Stayed with our adult and teenage child for one night prior to departing Reykjavik. The location is excellent and my comments below are to provide additional information in most cases. I was glad I read some of the reviews to see that it was on the 4th floor, otherwise I wouldn’t have known. Parking was confusing for someone not particularly familiar with parking in this city. Maybe a recommendation and directions would be helpful? The apartment was renovated and really cute, but I don’t know that I’d recommend it for more than 1-2 nights, especially with more than 2 people. The grocery store is close. We did not use the kitchen so I can’t speak to that. The bathroom was small, as advertised. But, when we were there, it had a sulphur/sewage smell (we needed to keep the door closed). The shower curtain only had about half of the rings and was short, so water went everywhere. No soap, just shampoo and conditioner. We did teach out to property management as the door was open when we arrived and the code didn’t work. They got back to us in about an hour.

I have never left a negative review over the many years and properties we have stayed at. Unfortunately, we had a problem in the bathroom at this apartment and the management company was dismissive and brushed it off as “the way the water smells in Iceland.” We were very excited upon arrival at this property. The location is superb and the place was well decorated, spacious and seemed clean. My daughter opened the bathroom door and we all gagged at the smell that poured out. I immediately called the company to notify them and was told that when a place sits empty for a while the hot water needs to be run for 10 minutes. We ran it for 30 and that made it worse as the steam seeped into the whole apartment causing it all to smell (no ventilation in the bathroom.) I was in communication with the company for the whole next day trying to find a solution. We continued to be told that was the normal smell for the water. We have stayed in several rentals in Iceland and are aware of the sulfur smell of the water. This was not that! This smelled like sewage overflow or a dead animal. As much as we explained this to the company, they maintained that we were wrong and it was normal water smell. Beware of having a stinky time if you stay here.

We liked staying in your updated flat. The beds were very comfortable. Cooking was a challenge with the smoke detectors going off when simply cooking pasta. Installing a vent fan may help. We appreciated water kettle and convenience of the small kitchen but it would have been nice to have another pan perhaps a frying pan.It was very loud at night and seemed to lack insulation. Another issue was the amount of stairs. Back door entry was poorly presentable when entering the flat.

The place was clean and nicely done. Yet, it was very drafty and thus cold. Also the knives were dull and hard to use. There were no sauce pans or oven ware or spices besides salt. If you plan to use it for sleep that will work, but if you are going to make meals and rest when it is cold and windy, this is not the place for you.

The unit was very nice but there are issues they need to address that would make this a 5-star. The issues are straightforward to fix in my opinion and cost little to no money.
First, I want to say that finding the entrance was a bit difficult. Better instruction should be given for the 4th-floor units. Also, 1st impressions are everything, the entrance is the trash area for the building and the ice cream shop. There was garbage littered everywhere when we got there and left. The owners should ask the cleaners to keep that area swept also. That would go a long way. The exterior parts were a bit dirty and needed work. Also, the kid's highchair and random items sitting right outside the apartment made it look cluttered.
2nd, there is no washer and dryer. That is falsely advertised. The washer and dryer are communal and, in the basement, 5 floors down. I didn't use it, so I can't comment other than I was a bit annoyed that we didn't have one easily available because I like to have fresh towels.
3rd, if you have mobility issues, this is not the place for you. It's 4 floors up and there is no elevator.
4th, they need a longer shower curtain. The shower curtain is short like 6 inches, so water got everywhere. No matter how hard I tried, water got all over the floor. The owner should get a glass enclosure or a longer curtain.
Overall the unit was clean, and they gave you shampoo and conditioner. The sheets were clean as well as towels.

It's very cozy in there which we liked.
Good location. Kind communication.
We had a few issues during our stay
- door code didn't work on arrival
- bad toilet smell on second day
- no chopping board, good knife
- original internet didn't work (but they had a back up)
- you had to fill out a form after booking which was a bit of a cuffufle.
- The location of the storage room was unclear so we put it downstairs which then wasn't the right place and we needed a code to get back in.
They had a lot of systems in place, but it seemed to not really flow. But they were quick to communicate and kind.

Apartment location was amazing. Walking up to the 4th floor was a blessing and a curse. Needed the workout after amazing dinners out. Bathroom was extremely cramped and only real downside.

The management team at Iðunn was communicative and easy to work with and helped immediately when there was a slight check in issue. The flat is in a perfect location in the heart of Reykjavik (walking distance to most everything). The place was lovely inside and met all our needs. A couple things to be aware of = The entrance seems sketchy, but ignore the trash / graffiti - its great inside. There are 4 flights of stairs, no elevator. This was no problem for us, but be aware. Yes, the water does smell and taste of sulfer. This is normal for Iceland. :-). And finally, the crowds are a bit boisterous on the weekends. If you are a light sleeper and in bed by 8 PM kind of person... We loved out stay. I highly recommend this team and flat.

Rental unit was good. Our unit had access from the back and behind a restaurant.
We enjoyed our stay and we mostly were gone throughout the day.

