About this cottage rental
Family owned beautiful four season cottage in a quiet bay situated on almost 1 acre lot with 275 ft of waterfront with huge deck area and sandy beach. Newly renovated and just got on the market.
There are 4 bedrooms (3 queen beds and 1 king bed), 2 sleeping spaces futon in the living room, 2 bathrooms (1st floor shower and 2nd floor bathtub), living room has gas fireplace, laundry is available (washer/dryer).
The kitchen equipped with stainless steel appliances: fridge, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker (regular and capsule compatible), toaster, airfryer. It includes full set of dishes, glasses, cutlery, pots/pans and general kitchenware.
Patio has propane BBQ (tank is provided).
High speed internet is included with wifi service.
Grounds include deck, sandy beach, paddle boat, portable volleyball and badminton nets, firepit.
Located between Fenelon Falls and Bobcaygeon, 10 min drive to each town, with groceries, LCBO, famous Kawartha Dairy and famous Bigley Shoes (Bobcaygeon)
Not one but FOUR golf courses around, 7, 12, 14 and 21 min drive.
Sturgeon Lake is a fishing paradise, includes giant perch, small/large mouth bass, walleye and of course MUSKIE. You can enjoy fishing giant perch and bass right of the shore of our property.

We had another amazing week at the Sun Bay Cottage! The location is perfect and the kids played on the beach and in the water all day. The host is amazing and so easy to contact if you need anything, but since they have thought of everything you never need to contact them.

From the first communication to arrival any questions or queries were answered promptly.
When we opened the door there was a view of the waterfront from the bay to right across the lake through a huge picture window.
Fishing, swimming, and many hours of playing in the sand for a 3 and 6 year old. Large grassy front yard offered space for playing with many areas to sit and relax
Coffee on the dock was beautiful and so peaceful
Living space was spacious for 8 adults and 2 children and two bathrooms worked out just fine.
Our hosts were kind, gracious and very accommodating. We would have no problem returning to such a lovely spot.

The house and grounds were exactly as listed. Very well appointed, comfortable and roomy. We enjoyed being able to sit down together as a large group in the dining area. The deck and the yard leading down to the lake were spacious. The swimming was poor in spite of efforts to clear the weeds near the tiny beach and dock. It is the entire reason for a less than 5 rating. This is not the place for those that like to swim..

We had a great time staying at Sun Bay Cottage! The whole family enjoyed the lakefront property and all the amenities it came with. We all enjoyed taking the kayaks on the water and making fires each night. The kitchen is stocked with all the essentials which made the meal preparations so easy. Thank you Larisa! We had a great time and hope to be back next year!

This was our first time at Sun Bay Cottage and we could not have been happier. The place is wonderful, easy to get to and fully stocked with anything you could need. The location was so handy for quick runs into town or just for an outing, there are so many attractions around. The cottage is beautiful, the kids loved the swimming and building sand castles, the grass lawn was like walking on carpet.
The hosts are amazing, they met us at check in and were available if we needed anything. They are truly ‘premier host’ and have thought of everything you might need.
Can’t wait to go back.

Our second time here at the sun bay cottage. the hosts are so nice and keep the place very clean and comfy. Amazing for both adults and kids. the sand area is prefect to play in and the kayaks and paddle boards are perfect for some time on the water. The town is just around the corner and has fun activates all summer long.

Our stay at the cottage was fantastic! With a group of 8, including both adults and children, we enjoyed every moment. The property offered great water activities and a spacious yard perfect for kids. Nights by the fire pit were a highlight, and the comfortable, well-equipped home had everything we needed. Big house, well stocked kitchen, located 10 min from both Fenelon Falls and Bobcaygeon which both have beaches. Water at this property was not suitable for swimming due to the weeds. Excellent outdoor spaces for eating and sitting to admire the view. We went kayaking everyday. Hosts left us a lovely gift of wine. This place was super clean. Great campfire area. Gorgeous lakeside views. Only drawback was that we had to go out to buy toilet paper.

We had a wonderful time at this amazing cottage. Lara provided an effective and concise orientation and was very attentive to any questions we had during our stay. We loved the nice grassy area for playing games, the outdoor gazebo with screens and a big table, and lots of other outdoor seating.

