A lovely week away. A quiet and peaceful location to escape to. Close to beaches and cafes etc. The dogs were made welcome along with us. Highly recommended as a delightful escape to the countryside and still close to the coast.

We really enjoyed our stay at Badgers Retreat. Perfect location for easy travelling to all nearby coastal resorts. The Cottage is lovely.. met all our requirements for a short stay break. Fabulous garden.. very secure so our Jack Russell couldn't escape. Terri & Richard (Owners) are very lovely people. So friendly and helpful. Cottage was well equipped with everything needed and a lovely Welcome Pack provided too. We would definitely stay here again .

We’ve stayed at Badgers Retreat previously, so knew that we’d enjoy another week here. We don’t go far, walks on Weavers Way and trips to the local beaches followed by snoozing in the conservatory (not just the dogs!). Terri and Richard are great hosts, they keep the place clean and tidy and the garden is great for our dogs.

Thank-you Terri and East Ruston Cottages for fitting us in at the last minute. We particularly love the secure garden!

We had a wonderful short stay. The dogs absolutely loved it. I've never stayed anywhere where I felt like we were more welcomed and accepted from the dog treats to the cage to the throws and more. Despite the heavy rain all weekend, we had a number of adventures and enjoyed listening to the rain on the conservatory roof. Thank you!

We’ve had a wonderful time at badgers retreat.
Terri and Richard were very welcoming and were around if we needed them, which we didn’t because everything was there for us .
the cottage was extremely comfortable; and as with all east Ruston cottages, the dogs were made very welcome.
The garden was brilliant and the dogs and we enjoyed it immensely, with the lovely weather we’ve had.
Having the Weavers Way literally a few minutes down the road has been superb as well, no need to drive anywhere to walk the dogs.
Overall a great, relaxing week, with no need to rush anywhere or do anything, Terri and Richard thank you so much

Our 7th stay at Badgers retreat 16 nights this time, can’t get of . It’s doggie fantastic my dogs lover exploring the lovely garden. The cottage is comfortable and cosy with everything you need. Lovely conservatory Everything is wonderful about it. Richard and Terrie the owners are very helpful and friendly. The views over the fields are to die for with the odd deer to be seen. Thank you Richard, Terrie and East Ruston cottages.

Lovely quaint cottage with beautiful secure garden for our dog. Terri & Richard were very welcoming & friendly. The property had everything needed and the welcome food pack for hoomans & doggy treats was lovely. The area was very quiet but was further away from anything than expected for us, a good 30 minute walk to village & pub. Great for a very peaceful getaway

We had a lovely few day staying at Badger's Retreat. The owner Terri met us on arrival and showed us around the property. We were very grateful for the welcome pack and the cottage was perfect for two people and two dogs, we were very comfortable. The location was great for us as there are plenty of walks from the door and lots of lovely beaches a short drive away. We would definitely recommend and return.

The hosts are absolutely wonderful and the cottage is so very very special.
Terrie and Richard were so friendly and helpful and we were blown away by all the thought and design that went into the cottage. It was perfectly situated for our reactive dog, with lovely walks and near to beaches and has a beautiful garden where our dog could run around safely in.
Badgers retreat is a slice of heaven and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

We always chose East Ruston Cottages when we are staying in Norfolk. Mainly, because they are the most dog friendly establishments you could wish for! Badgers Retreat was exactly that - perfect location with the Weavers Way just across the road, and many of the most beautiful beaches just a short drive away. The cottage itself was cosy and comfortable with probably the most magnificent fireplace we have seen! From the sitting room/kitchen to the conservatory there was everything that we needed, four comfy sofa's, plenty of throws and towels for the dogs, dog bowls and a lovely large garden with views across the fields. Thank you, Richard and Terri, for a lovely welcome pack and for being such great hosts. We would highly recommend Badgers Retreat.

Had a lovely last minute break, we waited until the schools returned expecting the weather to improve and couldn’t have picked a better week. The accommodation is exactly as advertised , lovely welcome pack thank you. The dogs were catered for too, it was lovely to take a holiday with dogs without worrying about anything. One of our dogs developed a limp just before the visit so it was really good to be able to take some short walks close to the annex although I hadn’t realised it was possible to hire a stroller which could have helped but didn’t spoil anything. Thank you so much for a lovely stay Terri and Richard

It is a beautiful cottage and the owners are so lovely. We had a really peaceful and relaxing time. Would love to go back at some point!

