The cottage was awesome; the beach was awesome; the equipment (kayaks, life jackets, floats) was perfect; communication with host was easy, she was super responsive. Loved it so much I booked again for the fall!

A house 6 feet from the water, does it get better? Plus a screened in porch, you can sit and listen to the sounds of the Chesapeake bug free. I hope this beach stays as it is for a long, long time

My twin sister and I rented Missy’s property for two weeks, with the middle weekend being our 80th birthday. When we first arrived at the well-hidden cottage, we though we were in paradise found! The adorable house is literally right on Hays Beach. There is no grass … just sand between your toes. The cottage itself is full of charm. The screened-in porch is a fabulous place to gaze out at the unobstructed expansive view of the bay. When you’re inside, you feel as if you’re on a houseboat, because you can’t see the beach … only water. Missy makes you feel as though she is welcoming family into her home. I can’t remember a home owner ever being so accessible, friendly and responsive to a renter. My sister and I had an absolutely magical birthday, made more so by my husband and Carol’s and my six adult “kids” flying in from literally all over the country: from California, Seattle, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts … to help us celebrate our big day. (We rented the house next-door to house all the extra people.) I have nothing but superlatives to say about Missy and her Bay Side Retreat. If you need to get away from it all and relax, breathe, and thoroughly enjoy a waterfront sabbatical, look no further. This is it!

Took my 82-year old mother to this lovely cottage . . . directly on the beach of the Chesapeake. The cottage was perfectly appointed - quaint and cozy and very peachy! You couldn't ask for a more private and relaxing beach area. Rare to be able to watch the sunrise right from the porch and walk straight out onto the beach without dragging coolers and things for blocks!
The owner/manager was so kind and accommodating. We had a wonderful time there and can't wait to rebook for next year! You won't find anything like this for this price on any beach in Maryland. It was truly delightful!!!

Our family had the most amazing time at the cottage. We used the deck, screened in porch and only went inside to eat and go to bed. The cottage was very nice and was stocked, if you forgot something. We spent our days swimming, walking the beach, fishing and sitting on the porch listing to the sounds of the bay.

This is a perfect little beach house with great access to the beach and beautiful panoramic views of the Bay. I don't think you could find a home any closer to the water than this, which was great with young children and elderly. Missy is a fantastic host as well and has been very thoughtful of her guests to make sure that their stay is comfortable. I highly recommend this rental to anyone who is looking for a quiet magical escape from their everyday:)

We absolutely love Hays beach! This was our first stay at this cottage, but our 3rd year at Hays beach. Its a gorgeous beach, with lots to offer the family. We personally enjoy spending time crabbing in the creek where the crabs are abundant and easy to catch. When we aren't crabbing, the kids love searching the beach for sea glass, and floating/swimming in the bay.
We loved the screened in porch/ outside porch to sit on and watch the kids while they spent the entire day playing on the beach. There's nothing like staying beachfront, and hearing the sound of the bay. The house is well supplied and had mostly what we needed, however I some how missed in the listing that the house lacked a dish washer, which for a family of 6, can be a pain.
We were a bit disappointed when we got our check in instructions and discovered that while bedding was provided, we would have to make the beds upon arrival. And even more disappointed that there is no trash service provided, so we had to make a few trips to the transfer station so that critters didn't get into the trash.
We had an amazing time, and look forward to returning to Hays beach next year.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage! Very relaxing which is exactly what our family needed! Thanks Missy! We will be back!

Our family had a wonderful stay at the cottage! Everything was provided for our stay including linens, bath/beach towels, paper towels, toilet paper, and kitchen spices. There was even shampoo/conditioner and body lotion if it was forgotten. All we needed to bring was our clothes! We enjoyed sitting on the deck, kayaking, walking the beach looking for sea glass (lucky us we found some the last night) and watching the turtles that made an appearance the last night. The enclosed porch is wonderful in the evenings once the sun goes down.
Thank you Missy for your hospitality and sharing your little piece of paradise with us! It was such a relaxing stay and our family is looking forward to visiting again!

