Hotel was in a great location with a welcoming and helpful team!
Room was very comfortable and the house itself lovely had a very homely feel with all the various social/entertainment areas, feeling comfortable being able to spend time in them. Particularly liked the 3/4 snooker table that was fun!
The decor and information around was fascinating and added to the history
Breakfast was also very good!
The only improvement I would suggest is the shower in our room had very little pressure and kept changing temperature, there was also no shower gel just a bar of soap which wasn't new

what a wonderful guest house and lovely staff.
great location, excellent breakfast!
3.5
Nice position on the sea front. South of the main town centre, so very peaceful.
The Guest House has a military theme, which gave it a lot of character.
The breakfasts were plentiful and the staff friendly and accommodating.
I liked the "themed" lounges. There is plenty - and I mean plenty - of lounge space in the property if you want to get out of your room, particularly if you want to mix with other guests.
The property also boasts a pool table in it's own room. Very nice.
There is also an "honesty bar" which always shows a host who trusts and cares for his guests. I didn't use it, but it was nice to know it was there. One night I was craving a packet of crisps. Alas, none available at the bar. I think the availability of bar snacks would be a great idea and may actually stimulate a few more drinks being purchased. Just my thoughts.
The photos are from my room (No.9). Who could want for a better view!! That morning sunrise was to die for š.
The lighting in the room was very poor. There were two bedside lamps. The bulb in one didn't work, the bulb in the other was nearly gone and kept flickering. They provided no light. The main room light was of such low wattage that it made the room look very dingy at night, which was a shame as the room was very nice. I solved both these issues by buying new energy saving bulbs for the lamp nearest to my bed and the overhead room light. Proper lighting transformed the room at night from dingy to cosy. The replacement bulbs cost Ā£2.73. It was my gift to the property.
The beds were far too soft for me. Sadly, I think it was a case of buying cheaper quality beds that were poorly sprung. For a few days these mattresses would be fine, but a longer stay and you'd have backache.
The breakfasts were nicely cooked, but I wasn't a fan of tinned tomatoes instead of fresh tomatoes. I think it would be a welcome alteration.

A friendly and efficient service. Great breakfast ordered in advance to save waste...good idea. Fantastic value for money.
The en suite door didn't shut properly. Not an issue for us as family...but could do with attention for others sharing a room.

Hotel works as a charity for ex servicemen and has a fascinating military themed decor. The owner/manager was very welcoming and happy to explain the hotel's work. Breakfast was good and the hotel operates a small trust bar with excellent prices, which is rare to see these days. We would be very happy to stay there again.
They forgot the hashbrown on my daughters breakfast, so she pinched mine! Everything else was excellent.

Stunning sea view, free pool table, excellent friendly hosts (bonus points for the dog) and a delicious breakfast
Twin beds, despite requesting a double. May have assumed we were friends though, as we are 2 guys. Didnāt impact how welcome we weee made to feel, so didnāt warrant mentioning. All staff couldnāt have been more welcoming and friendly; despite being busy with a Burns night supper

So interesting as it was a hotel that hosted veterans of all services and anyone else of course.
The hotel was a wonderful tribute to all who served our country.
The staff were wonderful and went the extra mile to make the trip extra special.

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, our room was perfect, and breakfast was lovely. We really enjoyed our stay in your wonderful guest house. Also the location was perfect, we had a great time, close to the beach, the restaurants and town.

Simple room with everything what we needed for one night. Beautiful decorations in shared areas. Very helpful and positive stuff and other guests. English breakfast included in the price was tasty. Thank you :)
WI-FI hard to connect.

Location great, just opposite sandy beach, and with free on street parking. We always managed to find a parking spot on the same or adjacent block to the hotel, though not sure whether this would still be applicable in high season. Also loved the quirky 'museum' nature of the public areas. Have to confess I tried on a few of the hats. Loved the 'RAF' lounge with its snooker table. Breakfast was also very good.
The room, particularly the en-suite bathroom, was a little tired and could do with tap and shower head replacement. Also the large main bathroom window looked into the backs of houses behind, but had only a net curtain fitted. This meant you could not take a bath / shower after dark as putting the lights on would make you highly visible!

A magnificent old building facing the sea is packed with military memorabilia from all three armed services and other service arms. The room was well set out, cosy and comfortable. Nice shower room/toilet. Breakfast was accessible even though we left before the main service began, and everything was explained on our arrival. I would thoroughly recommend this great little place, especially if you are ex services.