My 7th 2 week stay at Badgers retreat. Excellent location lovely secure garden. Excellent hosts Richard and Terrie. Love it didn’t want to leave.

Lovely comfortable accommodation, owners very friendly and welcoming. Extremely dog friendly. Great area for walking and getting to beaches.

Really enjoyed our week in Norfolk staying at Badgers Retreat. Clean and comfortable accommodation with all amenities needed. We feed our x2 lurchers raw food and although there wasn’t quite enough freezer space for the full week Terri kindly stored some in her own freezer, so it wasn’t a problem at all.
Lovely treats on arrival for humans and doggies that we managed to work our way through.
Conservatory doors open on to a lovely garden, perfect for breakfast in the sunshine and evening relaxing. Garden looks out on to fields that are full of wildlife. It is low enough to see over which means that , as the description says it is not high. Our whippet lurcher is useless at jumping, and our greyhound lurcher is 12yrs and has never bothered to climb over hedges/walls to escape since we rescued her so it wasn’t a problem and they could wander at will, but might be a consideration for some.
Terri and Richard are lovely welcoming and warm and their friendliness and kindness was much appreciated.

From booking to leaving felt well taken care off. The ability to book extras through the site is fabulous- we got massages from Sonia which were perfect, and my birthday cake was the most delicious thing I’ve eaten for a long time. Also used the discount for boat hire which was a lovely half day out that us and our dog loved.Following the site on Instagram meant we were well prepped for dog friendly activities and had loads of ideas before we came. The actual cottage was gorgeous and our landlords were so helpful- recommendations, welcome box and taking and packing away our supermarket order all helped create a fabulous atmosphere and relaxing environment. Even providing gaffer tape after I broke my walking books. Couldn’t have asked for an easier experience or a nicer stay

Lovely cozy cottage and we so enjoyed our stay.
Terri and Richard the owners made us very welcome.
Lovely welcome treats for us and our Yorkie Toby.
Toby loved the garden plenty of sniffing done by Toby.

A charming annexe to the owner’s farm house with its own private secure garden and enhanced by having a conservatory overlooking surrounding garden and fields. Excellent information provided by downloadable online booklet and the delightful owner Terri who met us on arrival ensuring we could ask anything about the property and area and checked via text that we were comfortable when the weather turned colder. Lovely welcome goodies and all decor and furniture in keeping with the property and a perfect little getaway destination for one or two with their fur kids.

Very good to wind down and plenty of nice walks. The surrounding area is great and we had good weather. The cottage was w
arm and clean and very dog friendly, we think our dogs enjoyed it as much as us. hoping for a return next year or a longer stay

Lovely quiet place, not far from many beaches and Broads. Away from hustle and bustle of more touristy areas. Pretty little garden and lovely conservatory. I had everything I needed to cook and look after my dogs. Easiest holiday I have had.

This was our fourth or fifth stay at Badgers Retreat and we loved it as much as our first time. Why do we keep coming back? Because Badgers is perfect for us - just me and the Mrs and our two lurchers. It's big enough for the four of us but small enough to be cosy in the winter. The kitchen is well equipped and everything is spotlessly clean. There are plenty of sofas for humans and dogs to share at the end of a long day's walking. If the weather is good - which has been for our last few visits - there is a beautiful garden in which to sit. It's fully enclosed so the dogs are safe but also has wonderful views across open fields to the front. We love watching out for the deer that appear each evening and the owl which we've never yet spotted. We live in hope! Badgers is couple of minutes walk from a beautiful stretch of the Weavers Way disused rail track which now serves as a wonderful footpath. The nearest beaches are a short 10 minute drive and are all dog friendly and quiet. Make sure you do the walk along the beach between Happisburgh and Cart Gap returning along the cliff path! Our hosts, Terri and Richard are just the nicest, friendliest people and are always on hand if needed. We love this little hideaway and we will be back again for sure.

