I had a room in the main hotel which was accessible by elevator. Room had modern decor and design. The room had a small but usable balcony with a view of the lake. The king bed was positioned so you could look out at the lake and was very comfortable. Room also came with slippers, robes and free WiFi.
I didn’t care for the towels. They were not very plush and felt scratchy when used. There was no hook in the bathroom for the robes.

The reservation was made through Booking
After waiting for about 6 hours to receive the room - when in front of us we saw the guests arriving and receiving the room immediately, the receptionist told us explicitly - that since the reservation was made through Booking, this is the service that guests receive from Bonking.
Then we were offered a room in an old wing on the 3rd floor without an elevator - we did not agree to it - and a loud argument ensued with the hotel staff - finally, we got a suite in return.
Looking at previous reviews, it turns out that our case is not the first of contemptuous treatment for those who arrive through booking, and this is probably the hotel's policy.
The heartache caused to us was great - An unpleasant argument and Wasting time waiting to get the room it seems that they do everything possible to hurt those who reach them through Booking – shameful

The Saga Hotel is in an excellent location for walking around the centre and port of Reykjavik. The rooms were a good size, quiet and well appointed. The reception staff were very helpful and nothing was too much bother. The breakfast was adequate and we liked that there was proper sourdough bread available.
The breakfast became a bit repetitive after a week. Only having a choice of bacon, sausage and eggs as the cooked offering was a bit limited. The person who invented the light switches in the bedroom and bathroom clearly was a designer with little understanding of how people use light switches! They were overly complex and the concept of "on" and "off" was an almost unattainable dream!! We got over it in the end... :)

Grand hotel in beautiful location in the downtown. Clean room, beautiful bathroom, tasty breakfast

A truly four-star level hotel with upscale amenities and services. The staff was polite, attentive, and helpful; the amazingly comfortable bed was a luxury itself; the location is conveniently close to the old town.
4.5
good location, spacious room, helpfull staff. close to bus stops.
Paid cappuccino for breakfast, not enough free tables for breakfast, dirty carpet in the room, no housekeeping between 10.00 - 17.30 although it was requested. Not possible earlier check in.

Exquisite design, amazing shower, extremely comfy bed and great breakfast.
Nothing.

The hotel was clean with excellent amenities. The “closet” area in the spacious bathroom and towel warmer were a plus. The breakfast was excellent.

Beautiful rooms and decor, very clean and modern. Staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was fantastic; food and drinks were both delicious
The room was a little on the small side, but it was still very comfortable (and still worth it in my opinion)

The hotel was extremely clean and very modern. Our room was perfectly presented and the bar and restaurant staff and menus were superb would definitely recommend.
The only negative we found was no option for roomservice and as we arrived in the early hours we couldn't have anything to eat at the hotel but we're told they are going to bring a roomservice option into play very soon.

The location is excellent. The hotel rooms were very nice.
The restaurant in the hotel doesn't offer room service. No help offered for our luggage.

Facilities not complete during my stay so I was unable to take advantage of certain amenities. Other than that everything was wonderful.

The little service bar by the elevators and the room cleanliness.
Your receptionist introduced himself that he immigrated from Afghanistan and asked me if I am a mix? I really didn’t understand what he meant but in America, this could come off as rude or racist. I gave him the benefit of the doubts and assumed his English skills are bad. I think this would be a good area of improvement for your staff communication skills. He could simply do his job and not interrogate your customers. Hope you take this into consideration next time.

The location is convenient to everything. The staff were courteous and tried to be helpful. The room was lovely and a good size for Europe.
False advertisement. I booked our room in May 2022 for a mid August stay for 2 nights when we arrived in Iceland then 1 night before our return trip home. I read all the great reviews, saw all the lovely photos before booking. When we arrived we could not find the hotel because there was no signage. Just a building with construction paper covering the windows. This turns out to be the Saga. Guess what! It's still under construction! Restaurant and spa are no where near finished. The reception was a card table. There were too many things not completed to list. The a/c worked the first night, but not the second. The windows are sealed so we were sweltering all night. The electrical had problems. Some lights turned off when you turned them on and others wouldn't turn off at all. Maybe in a year when they get everything finished this will be a good place to stay. But not now. They charged us a premium rate for a hotel that wasn't ready. Disappointing.

Lots of choices, but the same every day. The restaurant at the hotel isn’t finished, but the breakfast is at a venue around the corner from the hotel.
They need to finish construction
