Days Island, easily reachable, is a quiet community close to Tacoma. The house is inviting from the street, and has convenient parking, several outdoor places to hang out in decent weather, and the view from indoors or out is breathtaking. We two couples (sisters and husbands) had great fun sipping adult beverages and watching boats, barges, birds slide by, seals pop their heads up and cormorants dive.
The large backyard leads to the water, and is a fine spot for outdoor games or watching sunsets.
There is a well-equipped kitchen, a gas barbeque grill, scads of games and lots of ideas for local activities.
The beds are quite comfortable and there's a ton of bedding and towels and such provided.
The biggest attraction is the knock-your-eyes out view.
The other big attraction is your host, Jane. She is readily accessible by text, helpful, friendly.
The house is old and quirky, with some hard miles on it. So if you are after a 5-star hotel, this ain't it.
The bedrooms are on the third floor, one up from the street level: a king room with the best view, a queen room, a dinky single and a shared bath.
At entry level are the kitchen, an adjacent bathroom/laundry (which, amusingly, also holds the dishwasher), a large dining room, breakfast room, large living room and an office. On the lowest floor is a huge family-type room with queen bed and bath.
Shopping, restaurants and attractions are close at hand.
Recommended.

We loved this place! The views from the home were stunning. Our kids loved the backyard and going out the water when the tide was out. The location was great, and it made for the perfect family get-away with my in laws, brother, and two kids. This is a really special spot with the most amazing owners who we were fortunate enough to meet! Thanks for such a wonderful stay.

We loved our stay. House was clean and beds were comfortable. Every room offered a vista of the Puget Sound. Sunsets were spectacular and we found ourselves drawn to the back lawn. If we’re ever back in the neighborhood, we’d surely pick this home.

Very cool older property in a quiet neighborhood with a gorgeous location on the water. Our family of 5 used this house as a base for exploring Seattle for a few days and found it clean and comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing by the water and watching the seals swim by while watching the sun set over the Olympics. Host reached out before our arrival via text to let us know she would be available should we need anything. You could tell that this house has been a family home for years, which gave us a much better vibe than just a rental property. Highly recommend

This is the best short-term rental house I've ever stayed in. The experience from beginning to end was easy and seamless; the owner is lovely. The house is perfectly appointed with great linens and plenty of kitchen supplies.
It is comfortable and homey and there is no beating the view. Overall, it was lovely and we hope to return soon.

We had an amazing stay in this beautiful home. The setting right on the water was unbeatable while the remoteness on Days Island felt like a true escape despite being very convenient to Seattle/Tacoma. The house had everything we needed with plenty of space - I can't wait to book another stay here.

Incredibly beautiful house and setting right on the sound. Playing bags on the back lawn with the sun setting over the water was a moment I’ll never forget. The house is over 100 years old so it has a quirk or two, but it more than makes up for it with all of its charm and comfort—the beds were all incredibly comfortable. Jane is a great host as well. I look forward to staying here again!

Great place for family to get away & enjoy some R&R on Day Island. The owner is super helpful & responsive. Nice setup for a larger family with the basement. Enjoy the marine life & sunsets! Boathouse 19 on Marina is right down the road for fun meal/drinks on water.

This property was perfect for my wife's family to come over & hang out with everyone. We were very fortunate with the extraordinary weather of 70's & 🌞 all week. The marine life is abundant & sunsets are so peaceful on the Sound. Nice amenities to the house & the property owner Jane has open lines of communication. She grew up there with her family. Great house for family get together's on Day Island.

Great house, lots of character. The sunset over Fox Island was amazing. Lots of room inside and out. We loved it. Will definitely stay again.
5.0 / 5.0
This old house has a lot of character, and is decorated with charm and comfort in mind. Everything you need is available, and if you can't find it then the owner is within easy reach to help you. Beds are comfortable with ample pillows and coverlets. There is ample supply of plush towels and hot water for showers. We did have some trouble moderating the temperature in the upstairs, and the front bedroom experiences direct train noise several times in the early morning. Blackout shades in that bedroom would be a welcome addition as the sun rises on that side of the house.
We didn't want to leave the expansive view of the water from the main bedroom, and from the 'observation lounge' where we took our morning coffee; binoculars provided for checking out the harbor seals and porpoises. Furnishings are definitely "Period-pieces", which added to the character of the house, and the flooring does squeak as old houses do. If you have mobility issues, the stairs can be a challenge. Note also that the home has safety grab bars in the bathrooms. TV is large-screen flat panel, and we had no issues using the WiFi.

Watching the Water
Puget Sound is in the backyard of this property on a charming car -accessible island. We enjoyed just watching the tidal flows and spotting small fish and dolphins (or were they porpoises?) from one of four very pleasant outdoor seating areas or the glass walled living room. The house has character and charm, albeit some quirks including having only one bathroom on the floor with 3 bedrooms and some rooms with windows that do not open. The owner was communicative.

The view from the living room and upstairs bedroom were great! So much more than we expected.
Kitchen was well stocked with spices , condiments and everything extra we wanted.

Anniversary Trip
We had a wonderful family time at your place! Views were gorgeous, accommodations were just right for our family and kitchen was well stocked as we shared cooking duties between our kids. So much easier to eat at “home”! Thank you!

Old-School PNW Beachhouse
Wow, what a great place to experience the Puget Sound, in an older house perched right on the edge of the water. The house may be older, but it's got everything you'd need and the age makes you feel like you've stepped back in time to a simpler life. Or maybe that's just the feeling of relaxation you get sitting down by the seawall, watching the seals and Caspian Terns and the tidal currents flowing by. This is a really great place to stay and would easily fit 7 people (though we sure enjoyed it just with 2).

Outstanding!
We had a fabulous stay! Jane could not have been more accommodating. With a family of 6 we had plenty of towels, bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Waking up to the view of the Puget Sound was fabulous. First day we saw a whale from the shore while having drinks in the backyard.

Breathtaking location, Well loved home!
The location can't be beat, the view is one of the best you'll find worldwide (sunset included), and totally user friendly all ways around. The waterfront backyard with it's mature trees and flowerbeds is amazing and the outdoor fire pit was a wonderful amenity with plenty of seating available. We loved the quirkiness of the house, it has true character and loads of charm. If you're a fan of unique one of kind places then you'll love this home, creaky floorboards and all. Note: If you have a full house be sure to stager your showers/baths to ensure hot water. Also, if beds are important to you, don't count on putting a full size adult in the twin bed as it is woefully inadequate to accommodate anyone older than a very small child. The property owner/manager is very accessible and most accommodating offering wonderful hospitality. Would love to visit here again sometime as we had a memorable time.

Great location and views.
Great location and views. Unfortunately for us they had not replaced the windows yet, so we had a cloudy view through the windows. The bedrooms are nicely decorated. I’m sure they will update the living room/sunroom furniture in time. There was a nice supply of kitchen ware and condiments. We really enjoyed the fireplace as well.
Over all it was a wonderful place. I would stay here again. Thank you to our wonderful host Jane.
