The pool was really nice to relax and we had a big spacious room with air con, always a plus.
Good location with a great sunset on the beach across the road.
The owner was nice and drove us to the main road so we could hail a taxi easily.
The bed was not great, there was a mattress topper over an average quality mattress. Didn't sleep amazingly on it.
There was no hot water in the showers during our stay
4.3
Peaceful place next to the beach. Very friendly staff and they allowed us to check in to our room at 8am.
good price/value.
4.3
The host was extremely kind and helpful. The ac worked perfectly, clean and spacious room. 5 steps from the besch which is great for sunset and close by a cheap car/scooter rental. Quiet and colourful place!
Bed is a bit small.

I would say this place has the potential to become a really good hostel. The room we had was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The garden and shared areas are nicely decorated. Just some things to improve..
When we arrived we found out that there is no reception whatsoever. All contact went via the booking app which didnt give a very welcoming feeling. It would be good to communicate this on the booking website.
Moreover, the place looked like a construction site. Everywhere were materials and things were under construction.
The pool looks nice on the picture but wasnt very well maintained, it was dirty the days we stayed in Casa kokona. And the pool was the main reason we booked this place. There was a smell of sewage and we had a musquito plague in our bathroom.
Altogether we found €75 euros a night overpriced for what we got.
4.3
The room was nice, colorful and clean. Had an AC. The outside area is very nice and chilled!
4.3
Pros:
Nice kitchenette that has cooking equipment/cold fridge and shared kitchen outside
Pool was small but nice.
Hammocks and seating outside
All rooms on first floor
Quiet area especially at night
Lots of shelves
Fan and AC worked well
Bed was ok - foam topper on it to help
TV available (I didn’t use)
Wifi was decent for PE - has zoom calls, only a few glitches
Lots of plugs, no problem with electricity
Bath towel and very small beach towel
Soap for hands, kitchen and soap bar to wash body available
Hot water every night
Short walk down street to the beach - very close!
A short 5 min walk up the hill to the big Zicatela mercado
Two steps to a wonderful cafe, Mar y Cielo, located to the right of the Valhalla Beach House, with the best chef Marcelo, who speaks English and has the most wonderful tasting food made with love!
Overall it was decent for the price.
Cons:
Unfortunately other people were allowed to smoke outside at the table. every night I had to shut windows.
Bathroom not that clean but hot water every night.
Sheets were slightly dirty, I had to brush them off underneath when I arrived.
A lot of light which I love but it was hard to sleep early in the am as there was no curtain for the door window and the other didn’t fit the whole window.
House cleaning only if you’re there when she comes by which isn’t terrible but slightly inconvenient.

Owner was really helpful and responsive to our messages - we were able to store our bags after check out and drop them early when we arrived.
Pool and courtyard is lovely! Photos don't do it justice.
Our room was a good size and Aircon was great.
Also a lovely place for breakfast just a 30 second walk up the hill on the same road.
After a couple of nights there were a few ants around the bathroom sink and toilet.
A net by the pool to use for removing bugs from the water would be useful as these built up during the day.
The walk was a bit far to La Punta but good for Zicatela.
4.3
The location was close to the beach and other amenities were within walking distance.
They were building a new room right over the ceiling of our room. There was extensive noise (pounding, sweeping) as well as wet cement right outside our door which created a mess in our room. We were not told ahead of time there would be construction during our stay. Also, the communal kitchen area was basically used as a living room by a guy who is a long-term tenant making it not a very comfortable place to hang out. We had to ask for clean towels and a blanket for the bed a few times. We ended up leaving and finding a new rental and had to pay the full price. I would avoid this place until they finish their construction and even then would hesitate based on long-term tenant taking over the place. The manager and owner were responsive but really shouldn't be renting out rooms during construction on the property, especially without telling people in advance.

