About this house rental
Tucked away at the edge of the historic district, our Retro Ranch was built in 1961. We fell in love the moment we saw it and immediately began turning it into the shining star it was meant to be.
Our goal in renovations was to keep all the integrity and character that come with a traditional brick ranch, but to do it with fun, modern twists. When you arrive, you're greeted with a rocking chair-lined front porch and a spacious carport. Upon entering the home, you'll find the original stone entryway, (new) vintage wallpapers, original wavy windows, some plaster walls and shiny refinished heart pine floors. Oh, and the sunken living room with french doors opening into the huge fenced backyard!
From there, you'll start to notice the fine touches...The white quartz countertops and cutout 'diner style' window between the kitchen and the dining room, complete with barstools for a true breakfast counter experience. The black and white tiled laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer, the crystal light fixtures peppered throughout the house. And last but not least, our pride and joy: the master suite. Tucked away at the back of the house for ultimate privacy, this spacious bedroom is the ultimate slice of peace and quiet, complete with a large custom bathroom featuring dual vanities, tiled double shower, freestanding soaking tub and private toilet room.
It means so much to us to think of guests enjoying our little labor of love as much as we do and we trust that you’ll help us keep it in great shape for years to come. Please be sure to sign our guestbook before you leave.
Thank you so much for visiting!
*PLEASE NOTE OUR PET POLICY* We are happy to welcome up to 2 small pets (under 25 lbs) per reservation, provided they are house-trained and well-behaved, of course. The pet fee is $50/pet per week. You should be able to include pet(s) in reservation, but if not, please let us know and we can send you a separate invoice. Thanks so much!
*PROPERTY IS EQUIPPED WITH A RING SECURITY SYSTEM. For the safety of our property and our guests, the Retro Ranch is equipped with a Ring Security System. This includes two exterior cameras and an alarm system for the doors and windows.
*EXTENDED STAY CLEANING POLICY* We welcome longterm guests! For extended stays, we ask that our cleaning service clean the house every two weeks during your stay. We do our best to schedule this on a day and time most convenient for you. This is done at a reduced rate of $90/cleaning and is paid directly to the cleaners at the time of service. Guests are welcome to stay or go during the service.

The house was absolutely beautiful and the neighborhood was amazing.

It was great!

House was everything it was advertised to be - unique, spacious, clean, nice location - couldn’t really ask for more.
My only issue, and reading all the reviews seems to be a one off, was communication with owners. I know the owners were traveling in an area with limited internet access and several time zones away and the emergency contact (I found out after the fact) was ill. But in our case, bad weather came through(which is out of everyone’s control) and trees came down causing property damage and loss of electricity.
It took multiple attempts to get ahold of anyone.
Owner did agree to refunding money and we moved on with our trip.
I would come back to this property but I would want to make sure I can get ahold of someone when needed.

Just finished a 26 day stay at the beautiful Retro Ranch. It is our 2nd time staying there and our 3rd booking with John and Erin. We’ve always had a great stay with them. They shoot for 5-Stars and it’s not just talk. They earn them with all the perks you receive with booking their property. We reported to them that the 55 inch tv in the living room broke on Thursday morning and by 6:30 pm the same day we had a new 65 inch tv ready for March Madness. My Pekingese Elsie loves the fenced in back yard. We celebrated 2 birthdays and Easter while staying there and as an avid cook and baker the kitchen had everything I needed. I can go on and on but all the consistent five star reviews say it all. Just book it!!!

This home was perfect for us. Everything we needed was here and great detailed information. Visited for our Grandson’s ‘Recognition and Corps Day” at the Citadel in Charleston and spent most of our time there with a full slate of events. We enjoyed coming back to Summerville to relax. Enjoyed a few local restaurants, especially Oscars. We recommend the ‘Retro Ranch’

We love the neighborhood and space of the property to bring our family together for board games and supper during our week from out of state to visit our Summerville family

Great house in a great location. Quiet neighborhood but only 3-5 minutes to the heart of historic downtown Summerville and 15 mins to the best cluster of restaurants outside Downtown Charleston (Nexton - Halls Chophouse, Poogan's). The host has done a charming job of renovating a Mid-Century era brick home into a retro cool open-concept marvel. See how many French bulldog motifs you can spot! :)

We really enjoyed our stay in this cute retro ranch. We were relocating to Summerville and needed a place to stay between closings. This was the perfect solution. It was very roomy and nicely decorated. The proximity to the town of Summerville was an added bonus.

Comfortable home, nice sized, very good neighborhood that is well located for many activities. Came from Montana to spend Christmas with family in Summerville. It was a nice time.

We loved our stay. The house was terrific, impeccably clean,well-maintained, and tucked away in a small community in Summerville. The backyard is fenced-in, so my dogs enjoyed exploring the large yard. Our experience staying in the house was great! We hope to stay again on our next trip.

We were so grateful to locate a property that would accommodate us while we were selling our crafted doll clothing at Christmas made in the South. Thank you. Next year, if the property is available we will be back!