I have been imaging this place for who knows how long. I was sure that is had to be way beyond my reach……I told my husband when going down the dirt, “if this is what I expect it to be, I’m going to cry”. Well, I didn’t cry, but was in total awe of the tranquility. (That’s what I was looking for) Perfect,Perfect,Perfect is all I can say.
My family plans to return next year and Missy is so awesome.

We were able to book this gem last minute for a much needed time away after a difficult year. Missy's beach cottage is perfection. We wanted/needed a place to unwind and to relax and rest, this was it! The cottage is just as described and so comfortable. We took endless walks in both direction and we crabbed for our dinner. We have never found seaglass but were able to fill a small bottle in just a few hours! All colors. Missy was so easy to communicate with and answered promptly. If you are looking or an quiet relaxing spot, this is it!

The house was perfect for our weekend getaway. The beach views were amazing and we enjoyed only being literal steps to the beach.

We had a wonderful stay at Missy’s cottage on the bay. Although it was only for two nights it gave us enough time to learn about the area, go for walks along the beach, catch a gorgeous morning sunrise, discover a couple nice restaurants and throughly enjoy the quiet remote area along Holly Drive (where there are many holly trees). The cottage’s location was perfect and Missy was a great host. Her website with information about the cottage and surrounding area is worthy of a 10+ star rating. The best one I’ve seen.

Absolutely amazing stay! Everything was perfect! We travel to Scotland every year and the location of our his property and ease of access to the beach was perfect for my elderly parents! We had a great time kayaking, swimming & combing the beach for treasures! The property owner, Missy was great & kept in contact with us if we needed anything!

This place is absolutely magical. The cottage itself had everything we needed for our week long stay. A suitcase of clothes and some groceries were all we needed to bring with us. The sunrises were the most beautiful and the ocean was 15 feet away from the door. Missy was super responsive to all my messages and questions and I would absolutely come back to this cottage. We walked the beach, found sea glass, went crabbing, kayaked, caught the sunrises, swam, and found the most peaceful moments were just taking in the beautiful view while listening to the waves crash at our feet. Absolutely perfect.

I don't think I have ever been in a property that close to the edge of the water. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore was the perfect sleep lullaby.

Hidden paradise
Missys place was a true gateway into paradise. I don’t think we have ever enjoyed the beach as much as we did here. The host provides everything you need, and more for a beach vacation. Kayaks, floats, fishing poles, chairs and even crab nets and crab pot. The beach was perfect for adults and kids. The host has included every little detail needed for the guests. Thank you for letting us enjoy a little piece of paradise

Dream Cottage
My husband and I stayed for 5 days with our 6, 4 and 2 year old and enjoyed nearly everything about this cottage. The remote location was just what we were looking for. There are a couple of neighbors (also renters), but everyone was friendly and quiet. The wildlife was abundant. The bay was spectacular. My husband and son spent countless hours crabbing. We kayaked. We found sea glass and countless great pebbles on the beach. Missy even connected us with a photographer who came out and took family photos for us. The ONLY thing that was a bummer were the jellyfish...which Missy obviously had no control over. Next time we'll visit when they aren't quite as abundant. When you are ready to sell the cottage, we're ready to buy it, Missy!!

The house was everything as advertised and even more. The family loved it and had a great time. The view of the sunrise was breathtaking. We all enjoyed kayaking. Thank you Missy.

Fantastic Getaway!
This property is hands down the perfect getaway! The water is literally steps away from the house, so if you are a beach bum like me, you will be in heaven! We enjoyed the kayaks, crabbing in the nearby crabbed, searching for sea glass, floating in the calm water, surf fishing, and even found quite a few things to do in the area. The only downfall with that part was the distance to and from, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The Lighthouse restaurant in Solomons is to dieeee for! Be sure to include that in your plans while you're here! The ONLY complaint our family had was the beds could be a bit more comfortable, but it was not unbearable! Overall an incredible beach get away to make my moms surprise 50th birthday an absolute blast! Would highly recommend!

This was a wonderful place to just drop out and enjoy nature. Lots of wildlife including crabs and a bald eagle spotting. Right on the water where you can find sea glass and unique rocks. Private area and you can hear the waves from inside and outside. Place had everything you need and was well stocked.
