About this house rental
Enjoy an "Endless Summer" in this beautiful, inviting 3 bedroom retreat in the heart of Salter Path on Bogue Banks/ Emerald Isle. Relax on the deck with a hypnotizing elevated 3rd row view of Bogue Sound after a day of fun on the ocean beach, which is just a short walk away. Walk to the nearby restaurants, fish market, ice cream stand, and shops, or take a quick drive to Emerald Isle and Swansboro to the south or Atlantic Beach and Morehead City to the north. Visits to the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, the fishing piers at Bogue Sound or Atlantic Beach, Fort Macon and much more are just a short drive away. Just off the end of the driveway, the marina near the end of the driveway offers a place to launch your kayak (bring your own or use one of the house kayaks) onto Bogue Sound, as well as the opportunity to rent boats or charter a fishing trip (coming soon!). Nearby nature trails and nature reserves will satisfy nature lovers. Relax on the deck, swing in the hammock, laugh together by the fire pit, or play in the adjacent park. You can do it all or do nothing at all! Come enjoy the best of what the Crystal Coast has to offer.
Some details:
We are honored to offer you our future home as a place of family fun or individual respite, or some of both. A peaceful retreat in the middle of the island of Emerald Isle, you can be as busy or relaxed as you want. We want this to be a place you come back to again and again.
We want to be THE destination for you and your family! For those with little ones, WELCOME! There is the beautiful Salter Path park playground right next door, with a picnic shelter and basketball court. To walk to the beach, just go through the park entrance and walk up the street. It's about a 5-minute brisk walk, or a 10-minute stroll. (You can also easily drive to the lot there.) See the file "Directions to the Beach" for a picture that shows exactly where to go.
In the guest closet downstairs (the one right under the kitchen), there are plenty of beach toys and fun stuff for everyone- beach toys, fishing poles, boogie boards, kayak paddles, life jackets, and a full-sized fridge/freezer for your downstairs needs. The area under the house is a brand-new patio with a picnic table, hammock, hammock chair, charcoal grill, and a fire pit. Wood for the fire pit is available at most of the grocery stores- you'll want to plan to pick that up. There is a pack of fire starters and a lighter stick in the guest closet. We've added some fun beach games, and a pack-n-play for your family to use wherever you might need while you're here.
We also have tried to make the house very easy for folks with mobility issues, so the whole family can come and enjoy our home. We have added the new chair-lift for the outside steps (check with us for usage details- it is not a toy, and it is easy to use). Our first floor has a full bedroom and full bathroom, with a walk-in shower in the first floor bathroom, along with all the common areas- kitchen, dining room and deck. If transfers are not a problem, then the first floor is basically wheelchair accessible- though some amenities like the kitchen cabinets and the upper floor are not.
Please note that there is a small transition strip of about .5 inch between the kitchen and the dining area because the flooring was installed at 2 different times, and was unavoidable. It isn't much, just watch your step.
The padlock on the guest closet has the code 3-3-3. It is there to give you a place to keep "your stuff" locked downstairs while your way from the house. I will note that the area is very safe- that closet was unlocked for nearly 2 years, and we never had an issue. This added security does make everyone feel safer though.
We've added a bunch of kids' toys and games so your kids will have something fun to do as soon as they arrive, to help while you unpack. Check the pictures for updated pics of this.
On the decks, we feature "retro" wicker furniture, from the table to the love seats and chairs, plus chairs on the upper decks. You can move them around the property for wherever you need them most- just put them back when you leave. The sound-side docks have a hypnotizing view of Bogue Sound. You can sit and watch the sun come up, watch the boats go by, or just enjoy the whole experience! On the back bedroom deck, you can watch the park. In the evenings, you can usually hear the ocean sounds on the breeze.
