You'll adore the ocean views from almost all rooms within the house, to say nothing of the decor that pays tribute to the ocean. This unbeatable gem has been recently renovated with all three bathrooms beautifully remodeled, a brand new ocean-facing main deck, and updated living room furniture and dining table. Refined decor comes to life in bright seaside colors, resulting in a cheerful Southern-chic look throughout the home. You'll be able to cook up something delicious inside the spacious kitchen equipped with new stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and a kitchen island - eat in the dining room or at the breakfast bar with enough seating for four. Better yet, take it out to the spacious and brand new (2022) sundeck furnished with new Adirondack chairs. Guests of the upper-level bedroom can enjoy views from a beach-facing deck all their own.
If you're looking to spend most of your time out by the beach (and why wouldn't you?), this home has the amenities you need to make it happen. Walk down to the beach on a small footpath. Rinse off the sand in an enclosed outdoor shower with both hot and cold water. Process your catch of the day at the fish cleaning station. The entire ground area shaded deck under the house has enough built-in seating for everyone to relax. The family dog is also welcome to join in on the beach fun at this home!

This is a good house on a great location. Overall we would definitely consider returning. The spot is about perfect and the view and access are wonderful.
The house is showing its age, but repairs appear to be underway and nothing interfered with a great vacation.
There are blinds, but the beach facing windows could really use them as well. This was noted both for privacy and to better fit with the lights off for turtles push. The master bedroom door also doesn't close right.
The grill is very small, so it didn't meet our needs. But there were plenty of other options, and we didn't really notice.
But the overall ability to just sit on the deck and then walk right down to the beach was perfect. And the house had everything we need.
Looking forward to checking out this place in the future.

Home was very spacious and unique. However, it needs work. Cleanliness was just fine and everything needed in a rental was provided but property needs work to make it more “home” like and welcoming.

The photos were taken 15 years ago. This property has been abused and neglected. I should have read the reviews prior to booking, the local Vacasa staff was irresponsible and sometimes snotty. The kitchen is not adequately equipped. The dishes are chipped and the pans are rusty. There are no blinds. There is not an outdoor shower or even a slicker to wash you feet. The walkway is overgrown and full of stickers. Light switches come off in your hand, I had to request 2 service calls on appliances. There is not adequate lighting in the outdoor space. Do not plan to grill anything, bumecause the grill is not accessible. The kayak pictured is full of water and trash. Most property managers on the island offer a rental credit, but Vicasa does not. I have stayed in St George for 10 years, this is by far the worst I have ever stayed in.

Pros: Fantastic location with gorgeous, expansive views of the beach and ocean. Fabulous decks with plenty of seating. Spacious. Loved the bottom room for storage. Cons: Home is still in need of repairs after over a year of negative reviews. Needs window coverings in bedrooms and bathrooms (no window coverings anywhere). Kitchen supplies need updating and/or restocking. Unable to operate washer and unsuccessful in obtaining fresh towels during stay (to replace wet towels sitting in inoperable washer) although we were assured this would be handled. Overall, beautiful home with lots of potential but in serious need of attention.

We were notified 3 days before arrival that there was ongoing construction at the house. We were told we could stay elsewhere. But we were never given an option and no one could describe the construction. I called multiple times, emailed, texted. NO ANSWERS. No one would respond. No one would talk to me. We finally just went to the house. The location was awesome so we unloaded. But there were multiple issues. Ceiling construction was creepy and gross, several windows had no blinds, other blinds were broken, kitchen trash can broken, no bags for it, holes in the wall , washer didn’t work, front door lock didn’t work properly—we had to leave back door unlocked when we left to get back in, kitchen faucet didn’t turn off properly—had to jiggle it to get it to turn off, no hot water in one of the bathrooms, I texted VACASA. They said you can leave for a refund or we can move. But not options to move were ever given. VRBO & VACASA were unresponsive and unhelpful. I’m mad as hell, expect a refund and will never use either VRBO or VACASA again.

Great location and fun house. Needs washer repaired and remodeling completed.

We enjoyed the time with our family but the stay in the home was disappointing. Not worth the price in my opinion. This place was very hazardous especially with kids. One of our children cut her toe on the buckled wood flooring and we were constantly tripping over the damaged flooring. Then the ceiling started caving/buckling in. Around the vents looked moldy and the microwave quit working but it looked old anyways but with a baby a microwave was a necessity.
Overall I would not stay here again. We’re pretty simple people to make happy but this was just unexceptable.
I even contacted Vacasa and sent photos and never even got a callback or follow up. I actually had to contact Vacasa the day we were leaving because I never heard anything. This was extremely hazardous and we didn’t feel like we got the appropriate care.