The overall property was just as pictured + very nice art work. Wonderful quiet neighborhood just minutes from old Summerville. We had minor troubles getting the tv apps to work, but the owners jumped right in to solve the issue quickly

If you read all the positive reviews about this home they are all accurate. We have stayed in several VRBO properties and this one is exceptional. We had no issues checking in and followed the rules that are in the House Manual. The purpose of our trip was to visit family and to see if this would be a place we might want to live one day. Staying here gave us a glimpse of what it would be like. It is calming and relaxing. The people in town are very friendly. We spent the majority of our time in Charleston. In the evenings, we would go to the park and take walks through town. We brought our dog and found that almost everywhere we visited was pet friendly. One night we had pizza at Benny Mazzetto's and it was excellent. There are a lot of outside dining options in town and nearby. We had a great time and we loved the house. We thank Erin for making our trip memorable. I am certain many others will have the same experience.

We enjoyed our recent stay at the "retro ranch." The property is spacious and clean and was perfect for our family of five. We will certainly try to book this property again the next time we're visiting family in Summerville.

The retro-ranch is a good sized home with a large yard in an older neighborhood full of beautiful trees. It is perfect for a quiet getaway or to visit the area of Summerville. The home is fully functional while at the same time being minimal. The amenities are basic and in need of a refresh, especially in the kitchen.
There are a number of House Rules and security alerts in place such that the owners are notified of any disturbance. Also, guests are not allowed to stream content from a personal computer. To watch the TV, be sure to have a Netflix or Hulu account (I have neither) otherwise it is commercial ridden Sling TV, assuming that even functions, which it didn't during my stay. The property manager - not a true property manager but a family friend - did not know how to fix it.
Despite these minor issues, I give 5 stars as my stay was pleasant and restful.

The porch and beautiful rocking chairs added to the charm of this home. It was too hot to sit outside, but I sent pictures to my friends and they expressed a desire to stay at a Vrbo of this caliber.

Great spot for a long weekend to visit family/graduation. The house is full of character. We loved all the little details, from the unique artwork throughout the house, to the fairy garden, even the solar system items. The carport was great. With a tropical storm spinning off the coast, we had plenty of rain so loading and unloading the van would have been really wet without the nice spot to park. The kitchen was well equipped and had a gas stove.
Plenty of space for 2 teens, 4 adults, and a spoiled rotten small dog.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. This home is located in a nice quiet neighborhood. The beds were comfortable and the home was reasonably well equipped. Cleanliness was definitely above average. Some may find the home a little dated, but was not a problem for us. The only MINOR negatives were that the toaster oven was filthy inside, and we could not find an ice cream scoop of any kind, or any pizza pans.
Bottom line - Would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.

Had a great time staying here while visiting family in the area. It was my sister and I along with our two youngest girls. Everything was clearly labeled and easy to use. Lots of space too! Would highly recommend staying here if your are visiting the Summerville/Charleston area! Thanks to Erin for great accommodations!

Second time we stayed at a home hosted by Erin. Definitely not disappointed during our 19 night stay. Great house for my husband and I. Our Pekingese, Elsie, loved the fenced in yard and chasing the squirrels not too mention a few deer as well!! The house has everything you would need…lots of space, plenty of amenities and great location. We will definitely be back!!

Our stay at Modern Retro Ranch was everything we'd hoped an more. The hosts have thought of everything, from extra towels in the bathroom to coffee and filters in the cabinet. Little laminated "instructions" are scattered about to make sure you know how to use everything from the blinds to the washer/dryer. The home is beautiful and comfortable and was a haven for us during a busy family trip. We will hope it is available next time we're in Summerville, because anything else will be second best. Thank you for everything, Erin!

The house was great! The yard was perfect if you’re traveling with a pet and the neighborhood was very walkable. My only small suggestion would be to replace the bath towels.

The property was just as listed online. It was in a quite neighborhood and very close to the downtown area. The house manual was very informative providing details of restaurants and sights to see.

Our extended family was in town for my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. We needed a place that could accommodate our adult children, an infant, and our small dog. This place was perfect for our needs. The house is located only a couple of miles from my in-laws and close to downtown Summerville. I was especially impressed with how exceptionally clean the house is. It looks exactly like the pictures. The master bedroom is amazing and all the beds were comfortable. We had a great weekend but I wish we could have stayed longer. I highly recommend!!

The house was perfect, roomy, clean and a great location for our family. We had to attend my niece’s wedding close by. The house accommodated our family with no problems at all. Highly recommend this location.

Quiet & comfy
A quiet & safe neighborhood, with large pines and spacious yards; the house was clean and comfy, with all necessary amenities, and while not quite as close to attractions (Charleston, beaches etc) as you'd like, the more reasonable price makes up for it.

Comfortable and relaxing
Everything was clean spacious and comfortable! We were in SC for our son’s graduation at the Navy Base in Goose Creek.
The master bedroom was awesome love the shower and tub. Neighborhood was quiet enjoyable. Didn’t get to enjoy Summerville like I had hoped but was moving son off base and get transportation (new car) taken care of! When we return we will be looking at this location for the future hopefully it will be available!
Thanks for a great experience!

Beautiful quiet neighborhood
We rented this for a week to check out the area for our home inspection business and to attend a family wedding. It was so convenient to downtown and the country club where the wedding was held. We were quite busy all week but managed to take some time to relax on the front porch. This home is updated, clean and our bed was very comfortable.

Loved staying here!
This home was perfect for our three teenage boys and ourselves! It was much bigger than it looked online! The backyard hosted nightly volleyball games and the table in the carport was perfect for eating breakfast at each morning. I’m a super light sleeper so being in a quiet neighborhood was very important to me and this neighborhood was very quiet! We have nothing but positive things to say and we would absolutely stay here again!!!
