This was the perfect spot for our multi-generational family getaway. There were things to do for all of our family members (23 -83 years old). The house, built in 1900, is comfortable, spacious and built for recreation. Very “comfy, homey vibe”. It felt like we were at my great-aunts house. We really appreciated having so many beds to choose from. Although we didn’t need all of them, some were more comfortable than others.I specifically chose this listing because of the private pier and kayaks. We didn’t need to use the sailboat because we brought our own boat, but I thought it was a nice option. Since it’s jellyfish season, we fished, crabbed, kayaked and boated. At night, we enjoyed the ping pong table, fire pit and board games. Nice variety of wildlife nearby. Deer, terrapins, snapping turtles , fish and crabs were all around. When we needed a pot to cook the crabs in, the property manager was kind enough to deliver it within 10 minutes. This was definitely a great choice for our family.

We stayed for a motorcross race (son was racing). We didnt do much at the house. Its nestled back in a quiet point on the water. Easy commute to and from to the grocery/simple shopping stores. Starbucks right down the street for you coffee lovers. The interior decor is simple and antique.

We booked the property because of the waterfront location and amenities offered. The home is located in a central spot where there are several large grocery stores and other shops within 10 minutes drive. We also visited the Naval Air Museum which was great. At the time of booking, we knew it’s an old home but since it has good reviews, we decided to give it a try. When we first walked in, you could feel the age of the house. It is dark and has a musty smell. Upstairs only has window units but the curtains are not properly fitted so you have to move the curtains out of the way so it doesn’t block the vents. Also, one of the larger bedrooms is connected to the game room. You have to pass the game room where the daybed is to get to the bedroom. I didn’t like that due to the lack of privacy. The furnitures, mattresses, beddings and kitchen items all need replacing due to poor conditions. Carpet upstairs needs to be replaced as they have been worn thin. Kitchen cabinets need to be gutted because they are just disgusting (excuse my word choice, but I don’t know which other word that would best describe the situation.). Water pressure isn’t consistent in the bathrooms. The basement is dark and dingy. The stairs leaves little head space so it’s a hazard. We all hit our heads even though we knew to dock. Outdoor space could also use some care. The stairs to the dock is steep and the bushes could use some trimming. Outdoor grill is rusted be replaced or repaired.

I did not realize that both bathrooms are on the first floor of the house, most of the beds are on the second floor. 2nd floor seems to be converted attic space and has window AC units that are very loud (but worked well to keep the space cool when it was 90+ degrees out) and my kids found it to be very creepy up there (so did I, but I didn't tell them until afterwards). Whole house smelled musty and moldy. Linens were very old and the beds were not particularly comfortable. Not much furniture in the family room area (2 loveseats). Dining room and kitchen were huge. Bathrooms were fine, although the water was a trickle in the one bathroom sink.
I think this would be fine for a fishing trip as advertised, but if you have little kids, the set up isn't good. It has so much potential, if some furniture was upgraded, walls painted, little decorating. The outdoor space was nice, kayaks, dock, view, but could be even better if the trees at the end of the property were cut so you could see the bay from the house and a patio installed and some nice landscaping. We never even saw the ping pong, pool table. We were planning to use the bikes, but the house wasn't really in a neighborhood and we would have been biking on a fairy busy street with the kids.
Overall, this place has a lot of potential, but fell short.

Great location to downtown Solomons Island Center.

We love this place. The property is amazing. The house was great. All the kids had so much fun swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and floating. Check in was simple. The owners and PM were super helpful. My only advice is to bring shade and lawn chairs.

The house was nice and the property is spacious. Great views from the dining room table. A little steep heading down to the dock but not terrible. Very private setting, but also only 5 mins away from pretty much anything you could need. Some nice restaurants just across the bridge in Solomons Island. Would love to return in warmer weather to take advantage of the kayaks and water.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at this cozy house, a little piece of history on the Patuxent River with serene water views. The connected rooms, bed configurations (and foosball table!) upstairs were a good set up for family with children; grandparents were able to have more privacy on the main floor. The house is old but we like that. It is clearly well-loved, and has much more character than most newer, sleeker properties. For one, I have certainly never stayed in a rental house with a real player piano. (We did have to make an effort to keep the kids from playing with that fragile antique!) We loved our visit and hope to have occasion to return.

We had a great stay during Thanksgiving, enjoying the private waterfront yard, and close proximity to food and activities. We stayed with our pup who loved the yard and being able to explore the dock and kayak in the river. The kitchen worked great for cooking our Thanksgiving meal, and the rustic charm interior made the home feel cozy and warm for the holiday. We can’t wait to return in the future!