We loved our week in Lighthouse by the Sea! The location was amazing. Steps to the beach. A minute from the Lighthouse. My family loved it. The house had everything we needed. We would certainly rent it again.

Loved the Location. Not sure what the $500 cleaning fee is for. Didn't love the mold smell. Didn't love the sticky counters. Place needs a deep cleaning especially in these times. Time to also fix the place up to better standards. Charging a premium for it but its more low budget motel vibe. Cable tv went out second day. Carpets are stained and need replaced. Pest control is needed as we killed 2 rather pesky roaches. Wont stay there again.

Nice spacious beachfront home. Needs some updates dirty carpet! Lacking in kitchen ware if you want to cook! Newer furniture would be nice for the amount of rent.

So quiet and serene

Great location, on the beach. Nice decks, however no cover. Very quiet house. Bathrooms open into more than one room. toilets need to be upgraded and re-set, shower heads need to be upgraded, water pressure was a bit weak. Kitchen had been re-done, new counters, appliances, etc. It is possible all renovations have not been completed yet (bathrooms, beds, etc.). Would recommend this houset, and would stay there again.

We loved almost everything except we had problems with the frig and lost some food. It was not cold enough. The only other problem was that the animals who had preceded us had urinated on the stairways which are carpeted. We didn’t have pets.

Property manager kept calling insisting that contractors were required to be at the home during our stay there. This is not professional Property is in need of blind replacement upstairs for ( missing blind on door) there are general maintenance issues, which should be attended to when there are NO vacation renters in the home. Suggest providing an overview of kitchen necessities. ( no wine glasses, no breakfast bowls) Home does have a convenient outdoor shower with hot and cold water, which greatly helps when returning from the beach. Nice that owners have a kayak and paddle boards to use on beach. A pleasant stay, primarily suited to dog owners, as this location is dog friendly.

This home is beautiful and spacious. The kids found the tower majestic and loved to hang out up there and look out on the beach.

Definitely not a place for older adults(60+) or little children. Due to the steep stairs leading up to the main floor of the home. We mainly used back stairway and door.
The carpet & rugs in this home was horrendous, covered with what appeared to be pet stains! I wore shoes in the home the entire time I was there, Including the showers(I wore my crocs) It just felt dirty! Pathway to the beach needs a boardwalk, due to the hot sand on the way from the beach. Gorgeous views!

We were happy with our rental! A few things to note that we realized when we got there for future bookings to have an idea about. Lots of stairs! Nothing in on the first floor. This should be known for families with small children and just a heads up for bringing in luggage, groceries, carrying children, etc. Also, the two bedrooms on the 2nd story have an adjoining bathroom (sometimes a privacy issue), the 2nd bathroom on the 2nd floor also connects to a bedroom and is where the washer/dryer are so sometimes it was an issue when someone needed to use washer and dryer if someone else was showering or using the bathroom. Other bedrooms are on 3rd floor and share a bathroom as well. Also, the toilets are VERY low and small. The house was clean, a few cosmetic issues (carpet stains, chipping paint, old shower curtain rods) and wear and tear, but overall good. A few very positive notes is that all the beds were very comfortable, the walk to the beach from the house was much closer than the pictures seemed, we loved having the games there and using the boogie boards that were furnished, and the end of the island that you’re on is PERFECT. Bring your golf cart! So fun to stroll the roads/dirt roads in the evenings! I was a little nervous after re-reading some of the reviews before we got there about cleanliness and there being mold… but it was not an issue at all! They’ve done a great job recently to improve those previous issues! Great place to stay!

We just wrapped up three nights here and we were left wanting. The kitchen is not stocked well at all. The shared bathroom upstairs has a clear shower curtain therefore you can’t share while showering. My 11 month old had black hands and knees after crawling around the living room upon arrival. Vacasa said they’d send someone to mop the floor but they never came. I saw a 4-foot long snake in the beach grass right off the porch so we had to run down the foot path to the beach. Yikes! We ultimately enjoyed the view and the easy access to the beach. We liked the casual, less crowded feel of this island versus the 30a crowd. However, if we come back, we’d pick a different rental.