We have 3 bedrooms (1 King, 2 Queen beds) plus a pull-out sleeper sofa. One set of clean bed linens is provided for each bed, plus there's a spare Queen mattress pad in the downstairs bedroom closet and a spare King mattress pad in the Master bedroom closet. Each bedroom has its own TV hooked up to Spectrum cable with something like 150 channels. They are smart TV's, so you can also use your favorite streaming services. We have Prime Video, Disney+, and Paramount+ pre-installed. The house has Wi-fi available for all the rooms, too. The bedrooms upstairs also both have private decks outside for the quiet cup of morning coffee or to sit and watch the stars. The Master bedroom has a gorgeous view of the sound.
In the kitchen, there is a basket of stuff you may have forgotten- coffee, tooth brushes, coffee, soaps, etc. We also stock a "starter set" of handsoap, toilet paper, and paper towels. When we rented places, they didn't provide this, and we always needed it when we first got there. We don't want you to get caught short! There's enough to get you through until you make your grocery run and get what you prefer.
The laundry closet is just off the kitchen by the full bathroom, and has a stacked washer-drier combo for your convenience.
Also, be sure to read through the house rules. They're on here, and posted on the fridge. We are pet friendly, which that details. We also have check-in, midweek trash, and check-out instructions there. We are smoke-free and ask that you not host parties. Be neighborly- we have great neighbors and they are welcoming, so please be courteous to them as well. You can read all about that there.
In the kitchen, we have updated things. A new fridge-freezer, a new dishwasher, and a new stove round out a full-service kitchen of oven, stove-top, microwave, coffee makers (individual and pots), and a fully stocked set of plates, silverware, and cooking pots and pans.
The pack-n-play that's in the guest beach closet or the bedroom closet (depending on where it was returned last) can be used wherever you need.
We have upgraded our kitchen/dining/living room first-floor flooring to make it even more welcoming! We replaced the old linoleum and carpet with brand-new laminate flooring, now basically wall-to-wall. We thought this would make it easier for the house to stay fresh and clean from the sand, dogs, and family traffic the carpet was seeing. We've also added retractable kid/doggie gates to make the home even safer for your visit!
Nearby, all within walking distance, is the Bogue Sound, Homer's Point Marina, the Anchor Drafthouse and Pizzeria, the Crab Shack, Scoops Ice Cream, Willis Seafood Market, and Salter Path Methodist Church. The parking lot for those businesses is literally just a few hundred yards from the driveway. In the summer, call ahead to get your name on the waiting lists for the restaurants- then chill on the deck until it is time to head over. (The Crab Shack has an app where you can track where you are in the line, for instance.)
Just up the main street (Rt. 58), there is to the right a Dollar General, the Fire and Police Department for Indian Beach/Salter Path, a gas station/convenience store Save-A-Shop (with some fishing supplies), and Beach Wheels where you can rent strollers and bikes- they'll even deliver it right to the house. The beach access is right across the street from there. The Fire Dept. has handicapped beach buggies for FREE for greater mobility availability.
The Billfish Grill & Bar just around the corner sometimes has live music, as does Homer's Point Marina's new Pub.
There's plenty of other fun stuff to discover all over the island. At the house is a book full of ideas, plus a guest book full of "it worked for us" ideas from other guests like yourself. Or just come and chill- the house is a great place to relax and slow down, too!
Overall, welcome to our home. We want you to have a blast, and come back time after time to make memories with the people you love. Come and find a place of great solitude. To help that happen, we offer a 5% "returning guest" discount on any future stays less than one month in length. We are still relatively new owners, so any suggestions or ideas for how we can improve are most welcome. We keep trying to improve the house and amenities, and your feedback is crucial to that. For instance, that's why we added more kids' stuff, new pet/kid gates on the deck & stairs, added a pack-n-play, added the shower grips, made the fire extinguisher more accessible, etc., - many of those coming from guests' suggestions. Contact us at any time- before, during, or after your stay. When you call us, you deal with us directly. (Or, if you prefer, VRBO is also always available and they reach us also.) Our goal is to provide you with a 5-star beach small-town experience of beauty & hospitality. Come, stay with us!