Brought in the new yer with my family here. The Home has a rustic charm, location is great and by the water, tons of yard space and the game room is an awesome amenity. Would love to stay again next time during the Spring/Summer.

Quitesential bay vacation. The house is old and loaded with character. As a person that has been visiting the Pax river area since the early 70's, this brought back many childhood memories.

Great location and amenities. Could use some updating.
Dock and waterfront were pretty. Great we could have our dogs there. House was dated, but clean and everything worked.

Great stay, beautiful house, yard and porch. Plenty to do, could have spent the whole trip at the house! We loved the player piano but please be careful with the rolls, a lot had rips and are very delicate! Beautiful area to kayak and a nice point to wave at your family as they paddle away. My husband took his canoe from the house and met us at Myrtle Point beach! Caught tons of perch.
Notes: You have to walk through the foosball bedroom to get to the queen w/ twin bedroom. Also note that all three upstairs bedrooms have to share the first floor bathroom right at the bottom of the stairs. Not an issue for us!
This house shares the dock/boats with another rental house. Was a bummer when we planned to go kayking and they had taken all the kayaks.
Watch out for traffic going over the solomon bridge. I think this was unusual but it took us 30 minutes to get to the house from the main intersection in California.
But very minor notes on what I would consider a perfect weekend get away!

This house was perfectly located four visit purpose and intent. The large hose was located on a creek off teh Patuxent RIver, had great views of the water with kayaks to enjoy, bikes to ride and a sailboat for cruising. It was a rare find in the rental world.

It is a cool house that has a lot of potential, but it definitely needs some work to make it more comfortable and livable.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property while visiting the area for Christmas. This older home with lots of charm was like spending the night at Grandma's house. We really liked that the interior was kept as original as possible with lots of wood and the antique appliances worked well. The waterfront property has great views and the we really appreciated the Christmas decorations that made it feel like home. We also enjoyed playing Christmas music on the 1920s player piano. The dining area was very spacious and great for Christmas dinner. We enjoyed playing the available games since we were inside a lot with the low teens temperatures outside.
With a few minor improvements, I would consider this property perfect although none of these would prevent us from renting the property again. The HVAC struggled to keep up with the abnormally cold weather on the 1st floor. This could have been alleviated if the fireplace had been working (or better yet, a gas fireplace) One of the bathroom sinks had low water pressure. The seating while plentiful could be more comfortable.

Limited towels and supplies for keeping things neat while we were there. Sponges in the sink were nasty.

The location is a lovely spot right on the water front with beautiful views and plenty of space for 8 to sleep comfortably. Be sure to check with the host regarding kitchen supplies before you come. There are two ovens but there werent enough baking pans for our needs. Silverware & cooking utensils were in short supply. Heat and AC are regulated by a Google Nest Thermostat. The house was chilly when we arrived in November and we were not up with the times and that type of thermostat. As a result it took awhile unitl we got warmed up.

Great family weekend!
We needed a place to stay for the weekend with family and friends coming from three different places. This was the perfect house with a completely isolated backyard. We loved the access to the water, cooking and grilling and hanging out inside and outside! Beds and bathrooms were all comfortable and the house was older but well kept.

Extended Wedding Weekend
We visited the area for a nearby wedding and really enjoyed the house! It was very clean and close to grocery stores, etc which made stocking up easy. Comfy beds, plenty of room, and lots of charm! At the suggestion of another visitor we spent a morning at Sotterly Plantation and would highly recommend it if you're a history buff - a fascinating look at the area's rich history. If we were able to stay longer I would have researched the sailboat rental. I look forward to the possibility of visiting this beautiful area again in the future when we can spend more time!

Nice house
It is water front with awesome view. The landscape and house are both beautiful. Kayaking is the best of all the places where we have ever been, because it has calm water in the lake and open view in river. The parking lot is big and flat, good for aerobics and basketball. The owner is approachable and quick to respond. We had wonderful time there.

Wow property!
The house is beautifully set atop a hill forming its own peninsula. The grounds are well maintained and the gazebo outback is great for viewing the river. While the house is historic, it is charming, and some updates have been made. Kitchen was well stocked with all the items needed to prepare a meal . There is no door for privacy between two sleeping areas up stairs, and both bathrooms are downstairs. Two bedrooms are completely private with great views. We had a terrific weekend. It was perfect for our needs.

Ideal Location
I booked this property for a family get away and it “ticked” most of the boxes necessary for this outing. The house is older but there seem to be improvements being made. Overall, it was good for our needs. More than adequate kitchen space, table space, and internet worked well. I do have 2 negative comments and while they didn’t affect our stay I do feel I need to be upfront. First, while it advertises 2 bathrooms you should note that both bathrooms are on the 1st floor while the bulk of the sleeping spaces are upstairs. Secondly, there was a mixed message (Evolve vs Owner/Manager) about the check out process with linens. This property afforded my family to gather together, relax, and just enjoy being together.