Very good value for money comfortable and clean and we had a problem with the water not running and the staff could not have been more responsive it was resolved within minutes
Its a little scruffy at the front as there are renovations going on
4.3
Kokona was quiet, clean and cosy. For my needs, it more than acceptable. Having the small pool proved to be just the right facility to take the edge off of the heat at the end of each beach day.
The shared kitchen could use a refresh. Although it was adequate, the refrigerator was not as cold as it should be, and the gas stove was a little weak at times. Overall, great for the money spent.
4.3
Staff is super friendly, breakfast is great. The place is like 5 mins far from the beach and 10 from the center. I booked a room with ocean view which was stunning! And also the view from the restaurant is amazing.
and : They have hot water!!!!! :)
My room was right next to the main road and because it’s more like a bungalow therefore you can hear everything and it’s really noisy in the morning and the evening as well, but if you use earplug (like I did) it’s okay then! :)
4.3
Wifi is amazing, everything is very clean, it is very relaxing, I spent really good time for both vacation and working.
Everything was perfect
4.3
Honesty, I loved everything given the price! The host was so responsive (literally within minutes), helpful and kind. The facilities are clean and comfortable, but I was especially impressed with how quiet it was given its very central location. Hands down one of the best accommodation in my travels in Oaxaca so far! Amazing value for price!

everything was great

the location was good
it was dirty, the shared shower area and the kitchen including. the shared fridge. Also building onsite at the time we were were there and there was noise from that in the day.

great style and love the colours

Super nice host. The room was clean and quiet. Kitchen was also nice, and they are working on a pool. Also a bit of walking distance (7-10 min) from where the shops are, that's a good thing if you're looking for quiet.
The bed was a bit hard and unconfortable and it was really hot even with the fans on. Made it a bit hard to sleep
4.3
Nice and colourful place. Great to sit outside and watch the sunset.
The bed was small for 2 people.

i had been backpacking solo and staying in dorms, and decided to book a cheap room to give myself a break - but it was SOOO much more than I expected and I extended my stay. it’s not luxury here, but it doesn’t pretend to be, and for the price it’s amazing. great location cose to restaurants, bars and yoga. Close to a club but you don’t hear anything at all. and it’s right on the beach! The owner is so so so lovey, I really felt looked after by him, he always replied to my WhatsApp, booked my taxis, and even stored my bag while I went to Chacahua for a few days. theres fans in the room so it’s not too hot, a lovey outdoor kitchen and just such a nice vibe in the place with people doing long haul stays. if you want a cheap private room on the beach - look no further!
everything was great!

The manager was SO lovely and helpful, he even let us keep our bags there for a few nights while we were away.
the rooms were very hot and only one shower and toilet for everyone.

Marcus and wife great hosts

Nice host and nice people staying in the accomodation, very homy feeling

I liked the outdoor kitchen and all the cheerful graphic paintings on the walls. The owner was a very cheerful man as well, very kind.
The booking.com map to this place could be much better. Maybe offer Hoel Zanzibar and Hotel Blader as landmarks and make road names more clear. The hotel needs a sign on the outside of the building or fun graphics identifiable to the pictures of the inside .
4.3
The room was very nice. Very clean. Loved the outdoor kitchen.
I think my room right of the entrance will need air conditioning or a lockable screen door. It was very wam even with 3 fans. It needs signage outside so clients can find the hotel. As well a better map to find it on Booking.com. Hotel Zanzibar is a good landmark.
4.3
100% recommend! Marcos was the best, helped us with everything we needed. the hostal is close to everything, right in the middle. it’s close to a good food market too.
the WIFI in all Puerto Escondido is bad. we had good reception in the kitchen area.
4.3
Such a lovely place. kitchen is small but has all the basic things you need. It’s a tiny paradise, right next to the beach. Staff is nice and helpful. They provide drinking water.
the rooms get very warm, but the fan worked great.
4.3
very nice, and quiet hostel with private rooms, which are clean and comfortable. The host is beyond amazing , he let us in very late at night and also let us check out much much later as we had our bus in the evening, amazing experience, definitely recommend if you’re looking for something more quiet and relaxing!
wifi doesn’t work well in the room
4.3
The hostel looks nice with some colourful paintings.
Big outside area good for chilling.
Big terrasse as well.
The room is too hot. Cooling it down takes more than the tiny little fan put there.
