If you're planning the ideal escape to the cape, then look no further than Yellowfin! The interior of this dog-friendly home away from home has been professionally decorated with a comfortable and fun beach decor. Here you'll enjoy all the comforts of a home such as a fully-equipped kitchen, two ceiling fans and central A/C that will keep you nice and cool during sunny days, a private washer/dryer combo, flatscreen TVs with cable, and even an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand after spending the day sunbathing.
Those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point (four miles) and if luck is on your side during the summer you may just pass a few sea turtle nests. Be careful to stay outside the barriers. Take a favorite location on Hatteras Island, build a beautiful resort village and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest rental units to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bikes because Buxton’s shopping, restaurants, and a trip to the light are very close.

The layout of the house works well with lots of room for four people with room to spare. A television in each bedroom is a nice feature. The cookware provided is minimal but works. The beach is nice but you don't have access to beach south of house due to safety issues from exposed storage tanks from prior Navy facility. Buxton offers a nice assortment of shopping and eating for what is a very small town.

I love this location but I had some issues with the cleanliness of the house. There was fur and crumbs all around the couch and living room chairs. The queen bed pillow shams were dirty. The upstairs bathroom had a broken toilet paper holder and no bathtub stopper to give my daughter a bath (had to use the sink). Guest services was not helpful considering no one showed up at the designated time to fix the bathroom issues.

Quiet, clean and comfortable place to stay for a family of 4 and 2 dogs. Close to the beach and even had a little view from the back porch, and great sunset viewing from front porch! Kitchen could use a few more items, such as Tupperware, aluminum foil, etc. no biggie though. We’ll be back!

we had an absolutely amazing visit. The house was just what we needed to relax and feel like we were at home for a week at the beach. Thank you for a beautiful stay.

This little cottage was literally a 4 minute walk to the beach & with the kids it was a breeze getting there and back from a fun day at the beach. (wasn't over crowded at all). It was so quite and peaceful in the cul-de-sac, sitting on the back porch having dinner and listening to the waves crash was my favorite part! 2nd favorite part was the day we left it was raining and it was still so beautiful and relaxing made me want to stay. truly HOME away from HOME! I cant wait for my next trip here!. my absolute favorite beach yet!

Great beach access. Home was clean, kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils and pots and pans.

The place was absolutely wonderful. The only problem I personally had was with the stairs. The Handrails could be placed on both sides as I had a stroke and could have had more support. Believe me I made it up and down with no help but it would have given me more stability.

Overall, the home was great for our summer family vacation.

The location was great, house was clean but not very cozy. It was obvious the house had never been lived in by owners and had a hotel feel. Kitchen utensils were limited. Kitchen table was small and not practical ( it had a checkerboard design on table top). Living room furniture was small and very uncomfortable.

This was a great place to stay. Clean, secure, comfortable and inviting. Recommend to anyone!

There is nothing wrong with this home. It is reasonably priced and doesn’t come with a list of chores. It is pet friendly. There is adequate space and comes with a few nice extras such as an outdoor shower with hot water. However, don’t expect this home to be immaculate. It is quite dated, paint coming off, dust, carpet stains, etc. It was “clean”, but not well cared for. I am not picky and I had a wonderful vacation. I was asked for feedback when I checked in and gave an honest opinion. They messaged me back and would have sent someone to fix any problems I had, if I had not told them I was fine and not worried about it.

The house was pretty run down condition an housekeeping needs a refresher course . The drains were clogged with previous renters hair an toilets were not flushing correctly. Dried dog pooh on back porch. Dirty kitchen utensil between furniture in living room.

Our time at yellowfin was very relaxing! The house was very spacious with a lot of storage. The decks had nice views of the ocean and the property was a short walk or drive to the ocean. The only thing to note is that the house has a lot of stairs, so be prepared to walk up and down a lot. Despite that, I would highly recommend yellowfin to those who want a seamless and relaxing vacation.

The bed and mattress need to be replaced in the beachside bedroom. This was already mentioned in a review and we assumed it was already done, but it wasn't!
Great location! Great house size! We will be back again!