The cottage was great, although at the time we were there, the algae kind of wrecked the swimming,T.V. area was not comfortable for our whole group of 8 to watch a movie at the same time., but fit 4 comfortably. The one bed in the room with just a dresser was very uncomfortable,and very hot with the door closed. Could use a fan.. We loved the gazebo on the deck, and the closeness to a really great golf course. The hosts were great, and made themselves available for any needs.All in all our time was very enjoyable.

We had such a wonderful time. The view is breathtaking. The place was very clean. Nice and open, lots of space. Fun games and water sports for the kids.

The house was large enough to accommodate the 8 adults and 2 babies in our family. The showpiece was the backyard that was huge and fastastic playing cornhole, bocce, soccer and throwing the baseball around. There are two docks where you can fish from or just relax on and a small sandy beach that was great for the babies. A negative was that there was algae in the lake which was not good for swimming. The mattress in the master bedroom was very good but they were not great in the other 3 bedrooms. Overall it was a good experience.

You can tell Lara and David really care about their property and guests. Upon check-in, they gave us a tour which was very helpful in maintaining the property at a considerable standard. Lara and David were so warm and welcoming and their cottage is well-kept and clean. Our infant and toddler felt right at home (which isn't easy to do in an unfamiliar environment). We will absolutely stay here again. Definitely recommend!

We stayed at Sun Bay cottage last summer and returned this year with our family from the UK. Once again, it did not disappoint. Lara and David have put so much work into improving their beach and lake front for swimming this year, with the child and teen in our party easily able to jump off the dock and swim freely. They had hours of fun. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need for a family break.
David and Lara truly meet their super host title. They think of everything and were there to greet us again. Their warm welcome feels like meeting old friends. We cannot wait for our next visit, thank you both!

Very clean and amazing property. Lots of space to play and replax. The fishing is really good right off the dock. Lots of sports equipment to play games with. The kayaks and paddle boat make it really easy and fun to explore the lake. The location is perfect, quite and secluded but also only 10 min away from 2 towns.

Thank you so much to Lara and her family for a lovely stay at their cottage! We had the perfect amount of space for our whole family, and the cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved the back lawn and soft grass for relaxing, lawn games, and the fire pit. We also got pretty good at navigating on the paddle boat! The cottage was lovely for a family trip. It was also so nice of Lara to get us some treats when we arrived, and I loved how well-organized everything was! There were plenty of plates/utensils/chairs for everyone, and there was lots of room for all of our own belongings as well. Lara clearly put a lot of thought and care into this cottage!
One thing to note is that the cottage is on a larger lake and there is visibility to some of the neighbors across the bay, so it's not totally secluded/forested. Larisa did warn us about the seaweed in the bay as well, but they did their best to clear the seaweed at their little beach and we still enjoyed floating in the water on the pool noodles.
Overall, we had a great trip. Thank you so much for having us!

Our family of ten were very comfortable in the Sun Bay cottage. The house was spotless and well-stocked. The grounds were extensive and the water craft (four kayaks, one pedal boat) accessible and well-used by us. The lakefront was gorgeous.
Only small minus, the swimming area was reedy and weedy. But this was minor compared to the overall joy of the place. Thank you Lara and David.

Winter Wonderland on Sun Bay
The family (spanning 3 generations) enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location in the Kawarthas. The house is very spacious and very well-maintained, just like our home. It truly was a home away from home. We were greeted with a lovely welcoming note and an excellent bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. By all reports, the beds were very comfortable so everyone slept well. The grandkids loved clearing an ice rink on the frozen lake to play hockey as well as roasting marshmallows over the fire. Observing the stars and constellations in the night rendered the stay especially magical! We had a most excellent time and highly recommend this holiday house!

Great spacious vacation home
Originally we booked earlier this year but unfortunately due to COVID, we were not able to gather. We were able to rebook without issue and were glad that we could enjoy this property for the weekend. We were greeted by hosts Lara and David and we received such a warm welcome. The house is very clean and spacious. The large deck/gazebo are perfect for outdoor meals and indoor dining table and sectional couch has lots of seating. The attention to detail by providing all amenities was very appreciated. We enjoyed the lake views, fishing off the docks, large fire pit, games room and large property. We would definitely recommend this location for a getaway - it is very close to Bobcaygeon and Fenelon Falls. The hosts are such a pleasure to deal with and we look forward to the next time when we can enjoy this property again!

