About this cabin rental

This hidden mountain getaway has a spacious deck that invites you out of the vaulted great room and into the magnificent mountain air. The overlooks of the lodgepole pine forest and distant snow-capped peaks are spectacular. Be sure to get your selfie with Mt. Sherman in the background!

Off the beaten path, you'll enjoy this warm and spacious cabin with large windows and stunning views to wake each morning to. The Bristlecone features an open floor plan with a cozy wood stove, and a large family-sized dining table. Make yourself a warm cup of hot chocolate or grill out some delicious burgers with our full stocked kitchen and grilling supplies. There's even a buffet full of some of your soon-to-be favorite card games, board games, brain teasers, and puzzles so that everyone can gather together for your mountain memory-making, family fun.

There are two bedrooms on the main level with a full bath. The Queen-sized bed, Guest Room even offers a extra-oversized closet that can double as a quiet napping area for little ones, complete with a pack n' play. The other main level sleeping space is our Bunk Room, containing two twin-over-full bunks. Upstairs is a King-size bed, Master Bedroom Suite, full bath, and a cozy loft with bean bags, more games, and mountain views. Don't tell anyone, but some of our favorite views of Mt Sherman are often from that loft window!

The basement is laid out for easy entry directly from the garage, where you can pull-in, drop your skiing, hiking, biking, or other adventure gear right at the door and then get comfortable with more living space and another full bathroom. This lower level family area is set up with a pool table and an 80" curved Smart TV for hours of entertainment, complete with DVDs, Blu-rays, and connected to Disney+ and Amazon Prime. This level also features a laundry/utility room with full-size high-efficiency washer and dryer to keep the adventures rolling, even after the dust and dirt show up.

The Bristlecone is located in the majestic mountain community of Valley of the Sun, 10 minutes north of Fairplay, 24 miles south of great skiing and activities in Breckenridge, or 45 miles from world famous white water rafting, hot springs, and adventures in Buena Vista.

We are nestled away at 11,200 feet, up a wonderful winding road that passes through portions of Pike National forest. During the snow season (Oct - April), we strongly recommend snow chains, 4-Wheel Drive vehicles, and/or snow tires in case there's snowfall while you're there.

Have a large family or multiple families traveling together? Consider checking out Cabin 322, VRBO property ID 2394105. This property is located right next door and our shared space contains an excellent frisbee golf course in the summer!

We had SUCH a wonderful stay at the Bristlecone Cabin. Our group ranged from 2yo up to 67yo and we all just absolutely loved it. It is decorated so beautifully and every space is SO cozy. It was the perfect place for us to come "home" to every day. Thank you, again, for sharing this beautiful space!

This cabin and the view were absolutely gorgeous! Cannot recommend it enough. The elevation was a bit high for us Ohio folks but got used to it after a few days and were able to enjoy ourselves. The kids loved the basement area and spent every evening down there playing pool and watching movies. Saw lots of

We enjoyed the beautiful views! The pool table and games were an added bonus, as was the passing fox seen off the deck. The primary bedroom was spacious and comfortable and the floor to ceiling windows in the living room provided a great view. Host was very responsive!

The house is very clean, well appointed, and comfortable for hanging out, quiet time, and sleeping. The location is nice and quiet and has the remote cabin feel and brilliant views, but it is still close enough to Fairplay the town to make the stay convenient. I am glad we picked a pool table and entertainment basement area as the bonus feature for where we stayed as we used that more than we would have a jacuzzi. The local grocery store has everything you will want for cooking and supplies for your time at the cabin - no need to worry about limited options at the store. We also enjoyed breakfast at the Robins Nest several days before our day trips to around the area. I selected Fairplay as a base camp because there are several day trips that are easy to do from there that allowed us to see more of Colorado and the Rockies without having to stay in different places each night. Of course we did not see everything in the week we were there but what we saw was amazing and beautiful. The downtown area of Fairplay also has some amazing shops to explore which allowed my family a rest day from driving, but still let me see some really interesting art from local artists and get some excellent home made ice cream.

We have a overall great stay. We enjoyed all the towns around FairPlay and really some some fabulous sites. I would definitely stay here again. Great host who are very helpful. We saw Breckinridge , aspen, Leadville, beanua vista, manitou springs and Colorado Springs so it is decent driving distant from those towns.
