House is perfect for a for a large family, just pay attention that there are only 2 bathrooms, I did not notice that when I booked, but we made it work.
Older house with a lot of character, we loved it and the decor.
We did not hangout at the house too much because we were out and about, but big enough to hang out and be very comfortable.
Location was great. Host was great and very responsive from booking to departure.

Ryan is a very good host. We forgot clothes and he packaged them up and sent them back to us. It was a great location for the airport. It was a great location to eat food and go out. We had a great time. My son got married at Aldridge Gardens.

The house is beautiful and the location is great. Very comfortable beds and very clean inside. Nicely decorated. I like the old feel of it however just a few things to keep in mind. Some doors don't close properly, upstairs sink run slowly. There are no curtains on some windows downstairs and the yard was not kept. Bonus room on the 3rd level is beautiful! Overall I really like the place and would recommend. One more thing, keypad was difficult to operate however it could have been my problem.

I would not rent this home in the future. When we walked up to the front door I noticed a large cob web on the mail box next to the front door. That gave me a clue that the cleaning person did not care much. When I opened the door It smelled very old and musty. The smell made it feel dirty. I could not sleep very well because of the smell. The floors were not swept very well. All the bedrooms are upstairs. The floor and doors creak very loudly and wake others up when someone gets up in the middle of the night. Tried to open windows to air out the place. Only a few windows open. Many had cob webs and one had a dead bug. The back porch is unusable. The boards are rotten and soft and should be replaced. The patio furniture and outdoor rug is disgusting and should be replaced. When you use your hair dryer the lights flicker. The room on the third floor doesn’t smell as bad as the rest of the house. But it doesn’t have air conditioning so gets hot during the day. It has a very loud squeaky fan. The nicer bathroom and shower is downstairs. The upstairs bathroom has a very slow draining sink and the bathtub shower combo was not appealing. There were no dressers in the bedrooms. The basement was creepy. Did not want to go down there to do laundry. The home did have lots of room and the TV worked. Refrigerator is new. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels and toiletries. I learned my lesson. Not renting an old historic home in the future. I usually don’t leave bad reviews but I had to be honest. All the good reviews swayed me to rent this home but I did not have a good experience.

The historic house was a wonderful substitute for the typical "cookie-cutter" places to stay in cities. Large rooms and enclosed backyard provided ample space and privacy in a downtown setting. The host reached out during the stay with pertinent information. Thank you for sharing this historic house with us!

Ryan was friendly and accommodating. The house is centrally located and close to bars, restaurants, golf…and Talladega. Great weekend!

When I saw the pics of this place online I thought it was beautiful. A little overpriced, but beautiful. The whole house was full of dust. There was hair from previous tenants all over the upstairs bathroom floor. The faucet was loose, and there were many other little things that had just not been tended to in a while. When I mentioned to the owner that we would not be able to use the dirty tub, he responded that the dirt in the tub was “vintage”. The windows were covered with cobwebs. There was hair and pills under the bed. Many of the outlets did not work, and while I did not expect an old house like this to have USB ports, it would have been nice if the owner had installed multi outlets instead of the one lonely extension cord that was available in a bedroom upstairs. The floor in the kitchen clearly had not been mopped. There were smudges of old food on and in the cabinets in the kitchen. The house simply was not clean. The owner did send a cleaning lady out to the house, but she only cleaned the upstairs bathroom the third day of our 4 day stay. And she had an attitude, and rudely asked us to evacuate the whole house while she only lightly cleaned the upstairs bathroom. The owner refused to even partially refund the cleaning fee. I was extremely disappointed given the amount of money I paid for this house. The owner’s responses to all my complaints were generic, pre-written responses that did not fully address my concerns. A warning to all of you who are seduced by the online pics. This home has not been cleaned in some time, and not worth the high price you will pay.

We had 5 friends from college come stay and had a great time! We could definitely have had a much bigger group. We loved sitting around the 3rd floor and talking and the property was exactly like its description.

My entire family stayed there for a family wedding in Birmingham. We enjoyed being right in the downtown area of Avondale. Just a quick drive (some places are walkable) to breweries, farmers market, ice cream and coffee! House is beautiful and owner was very accommodating! I would definitely recommend this home to others!

My family and I attended a wedding in Birmingham. The property was wonderful. The house is in an awesome location, we walked every chance we had. We walked to local restaurants, like Rojo, fantastic food and drinks. Plus, the house was located in close proximity to so many great breweries and restaurants. It was easy to hail an Uber. The house was a great gathering place for my family and I to just chill, very spacious sitting area. The property has very unique architecture. I would highly recommend this property when staying in Birmingham. If my family and I are back in Birmingham, we would stay at this property again.

