious was the grease trap on gas grill had not been cleaned resulting in a fire that took 10 minutes to go out, with the grill lid closed.
Unfortunately, there is nothing about this house that makes the renter feel welcomed, valued or appreciated. Do not recommend.