Our visit
Would definitely return to this property. It was a great location, had plenty of space and was maintained beautifully.
My only suggestion would be to supply detailed instructions for working the tv. We could not get the sound to turn on in the main room. It's a minor thing but would have been nice to watch a movie together as a family.
Other than that our stay was wonderful and I would highly recommend this house.

St. George Island's 2nd Lighthouse
Very pleasant interior. Tower turret charming. Had heavy rains with leaks in living areas. Inferior pans, dishes and silverware but that's par with a rental.

VIEWS and great for those with pets!
The view and the sun decks were great. So convenient to the ocean - steps away. Older comfortable home with plenty of space. Loved being able to see the sun rise and set. Most flooring was tile or hardwood floor.

Beautiful location but serious issues that need to be addressed
The location of this place is amazing but there is clearly a mold issue in the furnace/air ducts. We contacted Vacasa regarding this issue and was given properties at least 45 mins or more away to relocate. Vacasa is not a company I would recommend. They were incredibly rude in communication and this property should not be rented out until the mold issue is resolved. We left the windows open to ventilate and remain in the house but there are many missing screens and disgustingly dirty window sills. I hope Vacasa addresses this health liability. This could be an amazing property if it was actually properly maintained.

A little rough around the edges
It fit our needs but is need of repairs. Insects seem to an issue here.

Excellent location, interior flaws
The location of the property was fantastic. We loved the view and access to the beach could not be beat. However, the interior was not nearly as well kept as the listing indicated. The toaster, toaster oven, refrigerator, blender, and dryer all either didn’t work or were poorly maintained. The dryer took 3-4 cycles on highest heat for the max amount of time to dry one load of laundry. The drawers and shelves inside the refrigerator were taped together with duct or packing tape. The blender leaked. I contacted the property management company prior to our trip to ask about beach chairs and was told there were none at the house so we brought our own. When we arrived, we discovered there were actually several beach chairs in the downstairs closet. This might seem nitpicky but we took valuable space in our vehicle to bring our own chairs and we didn’t need to. We still had a great vacation but the inside of the home needs some work. Making sure appliances are in good working order should be a top priority.

Love St George...not the house
This house could be great but not worth the money. It needs a ton of work. Lots if items broken or in desperate need of repair. I would also suggest a deep cleaning, repairs ,some landscaping on beach path, its very narrow, and around grill area. Nothing like looking out for snakes while cooking in the weeds. I could go in but I will keep the rest of the issues betwwen Vacasa, the owner and myself. I do not recommend.

We LOVED this home! Thank you for allowing us to visit!
This is our first time to SGI and we fell in love! Lighthouse by the Sea had everything we needed! A kitchen full of cooking utensils, plenty of space to lounge, an open floor plan, what felt like NEW mattresses in the bedrooms, a spacious deck looking out to the gulf, easy access to the beach, and a very clean home! There were even extra beach towels for us to borrow. How nice!! We did not want to leave. Thank you for providing a perfect beach getaway! We hope to be back!

Pictures are deceiving
Unfortunately, the pictures you see on the listing are inaccurate. What they don’t show you is the mold growing on the ceiling around the air vents and on the silverware, the roaches, the bugs in the beds, loose deck railing, food crusted kitchen ware, and lots of ignored wear and tear. I’ve given Vacasa an opportunity to make this situation right and they thought a cleaning fee refund would suffice. Our entire party dealt with headaches and sinus issues from the mold. Every single air vent upstairs was completely rusted out. A couple of us had to go buy our own sheets and pillows to feel comfortable enough to sleep. A child could push over the loose deck railing. The carpet was disgusting and looked like it hadn’t been shampooed in years. This house could be amazing because it is very spacious and in a great location, but clearly the property management company is doing a very poor job at maintaining it. These issues go beyond a “cleaning fee.” Hope this review saves the next guest the headache of staying here.

Excellent Location, House in Need of Some Work
Location EXCELLENT! House was clean but in need of some basic repairs (door knobs, various fixtures about to fall out of wall, railing, plumbing in shower all loose, paint worn, light bulbs burnt out, only 1 trash bag, blinds and dining room chair broken, etc) NO hair dryer though listing under essentials. 3 women NOT HAPPY! The description also indicated beach chairs, but there was no beach chairs, there were three camping chairs and one of those was unuseable. BRING YOUR OWN! All of these things add up so overall NOT worth the money compaired to other beach houses we have rented! Truly, all of these issues could be addressed with a one day handy man! It needs some attention!