We enjoyed a wonderful week at Badger's Retreat. It is very comfortable and has everything you need. In a very quiet area, the cottage has walks from the door and beautiful beaches close by. The owners were very helpful and left us a great welcome basket.
We hope to return in the future!

From the minute we arrived we felt relaxed. From the lovely greeting from Terri and Richard to the fabulous cottage. It’s perfectly positioned to explore Norfolk.,but if you don’t want to wander far it has amazing walks just outside the front door. The Welcome packs for both humans and dogs are very generous ! The cottage and garden are simply perfect.

owners expecting too much for their rental property and agents not pointing out the reality.
We cut short our stay at Badgers Retreat by three days. Uncomfortable, cramped, poor facilities, no wardrobe or hanging space, no chest of drawers, so our clothes remained in our bags under the bed. No heating. One uncomfortable bed, just 4ft 6 inch wide.
The cost of this sorry mistake was £954.45 for the week stay.
Just three weeks before this disaster we stayed at another holiday rental in North Norfolk for ten days at a cost of £1084.00 and for this ( my wife and I plus dog ) enjoyed a far superior and spacious property with three bedrooms, each with wardrobe and chest of drawers, two bathrooms, heated towel rails, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, which we did not need to use.
Impeccably clean and tastefully appointed throughout, and we have reserved it again for next year.
The problem with Badgers Retreat is that the booking agents should have made it clear to the owners that the accommodation they had to offer was simply not good enough and to trim their expectations to a realistic level, but even at half the price we paid, we would still have left early. We have experienced some excellent holiday rentals in North Norfolk over the last few years but sorry to rate Badgers Retreat so lowly

+Dog friendly retreat
A charming cottage in such a peaceful setting yet within easy reach of a whole range of beach/wooded/waterside walks as well as super dog-friendly pubs, farm shops and coffee shops. We had a wonderful week - Terri and Richard such welcoming hosts and the comfy and cosy accommodation was great for both human and dog! The enclosed garden was lovely as my dog could mooch about while I sat and relaxed between activities! Super stay - thank you.

A perfect place to stay
The most welcoming place to return to after a day out exploring the local beaches & the Broads, the cottage has everything you need for a relaxing holiday with lovely views over the countryside & a secure garden for your dogs. We will definitely be returning.

Peaceful, secure and pretty
Perfect spot for two plus dogs. We loved the beautiful and secure garden and conservatory, the views across the fields, and walks along the Weaver’s Way. It’s just a short drive to lots of beautiful beaches. Kind and helpful hosts who thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing. Our dogs loved it as much as we did.

Badger’s Retreat
We had a lovely relaxing few days at Badgers Retreat. Richard and Terri were perfect hosts, really helpful and friendly whilst giving us our privacy. The house was very comfortable full of character and well equipped for humans and dogs.
We really enjoyed dog walks from the house especially walking along the Weavers Way.

Relaxing Break
Lovely cottage in an excellent location. It has everything that you need. Terri was so welcoming and thank you for the little welcome extras which were really thoughtful. I didn't walk the Weavers Way as I'm post hip replacement surgery but there were so many wonderful dog friendly beaches. Walcott was the easiest for access. We enjoyed our day in Mundesley, a lovely little gem with a Hill Top Cafe. We preferred the Dunes Cafe at Waxham. Poppylands was OK but dogs have to go upstairs which is good if you have great mobility. Lovely seeing the seals at Horsey Gap. Tia enjoyed the enclosed garden which is really reassuring as she loves to escape! The conservatory was so peaceful and warm in the afternoon, lovely to relax with a good book. I feel thoroughly rested after a lovely break.

Wonderful Badgers Retreat
Badgers Retreat, is a sweet little cottage , so cosy with everything that you would need for your stay there, we had a wonderful week there with our three golden retrievers, the owners of the property were lovely, very welcoming and helpful with anything we needed, our welcome pack was just perfect , we felt we had been really spoilt , but loved it, if you like walking , just a short stroll from cottage is Weavers way, which stretches for miles and just perfect for your dogs, nice walk along there into the little town of stalham, if you prefer the beaches, not far to drive to find dog friendly beaches which are lovely, we absolutely loved our stay at Badgers Retreat and look forward to a return one day