Great House. Great Location
So many positives about this cottage.
The owners met us at checkin to give us a personalized tour of the property. They were friendly and quick to contact if we had any questions or concerns.
The house is nicely appointed and upgraded. The kitchen is well organized and labelled. There is a playroom with air hockey, fooseball, board games and more for the kids. And the views were spectacular.
The outdoor space has everything you need: bbq, fire pit, multiple docks, kayaks, small beach, nice fishing.
The cottage is exactly between Bobcaygeon and Fenelon Falls so you have quick access to grocery, restaurants, tourist attractions, and especially the Kawartha Ice Cream Factory.
If we were to give the property any negatives, it would be the amount of seaweed close to the beach. This is a result of the house being in a bay, and the extra hot summer. The owners tried their best to clear the area around the beach of seaweed so we could enjoy swimming.
In summary: nice house, attentive owners, excellent location. Highly recommended.

first time in the Kawartha's didn't disappoint
What an amazing place! Such a warm welcome from Lara and David who could not have been better hosts, Sunbay cottage truly did not disappoint. Originally booked for a family vacation delayed again due to COVID, my husband and I decided to still take the trip. The cottage is so very well equipped, with everything you can think of (from bedlinens, kitchen needs, filtered drinking water, water sports, badminton/volleyball and even a little games room should it ever be raining!) and as well, it's super clean. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are amazing for small or large groups. The waterfront, little beach and docks are perfect for a day of fun and fishing. Kayaking around the bay is safe and easy. We ended each day with a barbecue on the large deck and a fire to watch the sunset and colours over the bay. The stars in the night sky are unbelievable to see, making for a perfect time. The cottage is located an easy drive to Fenelon Falls or Bobcaygeon for short trips out and is so perfect for a summer getaway, we've already booked for next year!! If you choose this gem you will not be disappointed! Thank you Lara and David for allowing us to share your beautiful home.

Great Stay!
Went for a girls weekend and we really enjoyed the cottage. It is spacious with beautiful views of the lake. It is tucked away in a small inlet away from the busier parts of the lake. The owners were helpful and kind. We would definitely stay here again.

PERFECTION
We had a great time at the property. The property owners were extremely inviting amd greeted us upon arrival to give us a tour. The kitchen is well stocker. The location was perfect, 10 minutes from both Fenelon Falls and Bobcaygeon. There was also a game room, life jackets, kayaks and a paddle boat. It is located in a small bay with very still water. Perfect for families and small children.

Lovely spacious cottage!
Lovely cottage, very clean and a nice layout. Lots of room for lawn games in the backyard and we enjoyed the nice big deck and docks. Swimming isn't great for adults due to lots of weeds so we spent more time on boats/jetskis. All in all we had a wonderful time at this cottage and appreciated the friendliness of the host. Hidden Gem Family Getaway
Cottage was exactly as described and Lara & David were amazing hosts who made us feel welcome at their place. Excellent location close to Fenelon Falls. Adults and kids loved fishing off the dock, playing in the private sandy beach, kayaking, swimming, and jumping off the dock. Lots of seating outdoors on the deck, dock and around the firepit. House was very clean and Lara was there to welcome us and give a tour. Thanks for sharing your beautiful place with us and we can’t wait to return!

The property is absolutely stunning! The host is great and very responsive. She provided a great welcome package with everything we needed to know about the property and the neighbour hood. Great Getaway with lots to do!
The property is easy to get to from anywhere in southern/eastern Ontario. It's large, had lots of water surrounding it, nice and quiet. They have toys for children and adults (kayaks, pedal boat, games room). We loved the fire pit by the water and had some beautiful nights looking at starts. The cottage itself is well-appointed with lots of room to spread out. Easy to cook in the large kitchen with lots of appliances and cooking utensils. We really enjoyed staying here and exploring the surroundings of Fenelon Falls and Bobcaygeon - would definitely recommend!

The house is big with good A/C. The backyard is huge. Near water u have a firepit and nice enterance to the water not deep.
