This is a tough one. The house had some very good qualities, but not a great first impression. The pool and hot tub were great. The house is great for a large group. The listing is an accurate representation of what you get.
My complaint would be more with property management. No attention to detail. Lots of little things that could be fixed. Poor effort cleaning it from the prior stay.

House is great, a little dated, but everything was great. Kitchen equipment covers about everything and double dishwashers for our large group was great! I would recommend heating the pool, it gets cold.

Gorgeous house and location, but needs lots of attention/maintenance to make it worth the price. Pool was awesome... pool table and kayaks - not so much (worn out and falling apart...). Bring your own 12-cup coffee filters; the stores were out and none provided. No keurig, so don't bother bringing k-cups. Otherwise, it was ok. Still had a great time with family!

Overall stay was fine location next to retention pond not ideal for insects and snakes
Frogs were so loud at night it was tough to sleep
5 pm check in and 10 am check out with no flexibility feels almost criminal
Sheets bedding and towels were cheap and not good quality
No essentials such as trash bags salt or pepper at house which is bazarre
Won’t be renting again if still managed by Vacasa

We enjoyed our time in Avon. The photos of the house look better than the actual house as the house has definitely been lived in. We’ve stayed in OBX before and paid more for house rental, so we definitely weren’t expecting a palace for the price of this house. The top floor is beautiful with all of the windows and doors leading out to the deck. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to have the pool heated because we were told the weather was going to be too cold, but we had days in the low 70s. One of the bathrooms wasn’t cleaned when we arrived, but someone from Vacasa came to clean it for us, so that was wonderful. Also, if you are looking to fish in the water behind the house, you may want to look for a different spot. My son tried numerous times without any bites. Definitely a fine home, but not as stunning as the photos show. We are looking forward to our next visit to OBX!

Rating the Pelican’s Pad with 5 stars for meeting all our reasons for booking it: beautiful home, bedrooms/baths, living/kitchen area, elevator from parking level, accessibility, handicap friendly bathroom, seclusion, privacy, views, very nice pool, multiple beautiful decks. Great new floors throughout, dog friendly. We did have some issues but Vacasa was prompt and helpful. Cleanliness was in our opinion not matching the quality of the home. The kitchen could have better ware.
But we had a wonderful vacation, spent here 2 weeks. The location is also great, close to the pier, restaurants, shops, sound pathway, you could even walk to the community pool. For a lake location, we were pleased with the absence of bugs.
Thank you!

My family & I stayed for a week in July. There were 8 adults & 6 kids. The house was the perfect size for us. The bedrooms were great as was the outside area. We had a hard time with the WiFi. Most of us ended up having to turn it off on our phones for it to work. I also did not like how the outside wasn’t completely fenced in. Our dog was able to walk outside from the theatre room & go down the steps & run free. I would have preferred she be able to get right into the pool area. Otherwise, the house was great for us!

The house is a perfect dog-friendly family getaway. It is on a cul-de-sac street, so bike riding is safe for kids. The pool, hot tub and two kayaks on the lake entertained all.

The house needs a lot of work. The kitchen is disorganized and the refrigerator shelves are broken. The pictures online are deceiving. The kitchen utensils and cabinets need cleaning and organizing. We were missing bath towels for one of the bathrooms which took 3 days to get. The best part of the house was the pool, which was nice and a good size. There were several lights burned out throughout the house. The hand soaps and lotion could be nicer. We had one kitchen towel. I had to buy more. There is dog poop all over the backyard. The kayaks are broken and the pond is horrible. This house is way overpriced for the condition.

Opportunities to improve
The shower doors in the 3 master bathrooms need to be fixed as they will fall in on you while showering and there is mold on the shower doors. The ice maker on the main floor does not work—we called upon arrival and a repair man came immediately but it never worked after he left. The stove does not work well and the one dishwasher works only on heavy load. Not as clean as I would have expected with dust and dead bugs on the shelves by the TV. Replacing the appliances and better cleaning would go a long way as it truly is a beautiful home!

Good house but needs updates
The house was big enough for our large family which was nice and the pool area was great. The house was not clean to our standards when we arrived so we had to do cleaning. Sheets and towels were all clean though. Beds comfortable. Carpet and couches really need to be updated/replaced. They are old with a lot of stains and just felt dirty to me. The kitchen equipment definitely could use some updating. New grill was nice, and lounge chairs at the pool were nice and there were a lot of them. Beautiful sunset views and the house was overall fine but the updates above would make it a better fit for a future rental for us.

Could be a really great house!
The house is in need of some major TLC inside and out. The grill outside is falling apart, house needs power washing and painting outside, some upgrades were done to the pool which is really nice, but the old was just thrown over the fence and left. The bathrooms have mold in the tracks of all the shower doors and the doors are all but falling off. Some doors do not lock and there have been leaks in the ceiling. But with all of that, the beds were comfortable, lots of refrigerator storage and great having one out by the pool area. Great house for using kayaks. With the rent you pay the little details matter.

Wonderful Vacation
We had a wonderful relaxing vacation. The house was set up perfectly for the 16 of us. Plenty of room for everyone. The kayaks were great as was the pool. The extra refrigerators were wonderful to have. Easy access to the beach. We would definitely book this house again.

Family vacation
Loved that it had a elevator, pond to kayak, hot tub and pool and washer and dryer.Needed a couple upgrades, meaning a couple spindles on railing was loose which made me worry having kids there, the grill needed replaced because burners was already rusted. dryer. Overall we enjoyed our stay and had plenty of room to not be on top of each other. Thank you!

Great for family reunion
This home had so many things to do we had trouble doing everything during the week we stayed. The pool was awesome and in great shape. There’s a little cabana beside the pool where we had a Lowcountry seafood boil. Loved watching the wildlife on the lake every day. So much room for everyone in this house and a 15 minute walk to the beach. I’ve never stayed in Avon until this trip and it was so nice and close to the grocery store and cool shopping. We rented surfboards for the week from Hatteras board sports. It’s just a great home and it’s huge and it’s in a beautiful area. A few little things could use some TLC but otherwise it was great.

Great large family house.
This house was perfect. It was a great size to hold15 people. It was clean, roomy and had everything you needed. It is a bright house with all the windows and right across the road to the beach. But the location of the house gives you privacy without being in the middle of the Outer banks crowds. We all had a great time celebrating my moms 80th birthday. We brought in a caterer to cook a seafood dinner for us. He also had a big kitchen to work in with everything he needed. and the elevator was a big plus.

Great house for family
The kitchen had enough stuff to cook every night. The elevator was great for groceries and taking stuff to and from the car. The pool was the best! Right across from Avon pier to access the beach. Everyone loved the house!
