This is my favorite house in Avon! Down a private wooded drive, everything was clean, the beds were comfy, and the views from the top floor were unbeatable! Views of the sound all around. Highly recommend.
5.0 / 5.0
This house is spectacular, one of the best ones I ever rented.
There were some bad reviews about it that we found out after we booked, so we contacted property manager and they assured us the problemas were fixed, and sure they did. We found a very clean house, with everything working and very nice kitchen, outstanding views, comfortable beds and we had a blast.
I highly recommend this property!

View is spectacular. Windy wooded driveway love the privacy. Mattresses in several bedrooms definite need to be upgraded. Dryer would take 3 times to dry a load. Oven will burn your food. Would help to label where items are in kitchen no rhyme or reason.

The upstairs red sectional couch seems fine, but anyone with a mold allergy will have a strong reaction. The beds were also very dirty; the master bedroom had 5 mattress covers layered on. Each cover was dirtier than the one before it. The bottom-most cover was full of detritus and brown marks...
The kitchen knives were very dull, and the main one was shaped like a hockey stick. The rest of the utensils/cookware were ok, though.
The TV/entertainment system was really confusing (5 different boxes were plugged in; you had to use 3 different remotes to get to the HDMI input). The top floor TV felt really small, compared to the size of the room and the seating options.
Aside from that, the location itself was great. The wood furniture (tables/chairs) was solid, and the deck offered an amazing view of the sound.

Overall we had a great time and I would consider staying here again. The views from the deck at sunset were amazing with the house being almost surrounded by the sound. The house also is private with a secluded driveway and no houses on either side. The kitchen is very well stocked in terms of pans, dishes, etc but there were no kitchen towels or pot holders which would have been helpful. The house is spacious and there was more than enough room for all of us to either gather in one room or find some privacy. The house did need someone to come through and patch, sand, and paint drywall. Additionally, the air hockey table and game system were not usable (no paddles for air hockey, and the game system doesn't work). The only other problem was the door locks. We couldn't unlock the first-floor door and the second-floor would work but it always took a bit of playing around to get it to unlock. Overall the location and views of the sound are among the best I've seen. With a little sprucing up of the interior this would be a top destination and a 5-star rating.

House is beautiful, in a beautiful setting with phenomenal views of the sound. Unfortunately it was dirty when we arrived at check in at 6:00pm. Kitchen really needed at lot of TLC. Lots of space and bedrooms. Avon is our favorite area and this house is on a quiet residential street hidden away. Close to restaurants and Cape Hatteras lighthouse and beach.

One of the best locations on the island.
Beautiful home, lovely decks around the house, great location for privacy. You feel like you have your own island. Amazing views out the living room/kitchen area. Direct water front access for water sports. Great location for kayaking, wind surfing, Paddle boarding, and so much more. Very happy with our stay.

This house is awesome!!!
270-degree water views, a little beach, and privacy! So much space that a family can really spread out. This was our second trip to Knock Out, and we can’t wait to go back.

Great place to stay with an amazing view of the sound!
The view was amazing and loved how secluded the house was! Lots of room for everyone to have their own space. Nice size kitchen and large stove to cook meals for a big group. Loved the accessibility of being able to put our kayaks in so easily to the sound. The one thing that needs more attention is the cleaning. The house was somewhat clean, however there was animal hair on the top level floor, dust on the entertainment center, and the shower in the top floor masterbedroom had dirt and grim in between the sliding glass doors, which was suprising since there was supposed to be extensive cleaning done due to covid according to the website.

This home was perfect for our “framily” vacation. Each family had their own floor, living area and bathrooms. The views from this home are the best we have ever had from any rental over our last 11 years up and down the OBX. The kitchen was more than adequately equipped with amazing appliances and any tools you may need. The three kings suited each of the adult couples well. There are a LOT of stairs but each time you climb them and reach the top, you are rewarded with practically a 270 degree water view. It’s truly amazing. The furniture in the main living area is still in good repair as far as stains and tears but is not comfortable at all. The cushions show the wear and tear (as a rental would, we expected this) but it didn’t bother us much as we spent most of our time outside on the deck, at the sound or on the beach. The house advertises a small “beach” where kids can play but we weren’t able to utilize that. There wasn’t any sand there, just covered up with a lot of old grass washed up. The adults however did wade out into the sound for some fishing. It’s barely waist deep way out, mostly knee deep. Very nice for them. Another reviewer mentioned the carpets were gross but they seem to have since been shampooed, and didn’t look bad at all. The beds were semi comfortable and the master bath was nice. Shower wasn’t remotely clean but would be very nice should someone put in some elbow grease. The house overall served our needs and didn’t cause any hiccups. Everything was in working order, worn, but working. We would rent again, most likely, for the views. You can see the sunrise perfectly from the kitchen window and the view of the sunset across the sound was breathtaking every single night. My wine in the evening will never be the same without that amazing view. Will be hard to beat.

Beautiful views, great location
Loved being right on the sound, the views are incredible!
House is nice but definitely needs some TLC, carpets are pretty gross and the furniture and beds are not comfortable at all.

Like Your Own Private Island (a little)
The driveway is a long very secluded dirt driveway shrouded in trees and might cause you to wonder if you found the right place. The secluded setting is is a bonus. It feels like you rented your own island (a little). There is a nice place to park your car under cover near the outdoor showers.
The outside of the house is not as new and shiny as the decade-old photos available online. It is now a neutral color and kind of sun-beaten. But in good repair. We did not see any pests during our stay!
The layout is great for a family with kids, with so many bedrooms and bathrooms.
Internet was about 5m down (which is serviceable) and just under 1m up (which is terrible). We had people get off the wifi to stream shows.
When you climb the stairs to the top floor for the first time you immediately realize why this is a great place to rent. Wonderful views. The house is tall enough that on the top floor you can enjoy both sunrises and sunsets. The sunsets were so good that we scheduled it as an event every night we could.
The living area on the top floor was a great for visiting everyone. There is a decent size TV in the living area with DirectTV. The top floor TV system includes a big audio amp that switches HDMI inputs. There are three speakers built in to the wall that sound pretty good. There are also two outside speakers on the top floor deck that are controlled from the amp. A surprisingly nice setup.
There is a small beach area that goes out very far and gradually gets deeper. The kids loved it.
We did a lot of cooking. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, even if some of the pots and pans have a few miles on them. The 6-burner Viking gas stove with exhaust fan got a lot of use. The kitchen had two drip coffee makers. Keurig did not work. The AC worked well.
Even with the rainy few days we loved our visit. I would rent this place again with a big group. It's fantastic views and seclusion make it special. The well equipped kitchen made us step up our cooking game. I hope they can improve the internet speeds!

Cockroach 3-MC
We thought the view was beautiful and the beds were clean and comfortable but everything else was falling apart. The water heater didn't work for most of our stay. The oven burned our food when set at 300 degrees after just a few minutes. We found cockroaches in the kitchen, first floor doorway and shower. Cabinets and handles were filthy and the shower drain was full of hair when we arrived. To put it mildly, we have never been more disgusted with a rental home. I really hope that management will take our concerns seriously and have the home deep cleaned. We will not be back!
