The property was beautiful, clean and in the perfrct location for being able to walk anywhere in downtown. Close to a park for kids and lots of choice of restaurants too. So much history in the building was an extra bonus!

Group of 8 stayed here, and other than stairs (there are a few) it was a terrific spot.

Lovely accommodation - close to Dalhousie, Spring Garden for shopping, Bishop’s Landing for waterfront stroll. The apartment was quiet and very comfortable. The games and tv options were perfect for relaxing with teens. I would highly recommend.

This was one of the most ideal locations & atmosphere for 6 old friends looking for a calm, relaxed & down-town Halifax experience!! It offered an elegant home-base that allowed us to walk to sites and points of interests as well as giving us the tools to create our own meals and the space where all could sit down together!! It was wonderful!
Thank you Holly for being a fantastic host!!

We stayed at the home over the August long weekend to celebrate my nephews wedding. The house was as advertised and the little extras made our stay convenient. Staying downtown was especially nice for ourselves and our grown children and their spouses. .

Great location and place.
This was perfect for our three generations. Plenty of room to spread out and come together. Walking distance to anything in Halifax proper. Just two blocks or so from the boardwalk and another few up the hill to the Citadel and shopping. Halifax is a great town and we would definitely stay in this house again.

Fantastic!
We stayed here with 4 adults and two girls 3.5 and 6. It was lovely. Very close to the convention centre where 2 were attending a conference, and close to shopping and many activities for all. A quick walk to the waterfront and many historic sites—right next door to Government House. It was a bonus that LM Montgomery had stayed here too. The rooms are beautifully decorated and well appointed. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, pots, etc., and it has a full stove, and full sized MW, DW, and fridge. There is also a new laundry set in one of the top floor bedrooms. There was lots of space for all of us with even a bedroom leftover. The large living/dining room was very functional, and we had plenty of room for hosting meals with friends we’d known when we lived in Halifax previously. We had a fabulous time, and Holly was a super host! The only caveat would be this is not an accessible property being 200 years old. We could all negotiate stairs well, but there is a flight of stairs to the front door, and two more long flights to the top floor bedrooms. There is one bedroom on the main floor and a powder room, but the only tub/shower is on the top floor. We did fine here with 6 people, but restricted mobility would be an issue with this property. Otherwise, it’s a gem!

Be careful
Got there, everything was ok. Moved table over (cause the backside was against the wall) 2 friends arrived to pick us up before dinner. Owners office was below, she barged in without knocking, screamed at us saying we had to many people staying there. I explained that the two people were just there picking us up. She screamed at us demanding we leave for having a party. Absolutely no party. She claimed we had a party because there 2 empty pizza boxes, an empty wing box, empty garlic box. There was 4 of us adults who got pizza the night before. (4 of us were registered guests). There was also a bag of empty water, pop, and beer cans IN THE RECYCLING BIN… we never made a mess at all, no damage obviously. Very strange experience. The host left us stranded in Halifax at 5pm at night. I would avoid at all costs.

Nothing Short of Amazing
I have never before enjoyed such a luxurious property on a short term rental. The reality is that I don’t own a home with four bedrooms with four-post beds in an historic place in one of my favourite cities. Remarkable furnishings. Fantastic host. My wife can’t stop talking about it. Very thankful.

Beautiful, comfortable home in great location
The balance of period furniture and modern appliances was perfect. Beds very comfortable. Thermostats in each room allowed individual comfort. There were six of us, age 18-78. Great location for easy walk to restaurants and places of interest. Host was very responsive and a delight to work with. We hope to stay here on future visits.

Wonderful stay at the Stoddard House
The 4 bedroom 2 bath appartment was spotlessly clean, full kitchen setup, beautiful furnishings including canopy 4 poster beds. The location was great with easy walking distance to downtown Halifax, the boardwalk, restaurants. Holly was very communicative and helpful. I would highly recommend this place and would love to stay there again!

Amazing property in a fantastic location!
This house is beautiful, and very spacious. We were 6 adults and always felt relaxed in the space; we never felt crowded. The house was extremely clean - with a great mix of modern and historic elements. We loved the artwork! We loved the additional provisions (snacks and coffee) to get us started, as well as the board games as we wound down at the end of some very long days.
The location was perfect - it's a quick and easy walk to the Waterfront, to Spring Garden Road, to Argyle Street, to the Citadel, and to the Public Gardens - and over the weekend, all street parking was Free!
Our host was fantastic - she checked in on the first day to make sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and again at the end of our stay to ensure an easy checkout. I'd definitely look this one up again!

Great location
This historic home is a the perfect spot from which to explore Halifax. The house is very nice; an old world charm, with some modern touches. It is large, with plenty of room for a big family or group of friends.
The location doesn't really get any better; you're steps away from the best of Halifax. The waterfront, restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, historic sights.
Minor gripe would be that not all rooms had A/C so they could get a little warm.
We would most definitely stay here again given the chance.

Amazing Downtown Location in a House with Character. Inconvenient Parking
The Stoddard house is in a nearly perfect location for tourists to Halifax. It's just a 5 minute walk to the waterfront boardwalk's many offerings, just steps away from some of the city's best eats and downtown shopping, and public gardens/citadel are just 10 minutes away.
The house has really beautiful character with four poster beds in all the bedrooms, and clean, comfortable furniture. The hosts go above and beyond to provide extra amenities like fruit snacks and packaged cookies and coffee. Even dry shampoo in the bathrooms! We had 8 family members staying together, a mix of adults, an infant, a child, and even a small dog. There was plenty of space for us to all feel comfortable and hang out. There's even a bit of grass across the road that was good to take the dog out to.
Parking was a bit of a headache as the property doesn't have attached or free parking. There are a lot of public lots that can be used, but they're a bit of a walk away. We went with Indigo Parking's Long Term parking lot at the VIA rail station about 10 mins away. They had a very cheap $35-one week rate going if you download the app. Check-in and Check-out was not too bad as the spaces across the road are free 6pm-8am (I think).
Our garbage filled up pretty quickly and we had to coordinate with the manager to pick it up as there wasn't a refuse area we had access to.
The owners are very quick communicators and made the booking and check-in/out process very easy.
Would love to stay again!

CLEAN and UNIQUE
What a great place! VERY CLEAN with such a unique feel. Historic with modern touches. Kitchen had everything we needed plus additional provisions (snacks and coffee) to get us started. We all slept great as the beds were all very comfortable.
Location was perfect, within walking distance of all fun things, good restaurants and entertainment. We loved doing a bit of people watching on the front steps too.
Holly was great with communication, checking in on us the first day to make sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and on the last day to ensure we were on the same page for checkout.
Would definitely recommend and will be looking at Holly's other rentals for future visits!
