The house was well maintained and comfortable (we didn't spend a lot of time there, but the kitchen was well appointed, beds were comfortable) and the location was perfect for hiking Volcan Barva and starting our CR trip. The only issue we had was with the management company, Vacasa, who didn't communicate our arrival to the house manager, but otherwise it was perfect.

This beautiful house is in the mountains above the city of San Jose. Quiet, relaxing and still fairly close to what you need.

We loved our stay at hacienda Milinda. We ran into a couple of communication issues, it was more of a cultural thing. Basically people use WhatsApp for pretty much everything. I ever ordered pizza via WhatsApp… anyway 30 mins later we were inside the place. We had 2 families for a total of 8, kitchen was well equipped, the only thing we didn’t find was a rice cooker. Place was very cleaned. Fire place needs doors so the smoke doesn’t go inside. Also some gravel on the road pass the gate would be ideal, not everyone has high clearance. The weather was amazing, I grew up near Coronado and this resembled a bit of it. We drove all over the place from Guanacaste to la fortuna and roads were good but not this road from Barba to San Jose de la montaña. It was in really bad shape and very narrow but hey I got the full experience!!! This place is quiet which is great to disconnect from the fast paced life if there’s such a thing in CR… it had high speed internet with excellent coverage. My wife and I took the master bedroom, we just wished it was possible to cover the windows a little more in our bathroom, I understand the thought of bathing in the nature but people can still go around and see you in there. I would definitely recommend this place. I normally don’t revisit but it’s good to know there is good size cabin in the woods not far from everything you need. Nonetheless, don’t underestimate CR tropical weather, this place will make you put some long pants and a hoodie on. It’s surprisingly cool in the evening and mornings (50F).

We loved the cabin! There was plenty of firewood for the weekend, wonderful views, and great green space to spread out.

Great cabin.
Nice change of scenery and the manger was wonderful. The cabin was was pefwct for our interests and secluded enough to feel out of the city, yet close enough to go when you wanted. No ac, but not needed because it’s cold up in the mountains at night and the fireplace was used often. I will give some advice to owner however? Do not use vacasa as a broker they were rude and were adding huge fees and costs that were not at all necessary or reasonable. The house was great though, but watch out for those fees.