The apartment offers great views, charming atmosphere and comfortable furnishings. As a warning to anyone with mobility issues, it is a four story walk-up.
My one complaint was the check-in process and descriptions of parking options. When we arrived, we did receive a door code and very general description. However, no one told us that our unit had a separate entrance on the backside of the building. There is a sign, but it's far from immediately noticeable, especially when one is tired from travel and jet-lagged. The whole process could have been spelled out in an email or message, well before our arrival. As it stood, all we had was the address and door code, no step by step help to get us in quickly and easily.
The managers should think about the average stressed and tired traveler, arriving with no clue about the property e.g.; "upon arrival, go around the corner of the property, past the Turkish restaurant, and turn into the parking space, next to the ice cream shop. There you'll find the door for your specific unit and enter the code listed below."
Also, parking instructions were very vague. I was left with questions like: "Can I park here all day and pay once, or do I have to refill a meter, several times a day? What are these three parking zones; what do they mean? Is there a place we can just park and forget our car, until we are ready to leave the city?"

My family enjoyed a wonderful stay at this property. Everything was seamless- checkin process super easy, property is beautiful and clean, and location couldn’t be better. Owners very communicative if any questions come up. We look forward to staying here again!!

Amazing location right downtown Reykjavík! Beds were comfy and the style of the place was cute. Seriously loved being in the heart of everything. The noise was never bad but we ran a sound machine. Warning though there are a lot of
stairs (no elevators) but didn’t bother our group. I would give our stay a 4.5 and the only reason not a 5 is because of the bathroom. Poor drainage and circulation/venting!! Always seemed wet/not as clean because of it no matter what we did. Other than that our experience was great!!

Great location. Unit is on very top floor with many flights of stairs. Consider this if you have anyone elderly in your group. Very simple place, one pot, one pan, 4 forks and two knives. No sharp knives. Code on door did not work when we arrived, had to email manager and wait in restaurant down stairs for response. Restaurant owner let us in the complex via the back door. This is not pleasant after traveling over seas with two small children and arriving early in the morning just to wait till 4:00 to finally check in and could not access the unit. The beds were very comfortable. Again, the location was great in the heart of down down Reykjavík.

The property is in a great location but the common stairway to get up to the top floor is dirty and not well cared for. Inside the unit you’ll find a nice living room but I would not call this a 2 bedroom. Beds are wedged into 2 small rooms, just enough room to lay down. The bathroom leaves much to be desired. As a frequent traveler, I am disappointed. Under the sink, where plastic bags were to be kept, a previous quest used it as a trash can and threw cigarettes and trash there and it was not cleaned up.

Easy to walk around from here. Very cute. Would stay again. Our code didn’t work to get in and called the emergency number and they immediately fixed the problem after hours. Very responsive.

Great location, easy street parking. Equipped kitchen but needed plates and forks which were delivered quickly.

This apartment is great. It is small as the photos depict, but the beds are very comfortable and the view is wonderful. It suited my family of 4 just fine. My complaints would be that the keypads never worked properly for us and it took a while to reach the property management. Also, the entrance and hallway were always full of litter and the trash was overflowing. There are only 3 or 4 plates, which was a bit annoying.
Overall, a very good experience.

Loved this apartment, just wish getting there the first day could’ve been more clear- one email said bus stop 7 and one said 8, another said 14! Definitely recommend bus stop 8 so it’s a quick downhill walk with your suitcases. Loved the location once we were there and the apartment is great. The team was also very quick to respond and help!

This location is right in downtown, a stone's throw from the church. It is perfectly located to walk just about everywhere in town. The unit was perfect for our family of six. Parking was excellent along with check in. Rented a car and did day long trips. Unbelievable country. We loved the minimalistic vibe.
Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Reykjavik.

My husband and I really enjoyed this apartment. The location is great, close to everything, including a pharmacy and a grocery store. Very comfortable couch, and the bed has a great mattress! The apartment can get quite warm, but it’s easy to control the temperature. It was just an all around enjoyable and cozy apartment to go back to after spending all day outside braving the cold and wind!
My only suggestion would be to add a coffee press to the kitchen line up. There is a coffee maker already, but it needs coffee pouches and it’s not the most straightforward to use. Coffee presses are easier. It’s just a suggestion though, we were able to use the coffee maker just fine!

Property was well-located and allowed access to all of Reykjavik. Parking was simple and accessible despite lack of dedicated spot on property. The space was cozy, comfortable and very clean. I will add that the laundry unit in the basement was quite messy and did not look to be maintained. Overall, a lovely stay in the heart of Reykjavik and we would gladly return and recommend to others.

Unfortunately, the building in which our lodging was located was a mess. A pile of debris was outside the main entrance and the pavement was cracked. The steps leading upstairs to our room were dirty and unswept. The room itself was ok but a picture of the bedroom did not appear on line as it basically was a cubby hole with a bed in it. There was NO wiggle room. The shower curtain was moldy and too long so it dragged in the water and the resulting smell was unpleasant. The location was the property’s saving grace. The coffee pot was subpar and the TV, erratic. From personal experience, I think lodgings that are privately owned show more care than those managed by a company as this property was.

The apartment was really nice. Kink of a loft vibe. It’s located on a busy walking street with all that entails. If you can’t sleep through street noise probably not a good choice for you. We thought we would cook more but with all the cool restaurants literally steps away we only made breakfast a few times. Parking was easier that we thought. Spots available and it’s free at night. Download the app to pay for day parking made that a lot easier. The location is so central a car is only useful for out of city trips.
We did have an issue with the WiFi at first but an email to the people and it was fixed!
If we went to Iceland again I would definitely get this place.
