About this house rental

Be it with family or friends, Lakeside a'Lure is the best place for making memories. Our home is the only single-family residence east of the 2nd Street bridge in the quaint village of Algoma. With a 70’+ dock for the private use of our guests and a 60’+ upper deck, the only trip shorter to Lake Michigan is on a charter fishing boat! The morning views of the Ahnapee River, Algoma lighthouse, and Lake Michigan are unmatched. Lakeside a'Lure is simply the best catch in Algoma!

This vacation home is professionally managed and maintained by Ruesch Management. Our property management office is located in downtown Green Bay, just 30 minutes away from this property. We are a phone call away if an issue should arise that needs our immediate attention.

Algoma is a paradise for boating, fishing, kayaking, biking, and boasts a well-groomed beach with boardwalk. Home to Von Stiehl Winery and Ahnapee Brewing Company, this charming Great Lakes vacation community offers several wineries, breweries and some of the best cheese producers that Wisconsin has to offer. Bring your boat! Or for a unique experience, charter one of the local fishing guides to get a taste of Algoma’s fishing legacy.

We are located 5 minutes from Door County, 15 minutes from Sturgeon Bay and Kewaunee and only 30 minutes from Green Bay and Two Rivers.

Guests enjoy private access to all parts of the property, with the exception of a few locked closets for cleaning and personal items. Parking must be restricted to the two spaces in the garage plus the area immediately behind the garage which can hold one or two mid-sized vehicles. Please do not block the adjacent driveway to the parking lot for RV Charters. Parking is not permitted in the RV Charters lot behind the house at any time for any reason. There is also ample street parking (free) and public lots for truck/trailer parking in the summer months.

Our accessible home has three levels to sleep 15 comfortably. Enjoy two full kitchens, gas fireplace, upper deck and lower dock on the Ahnapee River and a “Birds Nest” copula offering great entertaining space with 360 degrees views of Algoma and Lake Michigan. Our home has 5 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms, main floor living and lower level family room and two laundry facilities making for a comfortable stay.

Spaces have been newly decorated with comfort and enjoyment in mind. The master bedroom has an ensuite with a king bed. Two bedrooms house queen-sized beds, another features a twin over full bed loft combination and the final bedroom has twin bunks. The lower level family room includes two queen sleeper sofas. There is a fully appointed upper kitchen with dining space for 14. The dining room offers beautiful water views of both Lake Michigan and the Ahnapee River. The lower level kitchen has all the amenities with seating for 4 just steps from the river dock area.

The lower level family room has plenty of seating, television, storage space for outside activities and a foosball table. Both deck and dock areas offer spaces for seating, dining and relaxing. A gas grill is available for use.

We have 2 kayaks in the lower dock for you to use. Please use a lifejacket! We have 4 in the lower level closet where we also store the oars. Use the kayak launch off the dock to make your life a bit easier. Store the kayaks bottoms up once done. If the beach is calling, we have 5 turkish beach towels in the lower closet as well. Use the red cart to haul all your goodies to and fro. Remember to bring the cart back when done.

The house is within walking distance of all that Algoma has to offer.

Please be careful when utilizing the patio areas and while enjoying the water, especially when small children are present. The railings on the decks are cable-style and would do little to stop a child from walking off into the water.

Please note that due to the varying length of stays at this property, we do not provide disposable items such as soaps/detergents/cleaning chemicals, trash bags, coffee filters, spices/cooking oil, or paper products. The unit is fully furnished with linens, towels, and a fully stocked kitchen. Our cleaners provide a few starter disposable items for your initial arrival.

Absolutely beautiful home in quaint Algoma Wisconsin. Enjoyed an extended weekend with the family and I don’t believe the homes discrimination does it justice. The home is clean, with brand new items. A perfect place to sit back relax, go to the beach, enjoy the local establishments and us the kayaks in the home. We were lucky and booked in the weekend of Shanty Day. Awesome time and Sunday night fireworks were an added bonus. This is a great location with a lot to do. Top 3 VRBO that I have stayed at. Hopefully we will be able to return. Thanks for the great stay.

This was the absolute perfect property for our family celebrating my mom's 80th birthday. 4 nights was the perfect amount of time. My mom uses a walker and the house had railings and ramps to ease her with that. The winery was a short enough walk for her to do and was lovely. Algoma is away from the hustle and bustle of Door County, but still charming. We loved watching the fishing charters coming and going. People were very friendly and the bakery across the street was delightful.

We loved the home and all of the amenities, however, anyone who is considering bringing a boat or Angling in Algoma needs to consider several items. Zero options for parking a boat or trailer. We were talked to by cops and the marina several times, because the home had no options for pickup parking (and they all told us conflicting things). There are only "three" spots for the rental and not one of our pickups fit in one of their parking spots. The dock on the property was not equipped to handle our boat. Unless you dock a yacht, you will need more than your bumpers. Our 26 foot HewesCraft didn't work for reference. We had to visit the local hardware store (in Sturgeon Bay) to make stoppers to guarantee the dock and boat wouldn't be ruined. If you are looking to enjoy any sun on the decks it only happens in the morning. The afternoon sun is only visible through the garage, where we ate dinner on several occasions, not ideal. Very fun to walk around a bit in Algoma and the home was comfortable overall. If you are coming for a weekend away and not fishing, you will be good to go!

Our multi-generational family vacation was absolutely fantastic owing heavily to Lakeside A’Lure’s amenities and location! The property is truly unique with two separate living areas and plenty of space for multiple family groups, huge dock / balcony space on the Ahnapee River for dropping in kayaks, fishing, watching the Lake Michigan charter boats, or enjoying a fire in the evening. The house is easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping, Crescent Beach, and groceries. Some of our favorite spots were the Von Stiehl winery, Son of Skaliwags and Algoma Pizza Bowl (restaurants) and Cafe Tlazo. If your family wants a great home base to explore Door County but avoid staying in some of the more congested villages and towns, this property is a winner!