We literally needed a home away from home, and we found it.
This was the perfect house to have old friends stop by and visit during our stay. The house not only has character, it has a welcoming soul. The downstairs rooms have a wonderful flow from room to room, and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking and serving meals The third floor loft is our favorite space to relax, read, and reminisce. The bedrooms are spacious and beds are very comfortable.
The host is super attentive and accessible! Thank you, kind sir!

What an amazing house/property!! I stayed here with my bridesmaids for my wedding and it was incredible. The place itself is beautiful and we had the best photos when getting ready. There was even a gorgeous walk in closet that I was able to hand my wedding dress in and get some great pictures. I couldn’t have asked for a better house for my wedding weekend and I’m so glad we booked it! I would 100% book again. 10/10 stay!!

Historic home in great area
Beautiful historic home in the heart of Highlands. We enjoyed front porch coffee, neighborhood running, and evening walks learning about the history of the neighborhood.
Property owner was very accommodating and responsive. The neighbors were all welcoming.
This was a great location and convenient to local attractions like Vulcan, Sloss, Railroad Park, 5 Points, and City Skatepark.
Home was clean, spacious, and easily accommodated our family stay. The second floor did sleep warmer so some of our guests went up to the loft area to sleep for cooler temps.

We came back for another week at this charming historic property in the beautiful neighborhood of Forest Park.
The house is warm and inviting with all the rich oak wood doors, columns and floor

Charming older home in nice neighborhood.
Loved staying here, if we end up needing to come back this way, we will for sure stay again. Only suggestion is to add a shower hook or something to the upstairs tub so it can function as a shower.

Nice homebase for Birmingham visit
My family took a quick Mardi Gras week getaway to explore Birmingham. This property is beautiful, it is a historic house, true to the pictures.
communication with owner was great, check in was easy
There are a lot of hills around so walking to coffee shop, restaurants was fine for me and the kids but tough on my mom so we did drive most places.

This home is top notch when visiting the Birmingham area. Plenty of space in all the bedrooms, open concept, more than ample bedrooms for a family! To boot, the neighbors are super friendly and enjoy speaking with you. Fenwick, the neighborhood cat, was a great bonus! Parking is to the rear and front of the residence. Great space in a grand location! Ryan the host is a great communicator and very responsive.

Nice Place
Nice place, well located in a nice little street. Good character inside, but modern too which is a good blend. We enjoyed it.
Nice little yard/terrace at rear, but we didn’t use it as we were just on a short break. We parked at the front of the house, which was fine, but there may (or may not) also be parking at the rear. It looks like it, but again we were there briefly.
WiFi works well, tv works well, kitchen appliances were clean and working well. Not much more I can add.

Fantastic 1908 home in beautiful historic district!
Wonderfully quiet home with a short walk to the best restaurants and pubs in town. Nice friendly neighbors with equally friendly felines.
Well maintained and fully supplied to allow effortless entertaining eight people for dinner in the elegant dining room, after drinks on the back terrace.
Comfortable beds and linens and plenty of fluffy towels.
When we arrived, there was not a floor lamp in the living room and the owner shipped one to us the next day.
We couldn’t more enthusiastically endorse this rental and the responsive and helpful owner!

This weekend was the trip of a lifetime. We were five minutes from Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark and it made our weekend so special. Thank you for hosting our family. Our toddler was able to explore all three levels of the house with the 2 adults that stayed back while we attended the music fest. They were able to walk to morning coffee and enjoy the park down the street. We had a bite to eat in the evening at RoJo. The historic homes made for some beautiful sights during our morning and evening strolls. We had everything we needed for breakfast and dinner prep. We had plenty of space to enjoy each other and keep to ourselves during some quiet time. The neighbors were kind and the house cat welcomed us and sent us on our way. The backyard gave our toddler some room to roam and soak up the sun. The smart televisions gave us the opportunity to unwind with some YouTube videos. Clean, bright, and comfortable. Thank you!

Great trip to BHam
I stayed at the property with 3 buddies for a golf trip coupled with seeing a football game at Alabama. Location was great, one night they had a neighborhood concert just a couple blocks away. It’s central to everything. The house itself is historic and well appointed. The 4 bedrooms are spacious. The living space downstairs is really nice and comfortable. Everything was better than advertised.