Our stay was amazing. Everything was clean and the checking in / checking out process was great. Even though we stayed for a short amount of time, the experience was awesome! There were quite a few restaurants in walking distance and since it was on the sound side it was quiet and peaceful. Would recommend if you have young children as well due to the fact that there is a playground located beside the property also! Definitely will be back😊

Perfect house for our three generation family! So many things were right at the house that we didn’t have to drive for a restaurant, seafood market, amazing shrimp burgers, Marina and Sound and Beach right across the street! This house had everything! Wonderful stay!

We really enjoyed our stay. Paul was very responsive and accommodating as a host. The house was very clean and had a beautiful view of the sound. My daughter loved having some games and small toys at the house. She learned to play Chutes and Ladders while there! We also enjoyed being next to a park and an easy walk from restaurants and the beach.

This was our second visit to this property and we had a great time. We love being able to bring our Golden Retriever with us on vacation and this time we had our 6 month old with us. We definitely plan on going again and look forward to making full use of the playground when we come back.

Loved the place. We have family that live in Havelock, NC so they brought our grandkids over and they loved all of the games, they loved the playground…it is very dog friendly. My only complaint was that we were only there for a long weekend. Huge thanks to the hosts for having such a great place.

The house was clean and had all that we needed for our stay. It was in a quieter area, but close to restaurants and a very short distance to the beach. The deck has a nice view of the sound, perfect for taking in the morning with a hot cup of tea. Additionally the host was amazing with communication. Overall a great stay!

We had a great time at this property with our small kids and 2 dogs. It was great being within walking distance of restaurants, and right next door to a playground. We had a nice time sitting on the balcony and watching the sound. The neighborhood was quiet, and convenient to both sides of the island. Overall 5/5, we will stay here again!

This was the perfect mini vacation for our farming family! The home was clean and everything was as listed online. The hosts have thought of everything, little "how to" notes, cooking supplies, toiletries starters, and my almost 3 year olds favorite--kid toys & books! We were only able to stay 2 nights but it was so helpful that so much was available for us to use, including beach chairs, toys and wagon. The location was great! We were able to stroll to restaurants and the beach. The park was a huge hit with our little ones and VERY convenient, right in the back yard! We would recommend this to our family and friends and plan to come back!

Very nice property a quick easy drive to the beach. Loved the playground and charcoal bbq as well as under deck seating and market lights. Good place to see both sunrises and sunsets. Host was great at reaching out and communicating. Would stay again.

The property was just like described, and more. The owner responded promptly with any questions we had.
Location... There are several restaurants within walking distance, the beach access is close and no stairs to climb. The aquarium is right down the street and definitely worth checking out.
The Crab Shack , Surf's Up grill shrimp and the Captains food truck are all excellent choices. The Willis Seafood mart's crab cakes and fresh shrimp are good choices and the kitchen is well equipped for cooking. I know vacation and cooking but sitting on the deck and viewing the water while eating seafood can't be beat.
The owners really have thought of everything to make you feel at home. Can't wait to return!

Owners where very responsive to all our questions. We had 6 adults, 1 infant and 2 dogs staying for a week and there was plenty of room inside so you weren’t stepping on each other. The house is in a very quiet location to relax and enjoy your stay. Within 30-40 minutes to surrounding towns. First time booking this house and will book again in future if we are in the area.

This place was beautiful!
Tons of room in the house. They have all the ammenities that you need. Beautiful views from both decks facing the sound. Very quiet neighborhood. Walking distance to restaurants and bars.
They even supply you with all you need to enjoy a day on the beach like chairs, boogie baords, sand toys for the kids, kayaks etc…
no need to pack extra if you have limited room in the vehicle.

Me, my husband and our dog enjoyed our extended time at this amazing place! We were blessed to stay for 3 months during the off season. We loved every moment. The owner was amazing. He gave us great suggestions for places to visit., and the house was stocked! We even were given a welcome basket! My dog LOVED the park. We went shelling, lots. The best was the ability to sit inside or on the deck and enjoy the beautiful bay. I cooked every day, because I enjoy doing so. Our daughter visited for a few days and my sister and bro in law visited for a few days. The beach was one block away. I can't think of anything that would have made our stay more enjoyable. There is zero doubt in my mind that families wanting to enjoy the ocean and more should consider this Endless Summer Place.

This was our second stay at the property. The location is ideal and central to beach access and restaurants. The house is comfortable, clean and provides for all ones needs. The only slight problem we had was the house temperature was 59 degrees when we arrived and it took several hours to warm. We had to put on many layers of cloths and were still uncomfortable for the first few hours. I would have much prefered that the house temperature been raised prior to arrival.

We had a wonderful time! The beach is just gorgeous! My husband and I loved that the beach was only a short walk away! The house is a perfect beach house with everything you could possibly need from kayaks, beach umbrella, chairs, etc. And lots of places within short walking distance which we loved! Enjoyed being able to take our dog with us! We absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to come back!!
