Spend sparkling blue days in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom — in one of its most beautiful old farmhouses. Highfields, perched just up the hill from Caspian Lake and minutes to Hill Farmstead Brewery and much more, is that dream come true. Gaze out over acres of lush forest. Enjoy XC ski trails, Craftsbury Outdoor Center, a lovely public beach, hiking, biking and many nearby ski resorts, the location is perfect for your getaway any season of the year! Highfields' historic floorboards and architecture delight with the charm of the past, while modern amenities ensure you'll enjoy every modern convenience.
The space
Highfields is a historic Northeast Kingdom farmhouse located in Greensboro, Vermont. With 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and enough space for up to 14 guests with some bed-sharing, it is the ultimate getaway spot for those looking to step back in time while enjoying modern amenities.
For parties greater than 4, additional guests are $25/night. This fee is in place to accommodate the extra use and cleaning associated with turn over of the space between guests. We do ask that each guest use one bed during their stay. Additional beds used will be assumed to have slept at least one guest each and extra guest fee will be charged accordingly. Effort of course will be made to communicate with guests should bed use indicate more guests than that guests reservation indicates.
**Note: For parties of 1 to 7 guests, you will get access to 4 bedrooms (master w/ king, BR w/ 2 singles, BR w/ a double, and BR w/ a Queen), 2 bathrooms, the full kitchen, and laundry room.
->To cut down on cleaning costs the upstairs studio, attached bedroom with two singles, small kitchenette and its bathroom will be CLOSED for parties of 7 or less. This is to make the house more affordable for smaller parties.
Parties of 8+ guests will have access to the whole house.
Enjoy a roaring fire in the living room or in the outside firepit (Guests bring their own firewood or ask Host to purchase for nominal fee+ cost of purchase). Cook unforgettable meals in a well-equipped kitchen using fresh, local ingredients from the Willey's Store and local farmers' markets. Have a barbecue outside on a propane grill. Throw on your skis, snowshoes, or sneakers and go explore the surrounding wilderness. Whether it's 80ºF or -30ºF, you'll fall in love with this house and all the wonders around it. Take a look at the neighborhood section of this description. This area has so much to offer!

We had a great stay in this awesome farmhouse. We needed a big spot with lots of rooms and this workout of perfectly for us. The kitchen is fully equipped and it's a wonderful place to stay if you're in the area!

Our family stayed here for about a week in July while visiting friends living on on a nearby farm. The house was charming, with plenty of space and comfortable beds. The location is convenient to the Lake, close to Hill Farmstead Brewery, and nearby the greatest general store ever. The grounds are beautiful too, and star gazing amazing.

Isolated, but lovely
My adult children stayed here, and while they did find the home huge, they also enjoyed the warmth of the spaces they used. We are grateful to have found such a lovely location in this specific area.

The home is a quaint, rustic old farmhouse with lots of character and a nice porch on the front side looking out on the lawn and the beautiful VT landscape. We had a couple of wild turkeys remind us it was morning and time to get up. :) The house lived up to it's billing though I wish the lawn had been mowed. The grass was quite high and made lawn games like Bocce difficult to play. You should also know there are no TV's on the property. We were fine as we like to read and go for hikes but those seeking to unwind to television won't find it here.

If you're looking for a beautiful house, on a beautiful property, in a beautiful area, then this is it. The pictures for the listing are a bit underwhelming which is unfair to the house, which is well-appointed, warm, spacious, charming, unique, and surrounded by seemingly endless rolling greens, lush woods, beautiful flowers, etc. There are a few small towns nearby (very small), which are helpful for a night away from cooking or picking up groceries or whatever else you need, but to spend too much time away from the property would seem to defeat the purpose of venturing up there to begin with. Access to great hiking, and food, and beer. Concerts on the green; honor-system heirloom pork shops; fishing ponds around every corner. Did i mention great beer?

This is a farmhouse with plenty of character in a beautiful setting. It's updated in all of the right places but doesn't feel too modern. It's a 10 minute drive to the public beach, and a short car ride away from Hill Farmstead, plenty of hiking, and just about anything else that the NEK has to offer.
