Quiet and luxurious
Continental breakfast in the room

Gorgeous location and perfect gardens; peaceful and very restful.
We couldn’t order meals a la carte. It was strictly by reservation only.

This is a quite extraordinary place to stay - set in the beautiful gardens that you have virtually to yourself in the evening after visitors have left - we timed our stay to coincide with a music and food evening in the gardens - magical
The staff are all very helpful and friendly - genuinely interested in the guests and their back stories
Nothing - don't be put off by the breakfast hamper alternative to a breakfast in the restaurant (which is offered on days when the restaurant doesn't open in the morning?) - its beautifully presented and very special!
This hotel is considerably more expensive than our usual choices but it is so luxurious and unique that it always feels like money well spent

Beautiful house set in magnificent grounds.
Very disappointing; our bedroom (Maple) was tiny and definitely did not feel like a £300+ room, and the sash window rattled the entire night! And yes, I do know it’s a Grade 1 listed house. The bathroom was a good size but the huge and enticing shower was another disappointment as the big overhead shower did little more than dribble; happily the hand held shower worked beautifully. Also disappointed by the fact that you cannot eat in the restaurant unless you’ve booked well in advance and want a Michelin tasting dinner; I feel there should be a very small à la carte option available for residents.

The hotel was fantastic and dinner spectacular, I would strongly recommend it for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion
Only minor thing for me and this is being exceptionally picky, I found the pillows a bit to soft so would suggest having a bit of choice in the room.

Superb room decorated with exquisite soft furnishings, beautiful spacious bathroom with shower and free standing bath - all spotlessly clean. Generous selection of toiletries - attention to detail was perfect.
Breakfast exceeded our expectation - perfectly portioned servings from cured meats, porridge, croissants, fruit, yogurt & beautifully presented cooked breakfast to finish. Faultless.
operating the TV was beyond complicated - in the end gave up.
overpriced drinks in the bar - £14 for a single measure of standard port.

Better staff help. Having difficulty finding location I telephoned 3 times for help but no response to phone

Beautifully restored property set in amazing gardens and surrounds. The staff were always polite and friendly and it was a very relaxing experience. The meals were wonderful.
The only downside which did not impact us but means we could not return with some friends is that due to the age and historic nature of the property it is not accessible for people in wheelchairs.

Me and my partner enjoyed everything. Nice sized room, wine fridge and all of the gardens and wildlife definitely made this short break one to remember.
We LOVED everything!

The breakfast was superb, and the staff were very attentive.
I particularly liked the porridge with the foam milk
I am not sure how this could be better, perhaps a larger window to take breakfast would have been the nice

Beautiful property in stunning grounds. The herd of joeys made me smile as I pulled in in my car. the views are breathtaking.
It is a stunning building made cosy - the sculpture provide an element of surprise as you walk around. My room The Rose room was large and comfortable- with a stunning marble bathroom.

6 weeks before our stay We booked a table for dinner. Booking.com confirmed our booking. Hotel sent email saying there was no room in the restaurant but this went into our junk email and was not seen by us. There was no catering provision at the hotel for us whatsoever. No room service available. We were not allowed to use the hotel bar until after 8pm. Breakfast was not served until 930 am - absolutely hopeless considering we had paid nearly 300 for a room with no onsite facilities we could use.
No food availability for residents at the hotel.

We had a small wedding celebration here and the staff were so helpful from start to finish and the location is amazing.
We couldn't use the bar during our stay but the quality of the food made this less important.

Wish we had decided to have the breakfast.

Very peaceful traditional style hotel. Peaceful garden and lovely large room. Good 3 course dinner using local ingredients some grown in the veg garden.
Lovely breakfast with fresh fruit and home cooked bread. It is an old coaching inn , with lots of history , the owners have retained some Of the features and not over modernised. Charming.

Enjoyed the 4 course breakfast and walking around the gardens which are beautiful!
Couldnt sufficiently open windows in the bedroom making it a stuffy and uncomfortable nights sleep. The fan was near useless. For the price, would have expected breakfast to be included and not an additional item.

Beautiful location and grounds. Very helpful staff. Lovely quiet setting.
There was no air conditioning in the room and it was rather hot for sleeping.

Late check in and early check out. Hostility towards vegans.

The breakfast was outstanding and very good value. The location was stunning, with a magnificent view from the bedroom window.
Tooth mug in bathroom, would have helped. some kind of catering apart from the brilliant tasting menu experience, possibility of getting a sandwich or whatever. There are too many statues by Anton Smit, they are everywhere you look and not to everyone's taste.

The most beautiful property in an outstanding setting. Immaculate throughout and the gardens are breathtaking. Staff were attentive and welcoming.
Nothing it was perfect

The breakfast was the best I've ever had. A refreshing and delicious change from normal hotel breakfasts. Our butler was the best ... he was very polite about my terrible attempt at Zulu. The grounds are exquisite with the sculptures by Anton Smit a highlight.
Reception seemed a bit understaffed and disorganised. We had quite a wait for check in during which time the staff didn't even greet us. They were busy but it doesn't take long to say "Hi, I'll be with you shortly".

Attention to detail, amazing artwork, luxurious.

very well refurbished, very comfortable and calm.
The lack of provision for any alternative dining ( simple bar option for example) given the dining room was full. No effort made by reception to apologise or try to make a booking elsewhere : the refrain was “we’re a restaurant with rooms and the restaurant is full”. and so sort yourself out .This attitude soured what was otherwise a great stay.

I loved the space of the room and the grounds are spectacular.
The late check in and early check out was a bit cheeky.
I know the restaurant is Michelin star but it would have been nice if the breakfast could start earlier not just at 9am as it felt very rush as we had to be out at 10am.