Awesome time and place!
Had a great time staying at Ross' place. The house, while older, is in great condition and was the perfect getaway for my group of friends. We had zero issues in the house. The backyard is super spacious (we were able to assemble a full volleyball net) and there's a fire table down the end we used both nights to cap the night off.
There's four kayaks which we used to and kayaked out to one of the nearby small beaches as we got glorious weather while there.
All in all a great trip!

Great Break
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at “Sailor’s Delight” in California, Maryland. The house was very nicely furnished and clean, inside and out. We enjoyed watching TV in the “great room” because it is very comfortable and beautifully paneled (even on the ceiling!). It really creates the feeling of an historic home (it’s over 120 years old!), but updated with modern conveniences and furnishings.
The dining area was spacious with seating for eight at a solid maple dining table, plus a solid mahogany table in the kitchen with two chairs. The appliances are all stainless steel and appear new (except for the stainless oven and stainless cooktop which seemed a bit dated but functioned well).
The four bedrooms all had beds that were comfy, and we appreciated that the Host provided towels and linens so we didn’t have to deal with it.
Bathrooms were both nicely tiled and without issues.
Although the weather was beastly hot and humid outside, we were cool inside (even upstairs).
What really made our visit special were the amenities. First, we loved the sailboat and the kayaks! I’ve always enjoyed sailing and boats generally and wished I had access to them. Well, here they are! The creek is perfect for kayaking: it’s smooth as glass and connects to a yet another creek through a “canal” and we kayaked under three bridges to reach the other creek. Then we kayaked out into the Patuxent on our return. On our second day of kayaking, we brought a picnic lunch and literally “ate on the water.” Although we didn’t go sailing, we enjoyed just sitting on the sailboat and dreamt of sailing to distant ports…like Solomons!
I would note that no one was swimming in the creek when we were there (August), probably due to jellyfish which are common throughout the Chesapeake in summer. They shouldn’t be an impediment to swimming in the spring and fall.
We also caught a few crabs in the crab pot with chicken necks we got at the supermarket. Then we let them go.
Our boys also enjoyed playing basketball and riding bikes around the neighborhood. The bikes were clearly second hand bikes, but they did the trick.
During the first day, we checked out Sotterly Plantation, which was beautiful, historic and interesting. The second day, we walked around Solomons, and enjoyed the shops and ice cream and of course the lovely water views.
In the evening of the second night we went to the end of the peninsula and made s’mores in the fire pit. It’s a very cool and secluded setting about fifteen or twenty feet above the water. Quite memorable.
All in all, we had a great time at “Sailor’s Delight” and look forward to returning soon.

Good location but needs major renovation
We have stayed at many rental homes and were disappointed in this one.
When we were on our way to the house Ross called to tell us that the dishwasher was leaking and needed to be replaced so the guys came the next day to install a new one.
The same day the "Nest" that controls the air conditioner died and air conditioning shutdown as well. It was very hot day 93-95, one of the upstairs units was on the floor and Ross asked my husband to put it in the window, but the unit plug didn't match electrical outlet and it was missing the install kit . He also asked my husband to go into the basement and try to see what was wrong with nest/AC. Ross did call Hvac contractor who responded very promptly late Friday afternoon and it was the condensate safety switch on the pump. We texted him that the air was back up and running but then there was a severe storm and the power kept going out. The bathroom lighting did not work and we had to reset the multiple circuit breakers and gfi's. He never reached back out to us to see if everything was ok.
The house is older and needs full renovation, not just a quick shoddy handyman fix which has been done on some areas and poorly executed. There are some new windows and bathroom vanities are updated but things like the kitchen with its peeling cabinets, buggy windows, ancient stove and no electric in one of the outlets are in need of a fix. The floors in the bathroom are old with several of the tiles popping out. Needs curtains throughout whole house , the light from parking lot kept my son up at night. And not having a washer or dryer was a big problem. The planks on the dock need serious attention , I felt very uneasy walking on them. For the price of this rental you should not have to deal with any of these issues.
I have stayed in many older homes and they can have wonderful charm and character with the right decor, the center hall has this feel but rest of house lacks that and hasn't been modernized correctly.
Also there was a jelly fish everywhere in the water so be careful as they are stinging Sea Nettles, thankfully that did not happen to us as we just went kayaking.

Great Getaway
We had a wonderful stay! The house is spacious and secluded yet still close enough to town and other activities. Ross was a great and accommodating host. We’d definitely come again!

We'd love to go back
It's a magical little place. We loved it.
